Style, comfort and relaxing atmospheres can be created very affordably with a little ingenuity!

Bedrooms should be decorated in calm at relaxing colours if you want to get a good night’s sleep! They should also be neat and tidy, otherwise as you enter the room to sleep you mind will be bombarded with clutter and mess, which does not afford relaxation.

One of the most cost effective ways to decorate a bedroom is to paint it! A little time spent on appropriate DIY preparation will be well rewarded by the end result. Spend time filling it small dents and cracks using a ready to use filler, wait for it to dry before rubbing lightly with glass paper to give a smooth finish.

When painting over deep, dark colours or very intense bright primary colours, it will be advisable to give the walls a couple of coats of white or pale cream as a base coat.

This years muted tones in pantone yellow and sage greens are ideal colours to use in a bedroom. They provide a gentle and calming effect. Either of these colours look stunning when coordinated with crisp fresh white or pale creams. These colours also work well with natural wood, which can be either as a wood blind hung inside the recess of the window, as the accent pieces of furniture or stripped floor boards.

Tiled floors or stripped boards can look striking in a bedroom. They are both easy to keep dust free and provide texture to a room. Rather then placing rugs either side of a bed, placing a large rug partly under the bottom half of the bed not only provides a warm surface to step onto, it will also provide a more unusual look to the room.

Keeping all clothes well out of sight is an absolute must! Use wardrobes and cupboards to store and hang clothes, above all make sure the doors are

always kept closed on them! Nothing spoils the visual effect more than having piles of clothes strewn over the floor or half hanging out of drawers! Take a look at any interior design image-you will never see such things!

Bedrooms such also reflect personal interests with objects displayed on the tops of dressing tables and chests of drawers. However, these should not becoming a dumping ground for papers! You are trying to achieve a sense of harmony, not having items which remind you of things you haven’t completed, such as work.

If you like reading, place a pair of matching table lamps on the bedside tables. Having identical lamps can provide a sense of cohesive and harmony to the room.

Place wall art above the bed head, although you won’t be able to see it when you are in bed, you will look at it every time you enter the room. The only exception to this is if you have an ornate headboard or contemporary bed which is the main focal point.

Bedding is extremely important. Ensure you have beautiful bedding which coordinates with the colour scheme of the room. Discount stores have some wonderful and very affordable bedding which will bring style to a bedroom. The number one rule is always make the bed! There is nothing more demoralising than walking into a bedroom which has an unmade bed. Psychologically there is nothing more relaxing than getting into a neat freshly made bed!

It used to be that you had to have a mansion to have a media room in your home; however as people get more plugged in to everything, a media room just makes sense. It is the perfect spot for a family to enjoy movies, the Internet and electronic games.

While we spend so much of our decorating energy trying to find ways to bring light into a room and reflect it as much as possible, in a media room you want the exact opposite effect. You want as little light as possible, because you do not want to detract from the movie screen.

No Light, No Reflection

When we try to minimize light reflection in a media room it is not enough to simply close the curtains, because the movie itself is a light source. So when there is a particularly bright scene in a movie you do not want the light bouncing around the room and distracting the audience. Our eye naturally sees movie detail better in a dark room, and the colors on the screen look more vibrant when viewed in dim light.

Think Dark

So now we need to basically think of what we normally do when designing a room and do the opposite. Since light neutral colors reflect light, then it only makes sense that darker shades would absorb the light. You also want to avoid bold dark colors like blue, green or red as these colors can actually reflect tinted light back to the TV screen and alter the color of the picture.

What Colors Work

The best colors to use on your media room walls are dark colors that really absorb light like charcoal grey and chocolate brown. While black would also work, you do want to remember that you may want to use your media room with the lights on, and black walls are a little bleak. So by sticking with dark neutrals, your media room will function well and look great.

If your room is large enough to have a screening section of the room as well as other areas, you may only want to paint the walls in the immediate vicinity of the TV screen in dark neutrals. Then choose medium to lighter neutrals throughout the rest of the media room. Remember the ceiling as you are deciding your painting scheme. It should be dark also. Keep in mind that with all of this darkness it is important to install good lighting to use when you are not enjoying a movie.

