SUMMERTIME EXPERIENCES What are you doing this summer to build your resume?

Summer is a great time to network, volunteer, intern or work in a

sports-related venue. Camps, recreation departments, minor league

teams, collegiate leagues and more are looking for help. All of these

experiences enrich your life and can be added to your resume. We

would love to hear from you. Share what you are doing. We would

like to add your stories and pictures to our newsletter. The group

above were brought together recently as we honored long time Strik-

ers President Tim Robbie. Tim is moving on to new endeavors. We

thank him for what he has done for many years to promote soccer and

the many opportunities he has given our students some of whom are

now full time employees of the organization. Go Strikers!

SITE VISIT MIAMI DOPHINS TRAINING FACILITY

Professor Olson recently paid a visit to the Miami Dolphins Training Facility to see Jeremy Klawsky

and Michael Villegas in action. Both have been assisting Dolphins Video Director Mike Nobler since

early May. Before heading to the “bubble” or outdoor practice fields, Mike Nobler has a meeting with

his staff giving them their assignments for the day based on the practice schedule which he receives

from the coaches. The team’s units including special teams, offense and defense are filmed from vari-

ous angles. In fact, the filming is often specific to the quarterbacks, offensive line and defensive line.

As soon as the practice is over the film crew is busy uploading and editing what was captured at prac-

tice. Jeremy and Michael also help identify the players in each play so that the coaches can quickly

know who was in a particular play or find a specif-

ic player. The coaches want the film as soon as

possible so the video crew must work quickly.

We welcome Mike Nobler to South Florida. He

was hired earlier this year by the Miami Dolphins

after serving as the Video Coordinator at Nebras-

ka. He hopes his department serves as a “winning

edge” for the upcoming season.

SITE VISIT JCC MACCABI GAMES AND ARTSFEST

Kris Kelleher is very busy this summer. His last internship, which was at the NSU RecPlex, has turned into

a paying job. In addition he is getting internship credit by assisting the David Posnack Jewish Community

Center which is hosting the 2015 JCC Maccabi Games and ArtsFest. These games and the ArtsFest are the

largest Jewish youth event in the world! From August 9—14, 2015, Broward County will host more than

1,200 Jewish teens (athletes & artists) from around the globe and across the United States. This event will

involve thousands from our community.

The games are Olympic-style sports competition for Jewish teens that fosters mutual respect and sportsman-

ship. ArtsFest is a unique program for creative Jewish teens who have a passionate interest in the arts.

Kris has been doing a variety of tasks including contacting the various delegations regarding arrival and de-

parture times, organizing signage, answering lots of calls, organizing medical forms, uploading insurance

information forms and attending several meetings regarding the logistics of the games. NSU is an important

site for the event and Kris will serve as the site coordinator at the RecPlex.

The event requires many helpers and you don’t have to be Jewish to volunteer. Call (954) 501-2015 to help.

Crystal Group Awards Two Students with Innovation Scholarships

Hiawatha, Iowa, USA – Crystal Group Inc., a trusted manufacturer of rugged commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) custom-developed computers, displays, switches, and storage devices, an-nounced today the two recipients of the Crystal Group Innovation Scholarship. The Crystal Group Innovation Scholarship is awarded annually to two full-time students pursu-ing an undergraduate degree within a qualified engineering or business related program. An award of $1,000 each will be put towards their education at the institution in which they are enrolled. Tiffany Kelly is a senior at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida who is pur-suing a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management. Following graduation Tiffany plans to attend LSU to earn a Master’s degree in analytics. At Nova Southeastern University Tiffany founded the Business of Sports Student Association and is a member of their co-ed business fraternity Alpha Kappa Psi. Tiffany’s goal is to work for an NBA franchise in their analytics de-partment. Trevor Kirsch is a senior at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Upon receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering he plans to pursue a Master’s degree with a focus on transportation engineering. Trevor is the president of the Wayne State University's Chapter of the Chi Epsilon engineering fraternity. Once finished with his academic pursuits, Trevor would like to work as a transportation engineer. About Crystal Group Inc. Perform other duties and projects assigned by management of CTS.

Seek and analyze competitor marketing and sales material both on and of-

fline.

Relieve management of clerical work, administrative and business details.

Assist with all aspects of office support (i.e. mailings, phones, faxing, pro-

cessing).

Perform analysis of marketing and sales data.

Maintain filing system, computer database, and contact lists.

Flexible to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal communication skills, and customer relations’ skills.

Ability to interact with management and employees at all levels within the company, clients, and customers. Must be at-

tentive to details. Internet, PowerPoint, Word and Excel experience a must.

Bi-monthly compensation based on hourly rate. Minimum of 25 hours each week, maximum of 40 hours

Work can be done from a remote location. Projects will be done with established deadlines. Regular face to face

meetings. Phone meetings with office staff and supervisor will take place multiple times each week.

Position: Graduate Assistant – Sales / Ticketing

Description: The Graduate Assistant for Sales / Ticketing will manage all aspects of: ticketing operations, sales, coordination, service and reten-

tion for all NCAA Division II sports.

Help in developing and implementing sales strategies for season tickets, group tickets, and single-game tickets.

Assist in the renewal process for season tickets with a strong emphasis on annual ticket holder retention.

Contact new ticket holder prospects through telephone, e-mail, and in-person meetings.

Provide customer service to all ticket holders throughout the season and on game day to boost retention.

Manage all ticketing operations including ticketing system upkeep, player pass list, and ticket reconciliation

Recruit, hire, train and oversee ticketing student staff.

Serve as game day point of contact for all ticket related troubleshooting issues.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from accredited college/university; GRE Completion; Acceptance into the Graduate School at UWF; a strong

desire to work in the field of Athletics. Demonstrated ability to set and act on priorities that accurately reflect the relative im-

portance of job responsibilities while working under conflicting demands. Skill in working independently and following through

with minimal direction, and ability to identify more effective methods of work operations. Skill in speaking clearly and distinctly

to effectively communicate with the public over the telephone, in the office, and at events. Ability to perform duties with a great

degree of accuracy, meeting deadlines, working effectively under conditions of frequent interruptions and workload fluctuation.

Analytical skill to evaluate information, identify and resolve problems. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working rela-

tionships with staff members, vendors and other university constituents. Demonstrated ability in organizing projects and supervis-

ing student staff. Ability to maintain a positive attitude in difficult situations. Willingness to work a "flex" schedule including

nights and weekends as required by professional responsibilities.

Benefits: Candidates selected for graduate assistantships will receive a ten-month stipend in the amount of $8,000.00 and out-of-state tuition

waiver where applicable. Graduate assistants must maintain a 3.0 GPA throughout assistantship to maintain financial package.
