called the meeting to order.Roll call was answered witha patriotic slogan or song.Betsy Holste read the min-utes of the September meet-ing after thanking Wilda forcovering her absence. ElmaLee Erickson gave the trea-surer’s report.The nominating commit-
tee of Ruth Hayden and Ar-lene Glad presented theirnew slate of officers for 2013.Elected were Lea, president;Betsy, secretary; and Wilda,treasurer with EmmaThrelkel, cheer chairman.Lea reminded club mem-
bers of their committees forthe Christmas party and dis-
cussed having a donation orgift exchange. That will bedetermined at the nextmeeting.Well-organized kits were
handed out by JudithLaBash for the members tomake patriotic favors for theGood Samaritan Society res-idents. After much gluingand visiting, the favors werecompleted. Wilda served homemade
pumpkin pie from her falldecorated table, which wascomplete with pumpkin can-dles. Union will meet at 1:30
p.m., Wednesday Nov. 14, atthe home of Violet Beims.Maxine Phelps will give theprogram “Honor Flight.”The roll call will be to sharethe name of a RawlinsCounty veteran. Wilda willhave recreation.

ber meeting were read andapproved. Sandy Mulliganhanded out invitations toeach member to come to herhome at noon Dec. 20 whereshe will serve a brunch forthe ladies. Each member isto bring two dozen cookies toexchange with each memberbefore going to the church toassemble their projects.The December project
will be assembling yo-yoChristmas ornaments. Eachperson should have their yo-yos ready and bring themalong.Jeanne Searls was in
charge of the project in No-vember and she had it allready to assemble. Each per-son had a kit that Jeannehad prepared to make aRudolph the Red Nose Rein-deer lapel pin.Those present were
Jeanne Searls, Kay Gilbert,Nadine Rather, Gertie Kas-tens, Marilyn Weishapl,Sandy Mulligan, JanetVrbas, Krista Simmingerand Maxine Phelps.Former members who
are now residents joined inmaking the lapel pins. Theywere Viola Castens, LoreneFranklin and Norma DeeHolthus. Several of the resi-dents joined the ladies andalso were happy to maketheir own Rudolph pin towear.Krista and Gertie served
a pumpkin dessert and theGood Samaritan Society fur-nished the drinks.

Atwood Lions Clubmembers are planning tomake Christmas a littlemore cheery for some localfamilies by teaming up withthe Ministerial Alliance todistribute approximately 50to 60 food boxes to the needyin Rawlins County.“If you have non-perish-
able food items for thecounty food pantry, call 626-3020 and we will take it foryou,” Lion Jeane Beamgardsaid.Anyone knowing of a
family or individual who isin need of a food box shouldcall Bill Beamgard at 626-3020 or the UnitedMethodist Church at 626-3855 between 8 a.m. andnoon.“It is helpful for us to
know the number of per-sons in the family and ifthere is an infant when wepack up the food boxes,”Beamgard said.The boxes will be deliv-
ered Dec. 17 during the af-ternoon.“Atwood Lions meet at 6
p.m., on the second andfourth Mondays of themonth in the ChristianChurch,” Beamgard said.“We appreciate everyonewho donates to our commu-nity projects. We are here toserve.”
