RMT has begun balloting ABM cleaner members from 28 October. We are balloting for strikes to win free travel passes for cleaners; company sick; and improved pensions. This could be the first network-wide strike of cleaners for many years.

ABM has held the cleaning contract across LU for a number of years now, but despite making millions for their bosses and directors, cleaners have not seen any benefit. Even though cleaners are as much part of the permanent LU workforce as station staff, drivers, and engineers, outsourcing means they do not have access to staff travel passes. This inequality is profoundly unjust. RMT has pressed this issue in talks with both TfL/LU bosses and ABM directors; now we’re stepping up the fight by organising a strike. Striking is the most fundamental form of power any worker has: withdrawing our labour and hitting our bosses’ ability to make their profits.

Before we can strike, a sufficient number of cleaners must vote yes in the ballot. The ballot paper will arrive with a freepost envelope you can use to return it. We need at least 50% of those balloted to return their paper, and at least 40% of all those balloted to vote yes, as well as a simple majority of papers returned. If we meet these thresholds, we can call a strike. If not enough people vote, we can’t. That’s why it’s vital that you return your ballot paper by 18 November. 

If a strike is called, you do not need to notify your supervisor or manager about whether you are participating. You simply don’t come into work on the strike days. There will be picket lines at stations and depots across London which you can join to show your support for the strike. 

The working conditions of cleaners on the Tube will never improve unless we fight for them. It’s time to stand up and be counted: vote yes for strikes!If you have not received a ballot paper, speak to an RMT rep or ring the union on 0800 376 3706. Въпреки че почистващия персонал са толкова голяма част от постоянната работна сила на LU, колкото служителите на станцията, ватманите и инженерите , аутсорсингът означава, че те нямат достъп до пропуск за пътуване на персонала.  Това неравенство е дълбоко несправедливо.  RMT постави тези въпроси в разговори както с шефовете на TfL / LU, така и с директорите на ABM;  сега ние засилваме битката като организираме стачка. Стачкуването е най-фундаменталната форма за противопоставяне и отстояване на искания, които да подобрят условията на труд , която всеки работник има като : оттегли труда си и по тоя начин наруши способността на шефовете си да печелят от техния труд.

Преди да започнем да стачкуваме е необходимо достатъчен брой чистачи да гласуват с „да“ в бюлетината, която ще получат по пощата. Бюлетината ще пристигне с плик за безплатено изпращане, който да използвате, след като гласувате. Нуждаем се от поне 50% избирателна активност и  40% от  тях да са гласували с „да“, както и обикновено мнозинство от върнати попълнени бюлетини.  Ако изпълним тези изисквания, можем да проведем стачка.  Ако не гласуват достатъчно брой хора, няма да можем.  Ето защо е  изключително важно да попълните бюлетината си и да я изпратите обратно до 18 ноември.

 Ако се обяви стачка, не е необходимо да уведомявате своя ръководител или мениджър за това дали ще участвате.  Просто не отивайте на работа в дните на стачка.  На различни станции и депа в Лондон ще има демонстрации към които можете да се присъедините, за да покажете подкрепата си за стачката.

 Условията на работа на почистващия персонал  в метрото никога няма да се подобрят, ако не се борим за тях.  Време е да се изправите и вашите искания да бъдете чути : гласувайте с „да“ за провеждане на стачка!

RMT a început organizarea votului pentru personalul de curățenie ABM. Votam pentru a organiza o greva care cere permise de călătorie gratuite , zile medicale cu plata, drepturi la pensii. Asta ar putea fi prima greva a personalului de curățenie la nivel de rețea pentru multi ani. 

Contractul de lucru de la LU a fost mentinut de ABM pentru un număr de ani pana acum și in ciuda faptului ca sau câștigat milioane pentru șefi și directori , personalul de curățenie nu au primit nici un fel de beneficii. Chiar dacă personalul de curățenie face parte din echipa angajaților pentru LU (personal de stație, conductori, ingineri), nu au access permise de călătorie. Aceasta inegalitate este injusta. 

RMT a discutat aceasta problema in nenumărate rânduri cu sefii de la TfL/ LU și directorii ABM. Acum intensificam cererea acestor beneficii prin organizarea unei greve. 

Greva este un mod fundamental de putere pe care orice lucrător îl are: retragerea forței de munca și drept consecință directa abilitatea șefilor de a face profit va scădea. 

Înainte de a face greva , avem nevoie de un număr mare de lucrători sa voteze “Da” la vot. Buletinul de vot va fi trimis  prin posta împreuna cu un plic pe care îl poți folosi sa postezi buletinul de vot gratis. Avem nevoie de cel puțin 50% din  cei înregistrați la vot sa trimită votul lor prim posta și cel puțin 40% din voturi sa spună “Da”. Dacă îndeplinim aceste condiții putem face greva. In caz contrar nu putem face greva. 

De asta este foarte important ca sa trimiți votul tău pana pe 18 Noiembrie. Dacă se va face greva, nu trebuie sa-ți înștiințezi șefii despre participarea ta. In zilele de greva nu mergi la lucru. La stațiile și depozițiile de tren vor fi grupuri la care te poți alătura pentru a susține greva. Condițiile de lucru ale curățătorilor de pe tub nu se vor îmbunătăți niciodată dacă nu luptăm pentru ei. Este timpul să vă ridicați în picioare și să fiți numărați: votați da pentru greve!

Spikes versus netting? The RMT has consistently been raising the pigeon problem in the North Sheds with management for the past 20 years.

Just when we think we are getting the problem sorted, our hopes are dashed.

It is clear that netting in this area is not the solution. The clever little blighters get in through holes in the roof and merrily set up home. The problem is that they shit all over our assets and walkways, then die and decompose in the netting.

Unfortunately it’s no joke. Airborne dust from pigeon guano has been scientifically proven to cause repertory problems. So we really do need to get this issue sorted.

 At a recent Queen’s Park safety meeting, the reps had an agreement with management that works would commence immediately to get preventative spikes introduced in the North Sheds. Reps thought this might be the solution.

Alas, the workers turned up on nights, and instead of the spiking we had requested proceeded to putting up more netting. Back to the drawing board.

Timetable saga drags on And so, just like our current government’s attempts to take the country out of the EU, the omnishambles that is Working Timetable 44 drags on.

Bakerloo drivers will have read the glossy company “fact” sheet, which was presented to reps with no prior consultation and listed all the possible solutions to the delays caused by the new timetable and then dismisses them all as too expensive.

But let that sink in for a minute. The company can spend thousands screwing up the service, but has no money available to fix it. Therefore rather than put things right management have instead decided to withdraw one train from the morning and evening peak service. Drivers predicted that this would have no noticeably impact on the current lousy service and have been proven right.

As anyone who works on the line knows the only solution to this dreadful timetable is to restore longer turn around times at Queens Park and Elephant & Castle. Until this happens the timetable and the driver’s duty books are nothing more than works of fiction, with meal breaks and finishing times being routinely eaten into to get the service to work.

While your RMT reps work to find a solution to this mess, drivers are reminded to keep the overtime claims going in and if you do feel fatigued driving under these conditions then you are entitled to call a PNR. This is management’s mess: let’s force them to fix it.