Finish Flat

While it is great to paint your media room a dark neutral, you do not want to have any shine or reflection in your paint finish either. Keep

your paint finish flat, and never use high gloss or semi gloss paint finishes. You also want to consider shine and reflection in your accessories and make sure that you stay away from glass and metal, or any shiny surface for that matter, to keep light reflection to a minimum.

By keeping a few of these rules in mind, your media room will be a much more enjoyable room to spend time watching your favorite movies.

Whenever most people start decorating for the coming Christmas, they typically set up with the Christmas tree and adorn it with lights and other fancy embellishments. It’s true that conventional Christmas ornaments almost constantly seem to focus round the jovial evergreen, with its broad range of adornment choices and unique pine scent.

However, there are ample more potential to help you adorn your home with multicolored touches inspired by Mother Nature and the winter period. The dark green color often linked with the Christmas ornaments are an amazing background for red, gold and silver accents. The twigs of trees such as the Balsam Fir, Fraser Fir or Scotch Pines which can be made to beautify mantelpieces, shape a foundation for center table arrangements or offer a lovely setting for Christmas wreaths.

Here are a few ideas for Christmas decorations to draw out a cheerful look into your home, both inside and out:

1. Centerpiece decoration for the merry table: Do you have a set of petite wicker baskets stored in your kitchen or lying around in your garage? You can make use one of these baskets to shape the foundation of a table ornament for a unique

holiday lunch or dinner. Make use of some floral foam or oasis to secure pieces of fir, holly or pine -- then put in some accents to set off the design such as berries, pinecones, even tree embellishments.

2. Beautify a doorway or arch by making use of a garland of pine rope. Add some nice touch ups by frilling it with matching colors and shapes such as bows or ribbons, pinecones, dried fruits and full spices.

3. Hang a Christmas wreath on your front door or front porch to greet Christmas carolers and your holiday guests. You can find a broad assortment of designs and types to go well with your taste and match the rest of your holiday decors. If you prefer to make some alterations, search out for extra unique stuff like boxwood as a substitute to the most common holly or pine. You can customize your wreath with natural or painted pinecones or berries -- and, of course, jazz it up with a very lovely ribbon to add more elegance and compare its colors!

Should you opt to purchase a standard Christmas wreath, garland or swag, you have all sorts of potential for garnishing it in your own special way. One better feature of these added extras is that you may be capable to disengage them when it’s time to get Christmas ornaments down and store them up for use again for next season. The next Christmas season, you can just take them out from the attic and make a new one.

Wonderful ornaments such as Christmas wreaths, door garlands and swags sets off your Christmas tree and lengthen the winter evergreen theme to other areas of your home, both inside and out. Using some imagination and ingenuity, you can customize store-bought stuff to give them an exceptional look and appeal.

Whether your living room is a 21 foot length with a large picture window at one end or you live in a tiny apartment and the living room is bijou to say the least, there are living room décor ideas to suit you and your budget. You can go for cozy chic and warm up your living space or go for open-plan with vaulted ceilings and an expanse of herringbone hardwood floor. At the end of your project you will have ended up with a space that you can live in comfortably, decorated according to the space you have avail-able. Are you aiming for a peaceful retreat, full of serenity and harmony or a more user-friendly, basic living space where you feel comfortable slipping your shoes off and putting your feet up.

If I was choosing a color scheme for my living room I would go to the cooler colors on my color wheel chart - the blues and greens which can be used in different shades to achieve a ‘joined-up’ look of cool elegance. I always make sure that, when I paint my ceiling, I use a light shade of the room’s main color on my ceiling so, if my color scheme was blue, I would use the lightest eggshell blue I could find for my ceiling and then a slightly deeper shade of blue for my walls. If you have mouldings you could paint those completely white, or go for a darker shade of blue to both the walls and the ceiling. I would use matt paint on my walls and a paint with some kind of sheen on the mouldings.

For windows, to add height, place the curtain pole as high as

possible near to the ceiling. This will give your curtains plenty of drop to achieve an elegant drape. Modern décor arrangements always suggest that the fabric should be allowed to pool on the floor - never in my house. To me, artistic though it evidently is, this ‘pooling’ idea for the fabric is just a dust collector and, if you have dogs like I do, is just asking them to make a bed out of the fabric! Why did I mention this? Find out what the trends are, but that does not mean you have to follow the trends slavishly. Adapt styles to suit you and your lifestyle.

