REMEMBRANCE DAY ASSEMBLY

All students and staff participated in our Remembrance Day Assembly on November 8th. The Remembrance Day Assembly takes place outdoors and we appreciate the respectful manner in which our students honoured our veterans and special guests, despite the cool weather.

Grad Winter Formal Volunteers The grad winter formal is on Wednesday, November 20 from 7-10 p.m. We are looking for parent volunteers to work the coat check, dance floor, refresh-ments and security from 6:30-10pm. The Southern Medical Program is hosting an evening information session for prospective applicants to the UBC Faculty of Medicine’s MD Undergraduate Program. Students and families will learn about the admission requirements, application process, and how the program is training the next generation of physicians for our province.

The event will be held on Wednesday, November 27th from 5:30 to 6:30 pm in the Reichwald Health Sciences Cen-tre at UBC’s Okanagan campus.

Presenters include Dr. Shahin Shirzad, Assistant Dean, Admissions, UBC Faculty of Medicine and current Southern Medical Program students.

Grade 10 Sexual Health Education The District Sexual Health Education Team will be visiting KSS Semester one Grade 10 Social Studies classes from November 1 – 13.

This year, only the grade 10 students in our district will be receiving Sexual Health Instruction. There is no SHE instruction in the grade 11 year as in the past.

Attention Parents of Grade 12 Students,

Grade 12 is full of many special events held throughout the year to celebrate this important milestone in your stu-dent’s life. Dry Grad is one of these events.

Dry Grad is a HUGE event, an alcohol and drug free night, packed full of fun, food and prizes!!

This year, Dry Grad will be held the evening of Saturday June 13th, 2020, into the early morning hours of Sunday June 14th, at KSS. Plans are underway to create fun options for everyone; it is an opportunity to create invaluable memories in each students’ life.

Please encourage your graduate to pick up a ticket and come join the fun!! The first ticket sales have been planned for Nov. 27 and 28, during lunch hour in the MPR. Tickets are $40 payable by cash or cheque (made out to KSS Dry Grad). Students will need to present a signed permission form in order to purchase a ticket. Next Fri-day Nov. 15, the permission form will be included in the weekly Whoo’s News. Information on other places to ac-cess the permission form will be provided as well in the next Whoo’s News. Join the KSS Dry Grad 2020 Face-book page to stay up to date on ticket sales, fundraising events and other Dry Grad related news. The con-sent form will be available as well through the Facebook page. We have an incentive draw prize available to stu-dents who purchase on these two days!

The first fundraising event has been set for Friday February 7, 2020, Fun Day Friday at Chances Kelowna. Save the date!! Come out with your friends for a fun evening of Bingo, with partial proceeds going towards our Dry Grad event. Information on ticket sales to follow.

This event is organized and run completely by parents. WE NEED YOUR HELP!!

There are many ways you can be involved. Set-up, tear down, or helping during the event. It is sure to be an en-tertaining evening watching the students soak it all up! If you are interested in volunteering please email us at [email protected].
