Can ALL East School calf club cups please be returned to school to be engraved. These will be returned to you before the end of the year. Group Day cups need to be returned to Waihi College for en-graving or dropped off to the Wining Etch engravers at Waihi Beach. Congratulations to Neisha B who won the Wallace Supplies Cup for Champion First Year Calf at Waihi’s Group day last Friday.

SCHOOL ATHLETICS DAY RESULTS We had an awesome Athletics day on Monday where the stu-dents did fantastically well. Full results will be in next week’s newsletter.

WAIHI EAST SCHOOL SCHOOL NEWSLETTER 35/2015 11 November 2015

Kia ora, Athletics was a huge success on Monday. What could go wrong? Phil had the weather planned, the events organized and our children fit as a fiddle and ready to compete. A massive thank you to all whanau who attended and supported this day, Phil our extraordinary leader, and staff for your flexibility and motivation of others. Unfortunately, I was locked away doing Ministry of Education paperwork. Our achievement data is starting to be analyzed. I will share this information with you in December. Congratulations to all participants in Waihi’s Group Day. It is a huge effort to get a calf or lamb to this level of competition. Well done on your perseverance and efforts. The Twilight market is one week away. The choice of kai on the night is stunning– curry, mussel fritters, german sausages, normal sausages and chop suey. Following this there will be a number of sweet treats. Hmmmm, mouth watering stuff! Anne Marie and her crew have also lined up many stalls for you to view and purchase items. Why not start your Christmas shopping at school! Please come along and support our final LifePod fundraiser for 2015. Together We Rise Above and Shine! This week we are sending out the Year Six packs for Waihi College. They include all information required to make the smooth transition to college. Please return these asap. Our aim is to be the first school in our community to return their enrolment packs. Term four always has its challenges with some children making random choices in the playground, ones that we do not expect or like. As a team we deal with each incident on a case by case nature and put outcomes in place to support better decision making. If you have any concerns, please have a chat to your childs classroom teacher. It is important that we work together in a supportive manner for your child. A reminder that Doctor Tineke is on site each Tuesday morning helping our children with any health concerns. We invite you to make an appointment and attend this, or let us know and Sharon Samson will attend on your behalf. Sharon will phone you with any messages from Tineke. Alan Scott our School Chaplin and Life Coach is also available each Tuesday morning. Appointments can be made through the office if your child or whanau would like a chitter chat with him. Prize Giving is only five weeks away. Please put the 16th of December at 10.30am into your phone, we would love to see you there. Our pig buckets have worked well this year – ham rolls will follow our celebration. Thanks Pete and Michelle for our kai. Nga mihi nui, Emily Hargreaves ([email protected])

Term 4 Workshops How can you help your children at home?

Would you like to know practical ways you can help your children at home with their maths, reading and writing? Mrs Laing is offer-ing a couple of practical, hands on workshops to equip you to be super supportive of your children’s learning. The workshops will be run after school. Activities and food will be provided for your children to enjoy while you attend the workshop. If you are inter-ested, return the slip on the next page to Sharon in the office or text Mrs Laing on 0274 338 821. We need a minimum of 5 fami-lies to attend, so get your friends on board, let us know your pref-erences and watch this space!

EAR CARAVAN The free ear clinic will next be in Waihi on Thursday 26th Novem-ber. The caravan parks in the carpark at Central School on Mo-resby Avenue.

PUMPKIN SEEDS Have you planted your giant pumpkin seed yet? Has it sprouted? If you have seen no sign of green we have extra seeds available at the office. Just see Sharon or Lisa for a new seed.

Waihi East School have their athletics for an hour and a bit on Friday afternoons. Everyone has so much fun. There were the 800 metre sprints, shotput, long jump, high jump and more. All the classes rotated like a clock and every class got to have two turns on each activity. Connor and I went around to take photos of everyone for the year ones. I reckon Dakota jumped the highest. Everyone had such a good time and went home with a smile. By Joseph F, age 9, room 1. After school, me and Brookey played on the washing line and when Brookey was playing with Larry, well I was going to go to the shed to get the hoop and the electric fence and when I got back I put the electric fence on. I went inside to get a biscuit and I went outside. I put he hoop up on the electric fence and then I put the biscuit on the other side. Larry jumped through the hoop to get the favourite biscuit. By Leah K, age 5, room 8.

At my Mum’s I always pat the puppies. By Alex K, age 6, room 8.