You would think, wouldn’t you, that a large picture placed on the wall in a small room would be overpowering. Surprisingly, it isn’t. I have the tiniest lounge you can imagine and, on the wall above the fireplace I have a really large picture of the Defence of Rourke’s Drift, depicting the British soldiers of ‘B’ Company, South Wales Borderers. This picture is very loud, very busy, with plenty going on in it. However, it looks absolutely fantastic in that room, almost as if the room was made to fit the picture!

Vinyl flooring, also called resilient flooring, requires a smooth surface to perfectly cover the surface. Resilient means that is designed to repel the weight of objects that hits it. It is available either in tile or sheet de-pending on the need. It has been found out that the solid vinyl is more durable than vinyl composi-tion. Further, there are three basic categories namely homogenous, inlaid, and layered composite.

Cleaning is the most important task when the living room is covered with vinyl. The first step to cleaning is to make sure that the area is well ventilated to avoid accumulating moisture from the damp mop that will be used in the clean-up process. Next is to choose a floor cleaner manufactured only for vinyl floor-ing. It must not require more such as heating before it can be used so that the person can save time and effort.. A vacuum cleaner is not advisable to use since it may scratch the floor. Then spray a small amount of cleaner to the floor and wipe it with the mop. A sponge is also recommended since it absorbs water and dirt easily. Warm water is suggested to be used over cold water. Continue spraying and mopping the floor until there are no more residues that can be seen. Lastly, make sure that there are no soap residues from the cleaner and the surface is dry enough to avoid slipping.

Next to cleaning is the main-tenance task. The thickness of the vinyl flooring determines its performance and the amount of maintenance needed. The time and temperature upon installation must be within accepted standards. It is important that the temperature is just right so that the adhesives won’t tear and will work properly. For atleast five days, there should be no rolling of heavy objects for the position of the newly

glued vinyl might change. Marks of compressed adhesive will be permanent so anything that may cause this must be avoided. For the day that the vinyl flooring is installed, all seamed areas must be protected and no one should walk on it.

Regular maintenance includes simple vacuuming and washing occasionally with a floor cleaner is done every week to remove accumulated dirt and dust. Sometimes, the rough surface of the vinyl tend to gather dirt more than those smooth ones. However, the spills like soda that leave stains must be immediately wiped off to avoid staining that will damage the vinyl’s beauty. There must be non-staining rugs that are placed to sections that are prone to spill over or anything that causes stain to prevent staining too.

Once a year, stripping is done to remove the soap build up made by the normal cleaning. When losing shine, a polish specially made for vinyl flooring is used to recover its shine. Being very careful when moving objects such as sofas and cabinets is a must for the movement may cause scratches. These scratches can make the dirt stay on the holes made. This is why when moving something; it is advised to cover the floor with plywood to avoid having scratches. In addition, moisture beneath the vinyl flooring must be removed. It is much difficult to clean moisture than removing stains.

When exposed to air, coffee beans will oxidize. Coffee grounds suffer this more so because they have a larger surface than the beans and lack the beans’ protective skin. Home coffee grinders allow you to stop the level of exposure and produce the freshest grind. Most importantly, grinding can be done when you need it.Everything has a price, though. Picking the best grinder can make the messy and long process of grinding much more rewarding.

There are three main types – blade, crusher and burr. The crusher is the ancient way of using a pestle and mortar to mash the beans. This process is difficult and gives an uneven grind because it just crushes them – not highly recommended. Blade grinders chop. The blade whirls, slicing the beans into small grounds – still not the best because the grains are not the same size and not all the oils are released, varying the flavour and dissipating a lot of the flavour. However, burrs use motorised plates with teeth that are pyramid in shape, allowing for the perfect grind. Better burrs allow for varied grain sizes because the speed can be adjusted accordingly. The burr allows for the perfect brew. Speed control keeps the heating of the beans low.Burrs have two categories. Professionals prefer the conical. It is noisy however. Good ones can go up to 500 rpm. Top quality ones go up to speeds of 10

