Fight Like A Girl
When one of our favorite alum, Sarah Ables, approached us about doing an event together with the Meadows Center we could not turn it down. We hosted 3 different women, one of them being an alum, tell us their stories and how breast cancer has effected them. Caymen (Fall 07) told us her courageous story of a decision that changed her life for the best. Dr. Hines, who many of us learn math from, shared her battle with breast cancer and her journey back to recovery. And Noelle, who helped Sarah out on this program, shared with us her love of life. It was a night of inspiration and tears of joy, learning that life is so precious.
Senior Spotlight: Melissa Reiner
Spring 2011- I was the chosen lucky one to meet up
with Mel (Fall 10 from UTSA) and show her around
our house when she came to make her final decision
about transferring. I don’t know if it was my great
tour that I gave or because UNT is an awesome
school, but regardless she made the move from
UTSA (Lambda Gamma) to us and we could not be
more thankful. Since joining us she has been our
scholarship chair and a constant reminder to us all
to just have fun and not to take life too seriously. She
has enriched our lives in so many ways, Gamma Phi
is not complete without her beaming smile and
laughter. Mel will be graduating in August with a
degree in Fashion Merchandising and Digital Retail,
and soon after will become a resident of Dallas. She
has joined our chapter and has definitely left her
mark, we know that everything she does in the future
will be nothing less than amazing!
This year in the middle of Think Pink we decided to add a new event to help us raise more awareness. We hosted a night filled with pasta and sold lots of our merchandise to raise money. All of the UNT community, not just greeks came into our home and were able to have endless amounts of pasta with friends. It was chaotic but so worth it!
Yogurt
Eating
Contest
This month we also held our 2nd annual Yogurt Eating Contest. We had around 40 teams signed up from all different organizations. Our night consisted of friends, peeling pink lids, chugging yogurt, and most importantly LIDS. From this night we were able to collected hundreds of lids, we are so excited to be get a final count before we have to send them in.
