1 Corinthians 12:7-117Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the

common good. 8To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of

healing by that one Spirit, 10to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the

interpretation of tongues. 11All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.

Don’t Miss the MAIN POINT of the passage!!

1 Corinthians 12:7-117Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the

common good. 8To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of

The listing of Spiritual Gifts

1. Are these the sum total of Spiritual Gifts?

1 Corinthians 12:2828 And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second

prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing, those able to help others, those with gifts of

administration, and those speakingin different kinds of tongues.

1. Are these the sum total of Spiritual Gifts?

Romans 12:6-86We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man’s

gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. 7If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; 8if it is

encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern

diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.

1. Are these the sum total of Spiritual Gifts?

Ephesians 4:1111 It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets,

some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, 12 to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ

may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the

whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

1. Are these the sum total of Spiritual Gifts?

1 Corinthians 7:7I wish that all men were as I am. But each man has his own gift from

God; one has this gift, another has that.

1. Are these the sum total of Spiritual Gifts?

1 Peter 4:10-1110Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms. 11If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so

that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.

2. Are Spiritual Gifts something that just “happens” – or do you do

something?

1 Timothy 4:12-1412 Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in

purity. 13 Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching. 14 Do not neglect your gift,

which was given you through a prophetic message when the body of elders laid their hands on you.

which was given you through a prophetic message when the body of elders laid their hands on you.

2 Timothy 1:6-76 For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.
