Welcome
to our “e-REW Express”. Electrical safety of hawker stalls has drawn
public attention in recent years. In view of the increasing installation
work for hawker stalls, we will address the supply requirements and common departures of weather-
proof enclosure for hawker stalls in this issue of “e-REW Express”.

Supply Requirements and Common Departures of
Customer Installations for Hawker Stalls
Requirements of Mild Steel Weather-proof Enclosure for
Single Phase Supply to Hawker Stall
The customer should build the enclosure by the following instructions:
1. The enclosure should be supplied and mounted at the hawker stall by the customer. It is also owned
and maintained by the customer.
2. The earthing installation of the enclosure is installed by the customer.
3. The cables between HK Electric service cutout and main switch must not exceed 3 metres.
4. The customer must gain the approval from HK Electric before making new design / arrangement of
the enclosure for the hawker stall.
5. Double-lock arrangement should be provided if the enclosure is locked-up by customer. The
diameter of locking hole shall not be less than 14mm.

6. The enclosure should be installed at the hawker stall by the customer according to the attached
diagrams (option 1 or 2).

7. The size of the enclosure is shown below.

8. Customer may slightly enlarge the enclosure size to suit the different type of customer’s main
switch.
9. Two insert plates as shown below should be provided to facilitate cable installation by HK Electric.

Common Departures
1. The space for HK Electric’s cutout and main installation is occupied by customer’s main switch.
2. No cable duct or cable ducts not up to HK Electric’s requirement.
