As the longest serving U.S. Attorney in the district since the 1970s, Alexander led the prosecution of several high-profile crime cases, including UBS’ infamous 2008 tax-evasion suit which resulted in the bank paying $780 million to the U.S. Government. Additionally, he prosecuted Jack Abramoff for fraud, José Padilla for terrorism, and Charles “Chuckie” Taylor Jr. for torture. Hear from Alexander on how to balance profitability in a compliance driven culture!
Throughout his career, Alfonso has advised foreign and United States ultra high net worth families with a specific focus on tax minimization strategies and implementation of estate plans for families with both United States and foreign status assets. Having worked for an international law firm to JP Morgan’s Private Bank to his current role at Bessemer Trust, Alfonso will bring a dynamic perspective to his panel debate Family Offices and Private Banks – conflict or collaboration?
Jean Pierre Lacombe is one of the top global economists, and is loved by audiences everywhere for his witty and engaging analytical economic outlooks. He currently heads the IFC’s Global Markets and Portfolio Research Group in Washington, DC, providing high value added research on global markets – market dynamics, macroeconomic trends and geopolitical issues – and their impact on emerging markets.
Prior to joining in Palm Equity in 2012, Christopher spent the previous 10 years of his career as Senior Portfolio Strategist at GenSpring Family Offices, where he chaired the Manager Selection Committee and provided invaluable contributions to the firm’s Allocation and Construction Committee. Before founding WE Family Offices, Maria Elena (Mel) has served as CEO of GenSpring Family Offices as well as CEO of JP Morgan Private Bank, an institution handling over $300 billion of clients’ assets. Mel has also been recognized as Hispanic Business Woman of the Year in 2007 by Hispanic Business magazine, and she currently sits on the board of directors at The Coca-Cola Company, Avon Products, and is a trustee at National Geographic Society. To complete her resume, she was appointed in 2006 by President Bush to help lead an effort to secure private sector funds to aid disaster victims in Central America.
