Northwest Kansas All-StarVolleyball Classic have beenannounced by Colby Com-munity College.The game, which will fea-
ture area high school sen-iors will begin at 1 p.m.,Sunday, Nov. 11 at the ColbyCommunity Building.Sheriff Singhateh, Rawl-
ins County’s only volleyballsenior, will be playing onTeam #4. Her teammates will be

dan Shay from Scott Com-munity High School.Team #4 will play Team

senior, has been selected toplay in the NorthwestKansas All-Star volleyballtournament sponsored byColby Community CollegeSunday, Nov. 11 in the ColbyCommunity Building.The first games will
begin at 1 p.m., followed bymore at 4 p.m. with thechampionship finals set tobegin at 6:30 p.m.There will be five teams
comprised of exceptionalsenior volleyball playersfrom the area who werenominated by their coaches.
“I appreciate my coachesand Lady Buff teammateswho believed in me the pastthree years and made vol-leyball a sport I love,” Sher-iff said. “I will miss playingwith you, but believe me,I’m going to continue beinga huge supporter of LadyBuff volleyball.”She also said she hopes a
lot of volleyball enthusiastswill come to watch the all-star games and cheer forher team.Sheriff is the daughter
of Karl and Jolene Sing-hateh.
Kansas State won againlast Saturday, beating apretty good Oklahoma Stateteam 44-30 and improving to9-0.The Cats forced five
turnovers in the game astheir defense rose to the oc-casion again.KSU did have an injury to
their ace quarterback, CollinKlein. He had completed 16of 22 passes for 245 yards andrushed for 64 yards beforegoing down in the thirdquarter.As of Monday, fans were
still awaiting word on his in-jury status.On game day when he
went down, the injury wasunspecified. Klein was, once again,
very solid in his play beforethe injury. He was replacedby backup quarterbackDaniel Sams. Fans are still waiting to
know if Klein will be able toplay this week against TexasChristian, another toughfoe. Everyone is on pins andneedles as they wait to findout more.Klein is tough and if there

Prairie Museum of Art, History kicks off seriesThe Prairie Museum of Art and His-
tory will begin its “Food for Thought”series at noon, Thursday, Nov. 15 witha talk on the history of the NorthwestKansas Research-Extension Centergiven by Dr. Freddie Lamm.A light lunch will be served. The
program is free and open to the public,though donations are welcome.What was then known as the Colby
Branch Experiment Station was au-thorized by the Kansas legislature in1913 and established the following year.Like the other branch stations inKansas, the objective of the Colby Sta-tion has been to research agriculturalpractices best suited to the particularsoil and climate conditions of the re-gion. In 1987, the station merged withthe Northwest Area Extension Office
and was given the name by which it isknown today.Lamm grew up on a farm in central
Missouri. He is a Research IrrigationEngineer who has worked at the Re-search Center in Colby since 1979.
