In New Jersey the route follows a series of roadwaysfrom the New York border south to Trenton Theseroadways were the subject of an extensive study thatdocumented the march of the various military unitsthrough New Jersey and identified routes camp sitescommunities and lsquowitnessrsquo sites with remaining historicresources that were present at the time In NewJersey the NHT is led by the W3RshyNJ Association anonshyprofit organization They hosted a W3RshyNJ Historybreakfast forum on Saturday October 31 2015 Go here to see maps of the route in New Jersey

Letrsquos Plan Ahead for the 250thAnniversary of the American Revolution
We would like to convene a Revolutionary Wardiscussion that will connect the revolutionary war parksheritage areas and related programs in the Northeast inanticipation of the NPS Centennial Call to Action andthe Commemoration of the 250th anniversary of theAmerican War for Independence Although manyevents led up to the American Revolution the fightingstarted in 1775 at Lexington and Concord and lastedthrough 1783 with the signing of the Treaty of ParisBased on what NPS has learned from experiences ofcommemorations of the Civil War War of 1812 Lewisand Clark Centennial events etc we should be able toidentify some effective ways to mark the Rev War250th The NHT can play a convening role because theYorktown campaign was the culminating event of theAmerican Revolution and the NHT connects the manyrevolutionary war parks heritage areas national trailsand NPS programs in the very urban east In addition tothe obvious NPS participants we will engage activepartners such as the Sons and Daughters of theAmerican Revolution the Society of the CincinnatiMuseum of the American Revolution andW3RshyUS andreach out to schools libraries arts groups etc A groupcalled Revolution 250 has already started up in BostonWe propose developing an interpretive plan for the revWar 250th that would include a timeline of the relevantanniversaries identify commemoration opportunitiesbrainstorm new ideas for the commemoration andidentify roles and responsibilities for future action

The American Battlefield Protection Program (ABPP) ofthe National Park Service in Washington DC hasopened its 2016 grants competition The ABPP awardsgrants for preservation projects that lead to thepermanent protection of endangered battlefield landsProjects that involve multiple stakeholders are givenpreference Nonshyprofit groups academic institutionsand local regional state and tribal governments mayapply Eligible project types include but are not limitedto site Identification and documentation planning andconsensus building projects and interpretation oreducation projects All project applications must clearlydemonstrate that the proposed activity will contributedirectly to the preservation of battlefield land or anassociated site Grant funds may be used to procureprofessional services equipment and suppliesnecessary to conduct the proposed project Matchingfunds are not required although applications thatinclude matching funds and inshykind donations will begiven preference Applications must be received byJanuary 14 2016 by 4 pm EST

We would like to convene a Revolutionary Wardiscussion that will connect the revolutionary war parksheritage areas and related programs in the Northeast inanticipation of the NPS Centennial Call to Action andthe Commemoration of the 250th anniversary of theAmerican War for Independence Although manyevents led up to the American Revolution the fightingstarted in 1775 at Lexington and Concord and lastedthrough 1783 with the signing of the Treaty of ParisBased on what NPS has learned from experiences ofcommemorations of the Civil War War of 1812 Lewisand Clark Centennial events etc we should be able toidentify some effective ways to mark the Rev War250th The NHT can play a convening role because theYorktown campaign was the culminating event of theAmerican Revolution and the NHT connects the manyrevolutionary war parks heritage areas national trailsand NPS programs in the very urban east In addition tothe obvious NPS participants we will engage activepartners such as the Sons and Daughters of theAmerican Revolution the Society of the CincinnatiMuseum of the American Revolution andW3RshyUS andreach out to schools libraries arts groups etc A groupcalled Revolution 250 has already started up in BostonWe propose developing an interpretive plan for the revWar 250th that would include a timeline of the relevantanniversaries identify commemoration opportunitiesbrainstorm new ideas for the commemoration andidentify roles and responsibilities for future action

Kim Burdick W3RshyUSDE organized a meeting inWilmington Delaware to discuss Delawares portion ofthe NHT The trail in Delaware was laid out and marked
the NHT The trail in Delaware was laid out and markedin time for the 225th anniversary of the YorktownCampaign in 2006 Now that the trail has federaldesignation Delaware ready to refresh their plan andjoin their efforts with those of neighboring states

Letrsquos Plan Ahead for the 250thAnniversary of the American Revolution
We would like to convene a Revolutionary Wardiscussion that will connect the revolutionary war parksheritage areas and related programs in the Northeast inanticipation of the NPS Centennial Call to Action andthe Commemoration of the 250th anniversary of theAmerican War for Independence Although manyevents led up to the American Revolution the fightingstarted in 1775 at Lexington and Concord and lastedthrough 1783 with the signing of the Treaty of ParisBased on what NPS has learned from experiences ofcommemorations of the Civil War War of 1812 Lewisand Clark Centennial events etc we should be able toidentify some effective ways to mark the Rev War250th The NHT can play a convening role because theYorktown campaign was the culminating event of theAmerican Revolution and the NHT connects the manyrevolutionary war parks heritage areas national trailsand NPS programs in the very urban east In addition tothe obvious NPS participants we will engage activepartners such as the Sons and Daughters of theAmerican Revolution the Society of the CincinnatiMuseum of the American Revolution andW3RshyUS andreach out to schools libraries arts groups etc A groupcalled Revolution 250 has already started up in BostonWe propose developing an interpretive plan for the revWar 250th that would include a timeline of the relevantanniversaries identify commemoration opportunitiesbrainstorm new ideas for the commemoration andidentify roles and responsibilities for future action
