Parking Lot: We ask that all parents park in designated parking spots when picking students up from school. If there are no parking spots available, parents are asked to return to the Park District parking lot and find a parking spot. Please consider using the Circle Drive to pick up your student. We need to make sure the parking lot is safe for students.
Community Survey: Bloomingdale School District 13 values input from our community – and we need to hear from you! You are an important partner as we work to improve our communication, strategic planning, and overall experience for students and the wider community. In order to learn more about our community’s experiences in Bloomingdale School District 13, we will be asking for your feedback via an online survey. The survey shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes to complete, and will be an invaluable source of information for us as we target district-wide improvements. Craft Sale: Third Grade Students, along with the Character Counts Committee, will be hosting a Craft Sale during the lunch period tomorrow. All items will cost $1.00. Proceeds from the craft sale will benefit an Erickson family whose child is battling cancer.
Spirit Day: Friday is a Spirit Day! Be Bold & Wear Blue & Gold. The class with the most school spirit is recognized on announcements and receives an Erickson Eagle for the month.
From the Nurse: As we get into the colder months of the year, students will begin to feel sick. As a parent, you must decide when it is appropriate to keep your child at home or have them attend school. Please see the attached flyer that helps you determine when a student should stay home or go to school.
Mitten Tree: Donations for the Mitten Tree runs until Friday, December 22nd. The Mitten Tree is set up in the front lobby. Please donate new mittens and hats.
Bake Sale: Thank you to all families who baked and purchased items at the bake sale. We are pleased to announce that the bake sale raised over $1,000.00 for an Erickson family whose child is battling cancer.
Character Counts! @ Erickson: During the month of December, all students will have a chance to participate in Color a Smile. Color A Smile is a nonprofit organization, where volunteers of all ages and abilities, create cheerful crayon drawings. Every month Color A Smile distributes thousands of these colorful masterpieces to Senior Citizens, Our Troops Overseas, and anyone in need of a smile. Click here for coloring pages. Each student will receive one page to color.

WINTER SPIRIT WEAR: The winter spirit wear sale has ended. Thank you for your orders. The items will be delivered to school the week of 12/18 and will come home with your child.

DINE OUTS: Thank you for supporting our PTO Dine Out nights. When you dine and participate, a portion of the sales comes right back to the PTO. Look for the dine outs to resume in January! HOT LUNCH: WT Cafe is the hot lunch vendor this year. Pizza available on Mondays and a variety of menu items available on Wednesdays. You can order online a week at a time, and menus are available through December. Monday orders are due by 8 AM on Sunday; Wednesday orders are due by 8 AM on Tuesday. Develop your child's intellect through the fun game of chess! Current research has shown a strong link between chess and
academic performance in a variety of areas, including mathematics and language arts. Also, chess has been proven to enhance
motivation, concentration, focus, social skills, and creativity.
No previous knowledge of chess is necessary. Each class will consist of a fun, interactive teaching period and guided practice
time. Both new and returning participants are welcome and will get to the next level under the guidance of an experienced
Chess Scholars coach. There will also be a chess competition with prizes towards the end of the session! Each child will receive
a participation medal and a chess keychain.

No class: 12/25, 1/1, 1/15, 2/19, 3/5 (9 Classes)
