It’sNovemberandtimetohonorourlovedoneswhohavegonetotheireternalrest.WestartwithAllSaintsDayonNov1,thenAllSoulsDayonNov2,and+inishwithourannualMemorialMassonNov26.I’dliketoencourageallmemberstocomecelebratemasswiththeWalterPollardCouncilonNov26.ThisinvitationisforallourwidowsasitisyournighttocelebrateyourKnight.WeneedvolunteersonNov28fortheannualMealsonWheelseventwherewedeliverThanksgivingmealstofamilieswhootherwisewouldn’thaveahotThanksgivingmeal.Storytime:In2002,myfamilyparticipatedintheMealsonWheelsprogramandourchildrenhadthechancetointeractwithourbene+iciaries.Oneelderlygentlemanneededhishearingaidscheckedout.IhadnoideawhatIwasdoing.Besidesneedingthebatteriesreplaced,thehearingaidsalsoneededagoodcleaning.Wealsohadtheopportunitytomeetgreat,thankfulpeoplewhoreallyneededusintheirlives.WecanthankGodforthat.IfyoucannothelpwithMealsonWheels,thereisaneedforguesthomesforareaservicemenandwomen.DeborahandIdidthisseveralyearsago.Idon’thavethecontactinformationatthistime,butIbelievetheUSOcoordinatedthisevent.Itwasfunwatchingalltheservicemenandwomenreadyforahomecookedmealwhenwepickedoursoldiersfortheday.Aswelooktothefutureforplanningpurposes,hereareafewupcomingevents:ChristmasParty:7Dec199-DayNovenaforLife:21–29Jan20MarchforLife:24Jan20

The November 2019 Family of the Month is our own Dean and Craig Jernigan. They both work in our QA section of our Bingo Operations

helping to save us hundreds each month. Sometimes they work as a couple and sometimes as individuals but both are a keystone of the QA

section. Both are wonderful conversationalist who are much sought after table mates during our dinners. Please join me in congratulating

November’s Knight of the Month is our Worthy Community Director, Joe O’Brien. Joe is a works diligently as a bingo volunteer

both preparing and selling Instant Tickets. A loyal supporter of his Parish, Joe usually serves as a Eucharistic Minister when he is at Mass

and volunteers in other Parish events. As the Community Director, Joe tracks and helps with all of our Community endeavors such as Coats

for Kids, Blood Drives, Meals on Wheels and PAA packing. Please join me in congratulating Joe O’Brien as our Knight of the Month for

electiontime.Areyouawareofthemanychangesthathavegoneoninthelast50years?Areyouawareofwhatisgoingon,eveninourcommunitiestoday?Somanyofusare+ixatedonthenationalpicturethatwefailtolookatourlocalgovernment.IrememberonedayIwasdrivingtoNorthCarolinaandIhadsomefamilymembersinmycar,andsomehowvotingcameup.Iwastrulyamazedatthecommentsmentioned.Iheardthingslike“whyshouldIvote,itwon’tmatter,”“thepersonintheof+icedoeswhattheywant,”“politiciansdon’tlistentothepeople,”etc.InitiallyIwasshocked,butwhatwasmoreshockingwaswhenIheardthatvotingwasawasteoftime.Wow,whatashock,butafterspeakingtoothersIbegantohearthatalot.Peoplewillcomplainabouthowourgovernmentisdividedandnooneislisteningtothepeople,yetmanyofthemdidn’teventakethetimetovote.So,areyouaredoeroracomplainer?InpreviousarticlesIwroteaboutbeingaproudmemberoftheKnightsofColumbus.Ibelievewecanalwaysmakeadifference.Manypeoplefeel,whyvotewhenyouarejustonepersonamongmillions?AsaKnight,youshouldcareaboutyourfutureandwantthebestthingsforyourfamily,friends,thecommunity,andtheenvironment.Youshouldvoteineveryelection.Yourinactioncanhavelong-lastingrami+icationsthatarehardtoovercome.That’swhywhathappensonElectionDayishighlysigni+icant.Allwereallyhaveisthepresentmoment.Yes,everyelectionmatters.Butnoelectionmattersmorethanthecurrentone.AsKnights,werepresenttheCatholicChurchandpeoplelookatusfordirectionandguidance.Wealwaysleadfromthefront.Wearenotclosetknights,nordoweputourheadsinthesand.Beproudandstandproudly.Whenyouvote,youarevocalizingwhatyouneed,want,andbelievein.Youarestandingupanddemandingtobecounted.Byvoting,youimproveyourchancesofgettingagovernmentthatactuallyrepresentsyou,yourvalues,andyourinterests.Areyouconcernedaboutanyofthese:collegeaffordability,healthcare,immigration,guncontrol,criminaljustice,reproductiverights,taxes,foreignpolicy,religiousactivities?Thenweneedtoyourvote.Oursocietyisinaturmoilandweneedyourvoicetohelpourcommunitiestoseethebene+itsofourbeliefs.Somepeoplebecomesocynicalaboutthestateoftheworldandnevervote.Theythink,“Whyshouldpeoplevotewheneverythingissomessedup?What’sinitforme?”It’saself-defeatingattitudethatfeedsuponitselfanddoesnothingbutperpetuatemoreofthe“mess”theycomplainabout.Here’sthedeal:Youcaneitherbeaproactiveknightofpositivechangeorapassiveknightofyourownboringpessimism.Yes,changecanbeslow.Lastingchangeusuallyis.Ittakestimeforprogresstohappen,forenoughpeopletoseeacertainvisionandgetonboardwithit.Butifyounevervoteforpeoplewhosupportthatvision,it’shardtobelieveyouactuallycareaboutit.Thereissimplynointegrityincomplainingaboutsomethingifyoudon’tmaketheefforttochangeit.Sotryvoting,evenifyoudon’tfeellikeit.Youmightjustdiscoverthatyoufeelmorepositiveaboutthefuturewhenyouparticipatewithotherstomakethingsbetter.Wearedependingonyoutodotherightthing.Yourvotecanhelpstopinjustice.Itcanalsohelpliftothersuporkeepthemoutofharm’sway.Votinggivesyoutheopportunitytoamplifythevoicesofthosewhodesperatelywantandneedtobeheard.Youcan’tcountonfutureelectionstocorrectthebadthingsthatmayresultfromthecurrentone.Andyoucertainlycan’tcountonotherpeoplevotingthewayyouexpectorwantthemto.BeaKnightwecanbeproudof.Remember,WeCare,thereforeWeVote!Tyrone“Tee”Fuller
