Advertising In the ArtyFacts Newsletter

Contact Lois Bravo 803-0584 or [email protected]

HAA members who wish to advertise their art or their art classes that are NOT held at the HAA Gallery must pay for their ads. Advertising space in the ArtyFacts

newsletter will be available to members for a fee of $20 for one 3” x 5” OR they may pay for one year in advance for a fee of $100 which would give them one changeable

ad per month for 12 months. There is no discount for being a member, and none for ads less than the full year.

ArtyFacts is perfectly targeted for an artist and art instructor’s audience … over 250 artists, plus art groups read the newsletter!

Well Art in the Park for 2016 is completed. My thanks to our organizers for their efforts in making this another success. It seemed to be quite busy and I don’t have an estimated count on the number of participants. We had a variety of vendors and several food vendors and non-profits. There were quite a few dogs that shouldn’t have been there, but this year we were more prepared with the city code rather than argue with people regarding their pets, simply hand them the code on a small card. It was a whole lot easier and less stress-ful. Our Grand opening on 21 October 2016 was a huge success. My thanks to all who were instrumental in making this happen. The Chamber of Commerce did a fantastic job with the ribbon cutting and Mary Tieman, Director presented the Grand Opening award. Martha McSally’s office presented an official proclamation. Gwen Calhoun was present and there are too many others to name or even try to remember. What a rousing success!! Great food made by the ladies on the food committee was enjoyed by all. Liz Horning is our featured artist for the month of October. You may know or have known that she was at the May Gallery in Scottsdale for over 19 years, selling her paintings. We are pleased that she is here displaying at our Gallery. She is the past president of HAA and has been instrumental in helping to get the Gallery and Studio up and running. We have several of our members displaying at different venues around town: Jan Huthoefer at the Fifth Wind Gallery, Meta Geske and Martha Sprinkle at 590 Gallery and Gary Shreve at the Landmark Café and Board of Realtors. Jeff McLeod will be the featured at the Landmark Café, signing books and featuring his art for December with a reception on 10 December. Our Holiday season starts November 1 and runs thru December 31. The featured artists for the season is everyone. If you want to display and have not done so before, you must contact one of the directors to be juried. We would like smaller items to ac-commodate everyone as our space is limited. Holiday themes would be nice.

Our 45th Art in the Park Success

I want to thank my committee for a successful show. We already have 8 new applications for next year. Vendors were happy with their success and a great run show. Liz Horning was responsible for the food vendors which we were able to make a larger food selection this year and brought us beer and wine. Jane Evans became by right hand with vendor packets and double checking my assignments. Tim Dilts became the new RV parking attendant which sometimes was a chal-lenge. Alan Potter coordinated porta potties, Nerds who help the vendors with set up and food runs and Boy Scouts who change out garbage cans and clean up at end of day. Gary and Ginger Shreve found us help for member booths and information booth tent set up and take down. Elizabeth Line coordinated money, change fund and mover for tents and items need-ed run our show. Ken Pitzlin watched our rv parking lot as usual with help from other volunteers. I called many members for volunteers and they stepped up to help me in the information booth. This is appreciated because this is our fund raiser which has made our new gallery and studio possible. Thanks again, Lois Bravo , chair

YOUTH ARTS FESTIVAL VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! The Sierra Vista Arts and Humanities Commission has now begun planning for the Third Annual Youth Arts Festival-an opportunity for local children in the K-8 age range to participate in a variety of hands-on art experiences, including 2-D and 3-D art, theatre, music/dance, creative writing and crafts. Again it will be held at Cochise College and this year's date is February 18. There will be a $50 stipend for the activity leaders, who will need to submit a proposal outlining the activity that they would like to lead. If you enjoy working with children, and have an idea about a project that they might enjoy, please contact me, Liz Horning, by email at: [email protected], or by phone at: 803-7157, and I will give you more information on the application process. Again this year, Cochise College will be paying for all of the necessary art sup-plies (within reason), and there will be free lunches for all of the volunteers. Set up time will start at 9am on the 18th, with activities starting at 10 am and going until around 2:30, followed by end-of -day events at the Student Union. This is a great opportunity provide some arts experiences to the children who are no longer getting it as a part of their regular school curriculum.

WINDOW TILE PROJECT - MORE TO BE DONE! In case you did not get the opportunity the last time around, (or even if you did) we are still in need of about 8 or 10 more tiles to finish decorating around the north facing window at the gallery. Karl Hallsten has prepared some clay slabs for that purpose, in a width that will be the right size to fill the remaining spaces, and we are now looking for some people to go to the Pottery Studio at the Oscar Yrun CC and sculpt them into little tiles that are fun and charm-ing. Here's your chance to put your own personal stamp on our new headquarters. If you would like to participate in this, please let me, Liz Horning, know ASAP, by email at:

[email protected], or by phone at: 803-7157, and I can give you more information. It would really be good to get that window all done before the Holidays!
