• Your job is to convince your audience (all of us – teacher, classmates) that YOUR book is one that they should read.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it….

1. Elements of plot (exposition, rising action) - don’t give away the ending.

2. Theme (I.e.: The message I got from this story is…)

3. Your favorite line from the book (directly quoted).

4. Three reasons why we should read it.

5. The ad needs to be about 30 seconds long. Remember: both partners will create their OWN commercial.

Requirements:• Include a show title (Book Talk, Book Chat, Library Lady,

etc.) • Be a character from the book.• Include a script to give to your partner and they will

interview you during that segment. (May be used during presentation.)• Include costumes. (optional)• Include props. (optional)• Include an intro to your show (including title, anchor,

and/or music – be creative!) • Be video-taped at home OR presented live in class. • Be at least 2 minutes and no more than 4 minutes. • Follow the good speaking guidelines.

PREPARATION - Student was prepared for the presentation and remembered what he/she planned to say. The presentation appears to have been rehearsed and not improvised.

 VOLUME - Student was loud enough for the whole class to hear.

POSTURE - Student demonstrated suitable posture.  

EYE CONTACT - Student maintained eye contact with his/her audience.  

EXPRESSION - Student presented with expression, as if he/she was interested in the information. The information was presented in a way that engaged the audience.  

ORGANIZATION - Presentation follows a logical order and makes sense. Presentation has a beginning, middle and end.
