CATHEDRAL ANNOUNCEMENTSOn October 1, Bishop Kagan established a Public Association of the Faithful in view of becoming a religious institute of diocesan rite. The Public Association, called Servants of the Children of Light, is dedicated to contemplative prayer and Catholic Montessori education. Its foundress and first member is Julie Jacobson, a Cathedral parishioner who serves as the catechist in the Montessori school atrium at Christ the King School in Mandan. She received her habit from Bishop Kagan at Mass on October 1 and took the new religious name Sister Chiara Therese. Read more in the November issue of the Dakota Catholic Action. Congratulations, Sister Chiara Therese!

Meals on Wheels - The Cathedral’s month to deliver meals for the “Meals on Wheels” program is December. We need four people per day, Monday through Friday, from noon to 1:00 PM to deliver meals during the month of December. Protocols to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 have been put in place. If you can help us meet our commitment to this program, which delivers a healthy meal to those unable to prepare one for themselves, please contact the parish office at 223-1033 or Deacon Tony at [email protected] or 204-7111.

Reminder: During the regular 9:00 AM school Mass, the main body of the church is reserved for Cathedral students, teachers, and staff members. Parents, siblings, grandparents, and community members are invited to sit in the gathering space, where Communion will also be distributed. The change in this seating protocol is to protect the health of our students and staff. We are also livestreaming the school Mass on our website each week so that people can participate in the Mass from home. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to the day when we will attend Mass together.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus challenges us to “stay awake” by taking time to seriously look at ourselves, the priorities of our lives, and how we are growing spiritually. Ask yourself “What would Jesus Christ do?” and then make a financial gift to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul so that those who are in need will be able to celebrate Thanksgiving. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul will have their next meeting on Tuesday, November 10 at 5:45 PM at the Cathedral (lower level). New members are welcome!
