In advance we thank you for your support!
Happy Advent friends! Today we begin the 1st Sunday
Advent. Often we can get in the secular way of preparation of
Christmas, gift buying, decorating, etc. However I would like to challenge us to make this Advent even
better than before and bring Christ back into the meaning of Christmas. There are two powerful programs
to help us refocus on the reason for this Advent season: Dynamic Catholic’s Best Advent Ever and Re-
deemed Online’s #ShareJesus Social Media Campaign.
Best Advent Ever, begins today on the first Sunday of Advent, November 29th and continues every
day through December 23rd. Dynamic Catholic will email you simple yet powerful messages from Mat-
thew Kelly, America’s bestselling Catholic author, and other leading Catholic voices of our time that will
help you encounter God’s incredible mercy. Sign up online for free at the Best Advent Ever link:
http://dynamiccatholic.com/year-of-mercy/best-advent-ever/
#ShareJesus is a daily 2-3 minute video about who Jesus is. Speakers consist of over 60 top Catho-
lic speakers from around the United States, including over 10 religious sisters. This is a fantastic way for
those of you on social media to share on Facebook, Twitter, and other platforms to share the Catholic
faith this season! Sign up online for free at the link: http://redeemedonline.com/
Don’t have a computer or email account? This is a wonderful opportunity to reach out to your family
and friends and share in the faith – while sharing a computer! Don’t miss the opportunity to make this
your best Advent ever. It is convenient for you and the only cost is your commitment to live better each
day this Advent. Have a blessed week! Sincerely yours in Christ, Fr. Ron

please contact Rose Perry, 419-465-2698 or
[email protected] no later than Dec. 7th.
The PROJECT BETHLEHEM tree will be displayed in
the back of St. Alphonsus Church. Parishioners from both
parishes are encouraged to participate. Martha at Catholic
Charities shared that they have had an influx of senior re-
ferrals from the courts. Many of these elderly people have
either been in abusive situations or have no living relatives
to assist with their care and money management. So a ma-
jority of our Christmas tags will in fact be for those indi-
viduals rather than children. In the spirit of Christmas giv-
ing let’s make this Christmas special for them. Keep in
mind you do not have to purchase their entire list. They
are simply suggestions. It is also possible for 2 or more
families to share one Christmas tag. Gifts should be re-
turned to the back of St. Alphonsus with tags securely
taped, no later than Dec. 13th as they deliver the gifts be-
tween Dec. 14-18.

DAY OF PRAYER FOR THE SANCTIFICATION OF PRIESTS: Bishop Daniel Thomas will gather with the priests of the
Diocese on Monday afternoon, November 30,2015, at
Our Lady of Consolation Basilica and National Shrine,
Carey, for a DAY OF PRAYER FOR THE SANCTIFI-
CATION OF PRIESTS. With the beginning of Advent
and the Year of Mercy approaching
(Dec.8), this gathering will provide a unique and timely
opportunity to nurture priestly identity, fraternity, and uni-
ty. Bishop Thomas has invited Bishop Michael Burbidge
of Raleigh, NC, to be the spiritual director for the day,
which will include prayer, spiritual reflection, Eucharistic
Adoration, and the opportunity to receive the Sacrament
of Penance. The day will conclude with the priests having
supper together. Please pray for Bishop Thomas and the
priests of our Diocese, as well for Bishop Burbidge, that
this Day of Prayer for the Sanctification of Priests will
bear fruit for our priests in holiness of life and in their
service to the Lord and His Church. Pray that our priests
will be faithful and compassionate ministers of God’s
mercy as we all prepare to celebrate the Year of Mercy
called by Pope Francis.
