Thanksgiving Break!

The studio will be closed from Tuesday, November 26th through Sunday, November 29th (no classes Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of Thanksgiving week). Classes will be held on Monday, November 25th in order to make up for the Monday classes missed on Labor Day. We will resume classes on Monday, December 2nd.

Studio shirts have been ordered and are set to arrive and be handed out next week. All students will receive a t-shirt and the cost was covered as part of your registration fee. The shirts will be worn by all students participating in the Christmas show, and will also be worn by all students for our Spring Recital Rehearsal in May, so please store them in a safe and easy to find place. Please be on the lookout for your child’s shirt NEXT WEEK and let us know if you do not receive it.

HOLIDAY PERFORMANCE

The Grimes Superstars Christmas programs will be held on Saturday, December 14th at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm at the Dallas Center-Grimes High School Auditorium. Participants will wear their NEW STUDIO issued T-SHIRT and BLACK pants/shorts/capri’s and appropriate footwear for their routine.

Students will need to report to the venue 30 minutes before show time; the venue doors will open at least 30 minutes before show time. Details on where students check-in will be provided in the December newsletter.

The Christmas show performances will be divided into 2 shows, so please review the show lists carefully. Additionally, due to the short duration of the shows students will need to remain in the cafeteria until the end of the show to avoid congestion in the staging areas; we appreciate your cooperation with this request.

Our Christmas show is designed to be a more casual performance for students and helps boost confidence. We highly encourage students to attend and perform. However, we understand the holidays are busy for everyone, so please let the office or your teacher know as soon as possible if you will be unable to attend. Thank you!

Help Us Give Back!!! As always we do not charge to attend our Christmas Show, instead we use this as an opportunity to give back. Have your Superstar and Superstars family members help the community by bringing a new and unused toy, non-perishable food item, or pet food/toys to the Christmas Show! We will also take any cash donations at the door to purchase items for donation. All proceeds collected will be donated to a local charity/service as well as food to the Grimes Food Pantry. We make this a friendly competition so let’s see which show will hold this year’s generous bragging rights.

PRACTICE CD’S We are happy to make copies of your child’s music so they can practice their Christmas routines at home. We sell copies of your child’s music at the reception desk for $3.00. If your child sees you, as a parent, proud of their abilities through practice, they in turn will value what their parent values. Parent participation is essential in building a good partnership and love of dancing, tumbling, twirling or cheering!

COSTUME MEASURING NOVEMBER 4- NOVEMBER 14

All classes will be measured for recital costumes the weeks of November 4th and November 11th. If necessary, some classes will carry over to the week of November 18th, especially for our larger classes. We encourage students to wear form fitting clothes during costume measuring week to ensure accurate measurements.

November’s automatic payment is effective on Friday, November 1st. It includes the monthly Tuition along with a Costume Deposit of $40.00 per costume.

December’s automatic payment is effective on Sunday, December 1st. This includes the monthly Tuition along with the Costume fee(s) Balances.

DROP/CHANGE POLICY

LAST DAY TO DROP/ADD A CLASS was NOVEMBER 1st We have begun the process of ordering costumes, therefore costume charges have been applied to all classes a student is enrolled in as of November 1st. Also, students may no longer change or add any classes after November 1st. This is to help ensure that all costumes will arrive in time for the recital.

WEATHER POLICY The studio will follow the weather cancellations of the Dallas-Center Grimes Community School District. If the DC-G school district deems the road conditions unsafe and cancels school for the day or lets school out early due to the traveling conditions, the Grimes Superstars will not hold classes either. The directors may have exceptions to cancellations for school closures due to wind chills. If in doubt, call the studio for a recording on whether classes will be held or not.

Cancellations due to weather will not be refunded or rescheduled.

Upcoming Community Performance…

Please join the Grimes Superstars in welcoming the upcoming holiday season at the Grimes Holiday Celebration on

Sunday, December 8th at the Grimes Community Center on Main St.!! We will be bringing a select few classes to perform starting at 5 pm followed with a group photo with Santa! If your dancer does not perform but would like to be included in the

group photo op. please have them wear their new studio issued shirt and keep an eye out for us to do so around 5:15.

(* Any individual or sibling photos wanted with Santa they will have to wait in line to do.)

CHRISTMAS VACATION

The studio will be CLOSED for the Holidays: Friday, December 19th – Sunday, January 5th.

Classes will resume on Monday, January 6th, 2020.

Our Spring Recital Showcase will be held the weekend of May 30th and 31st, 2020. Please also reserve the evenings of May 28th and 29th for Rehearsals. We will be having 3 recitals and a solo showcase this season. 2 shows will be held on Saturday and 1 show and the solo showcase will be held on Sunday. NEW THIS YEAR -- 2 nights of rehearsals. We will hold rehearsals in the DC-G Auditorium on Thursday and Friday this year. We hope this will allow for a little more practice time and help us get everyone home in time for a good nights sleep.
