MIAMI SHORES RATE CHANGES:
Mr.
Green
submitted a request for 2014 fall
rates.
A
copy
of
the request
is
attached.
After a
short discussion,
Mr. Kappers moved
to
approve
the 2014
fall
rates as submitted.
Mrs.
Pierce seconded
and
the motion passed.
Mr.
Green
then discussed the rates for
2015. He
noted
the
rates from other
courses that he submitted as
part of
his packet. When he was asked how the
Golf Advisory
Board felt about
raising the
rates,
he
explained that
two board
members
wanted to keep the rates the same while the
other
two voted
to
increase
the
rates.
Mr.
Green
suggested
the following rate
increases:
Increase
Single Adult
40
Man Wife
80
Junior
40
Seniors
40
Sr. Man
Wife
80
Adult
Pass 20
Senior
Pass 20
Junior 20
When
asked,
Mr.
Green
said that he didn't
think they
would lose
any
memberships
because
the
increased rates would either be the same or still below other
courses.
Mr. Kappers
then moved
to increase
the rates
as
recommended
by Mr.
Green.
Mrs.
Pierce
seconded
and the motion
passed.
Mr.
Green
then
explained
that
he
would
like to
introduce
a
new
season
young
adult
pass
for 18 -
29 year olds because they have
a hard
time attracting
this
age group due
to their active life style. He
recommended that this pass
be priced at
225
plus
6 per
day.
Mr.
Phillips
moved to
accept the new season young adult
pass
as recommended
by
Mr.
Green. Mrs. Pierce seconded and the
motion
passed.

DP L
REQUEST FOR
EASEMENT:
Mrs. Swan addressed the
Board regarding a
request
from DP L
requesting
an
underground easement
as part
of
an
effort
to eliminate
a
pole and line over
the
Miami
River as
part
of
the Treasure Island
renovations and
the
placement of
the
lighthouse.
Mrs. Swan
displayed a
map
and
explained that they would like to bore
a hole
from the
transformer substation
that is
located between the Hobart
Arena and
the
levee
area
to
the
location
on
the other
side
of
the
river.
Mrs.
Swan
displayed
a
map
showing
the
affected area. Mr. Kappers
asked
if
any asphalt would be disturbed,
and
Mrs. Swan
replied that it would not. Mr. Kappers then
noted he
had concerns regarding
the
length
of
the
bore, and
Mrs. Swan reassured him
that
she
felt
there would not be any
issues.
Mr.
Kappers then moved to
recommend
to City Council that the
request
for
an
underground easement
for
the purpose
of
moving overhead lines
and a
pole be
approved,
as long as DP L repair
any damage done
to
this
area
during
this process.
Mrs. Pierce
seconded
and
the motion passed.
REQUEST
FROM TROY CIVIC THEATER:
Chuck
Fox,
708
E. Main Street,
524-1671, addressed the Board
on behalf of
the
Troy
Civic
Theater.
The
Troy
Civic
Theater would like
to
place
a
storage shed outside the
Barn
in the Park
for
storing some of their flats and props.
Mr.
Fox explained that
the
barn would be
10 ft. x 16 ft. and
would be painted red
to
match the Barn in
the
Park.
He
further
explained
that
there is
a door
on
the
northwest
side, and
they
would
like
to
place
the shed
just
outside
the
door
for
easy
access. When
asked
if
they
are
requesting anything
from
the
City, he
noted that they would like
to have an electric
line ran to
the shed
for
lighting inside,
and they
are
asking
if
they City could
pour
a
cement
pad
for
the shed to sit on, otherwise
they
would take care of all other costs.
When
asked the cost
of
the
cement
pad,
Mr.
Fox
didn t know
how
much that
would
cost.
Mr.
Drake noted that he didn t
feel
that
a
cement pad
was
needed
because
the
shed was built on treated timbers
and could sit
on the ground.
Mr.
Kappers asked if
this would be
visible
from the street. He noted that
he
had
concerns of
the shed
being
kept up.
Mr.
Fox
explained
that
they
want
to
paint
it red
just
like
the Barn in the
Park, and
they would take
responsibility for maintaining
the shed.
Mr. Kappers
said
that he
would
want the shed painted the same color as the Barn in the Park, placed in
a location that
was deemed by the
Park Superintendent, and he
would like
the
City
Engineer to look at the
possibility of
running electric to the shed.

Kappers also