thousand rpm, with their blades spinning at about twenty to thirty thousand rpm. This allows for fine grinds for Turkish coffee, for example. Some come with a dial for continuous speed adjustments. Others have buttons for some varied 40 different speed adjustments.Beyond that you should look for ones that are solid in construction, easy to clean and preferably less noisy. They should also include a brush for cleaning and easy to remove upper type burrs (blades). Beware of con-struction materials that cause static electricity. This can let the grounds stick to the blades and the container.Other useful features include a timer and an auto-switchoff. It also helps to be able watch the beans as the grinding takes place. Without this you cannot decide if the grind is ready. So, try to find one that doesn’t use glass or darkish plastic as this hinders your view. You should be able to judge the grind by its colour, but if you cannot see them then this is a problem. Finally, do your research and read all the reviews you can find about each grinder that interests you before you buy it. When you find the right one, you will be pleased with the fresh and flavoursome cup of coffee you produce.

from Weber’s Real Grilling™ by Jamie PurviancePrep Time: 15 minutesMarinating Time: Grilling Time: 8 to 12 minutes

Dressing• 3/4 cup pineapple juice• 2 tablespoons mild chili sauce• 2 tablespoons white wine vinegar• 1 tablespoon soy sauce• 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard• 1 teaspoon dark sesame oil • 1/2 cup sliced almonds • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves, about 6 ounces each• Canola oil• 1/2 teaspoon nely chopped fresh marjoram• Kosher salt • Freshly ground black pepper• 4 cups mixed baby greens• 1 four-inch section cucumber, halved lengthwise and thinly sliced

1. In a medium saucepan, whisk the pineapple juice, chili sauce, vinegar, and soy sauce. Bring the mixture to a boil, reduce the heat, and simmer until 1/2 cup remains, 15 to 20 minutes. Transfer to a medium bowl. Whisk in the mustard and sesame oil and allow to cool to room temperature.

2. In a medium skillet over medium heat, cook the almonds until lightly toasted, about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

3. Lightly brush or spray both sides of the chicken with oil. Season with the marjoram and salt and pepper to taste. Grill over direct medium heat (350°F to 450°F), with the lid closed as much as possible, until the meat is rm to the touch and no longer pink in the center, 8 to 12 minutes, turning once. Cut into bite-size pieces.

4. In a large bowl, combine the greens, chicken, almonds, and cucumbers. Drizzle the dressing over the top (you may not need all of it) and toss to evenly coat the leaves. Serve immediately.

from Weber’s Art of the Grill™ by Jamie PurviancePrep Time: 20 minutesMarinating Time: Grilling Time: 1-1/2 to 2 hours

Glaze• 1 cup hoisin sauce• 1/4 cup honey• 1/4 cup red wine vinegar• 2 tablespoons grated fresh ginger• 1 tablespoon minced garlic• 1 tablespoon sesame oil• 2 teaspoons curry powder • 3 racks baby back ribs, 1-1/2 to 2 pounds each• Kosher salt• Freshly ground black pepper• 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the glaze ingredients. Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally, and cook over low heat for 2 to 3 minutes to blend the avors. Remove from the heat.

2. Remove the thin membrane from the back of each rack of ribs. Allow the ribs to stand at room temperature for 20 to 30 minutes before grilling.

3. Liberally season the ribs with salt and pepper. Grill over indirect low heat (250°F to 350°F), with the lid closed, until the meat is very tender and has shrunk back from the ends of the bones, 1-1/2 to 2 hours. About 15 minutes before the ribs are done, begin occasionally brushing them with the glaze on both sides.

4. Transfer the ribs to a baking sheet and tightly cover with aluminum foil. Let rest for 30 minutes before serving. Sprinkle the ribs with the sesame seeds.

Is there any drink more fun and refreshing than an ice cold milkshake? I don’t think so. Milkshakes are a part of North American food culture and have spread all over the world. Here’s my list of the best milkshake recipe you can find anywhere.

Classic Vanilla Milkshake – Made with vanilla ice cream and vanilla extract. The original “plain” milkshake is still a crowd pleasing favorite. Adding a maraschino cherry on top makes it a little more special.

Old Fashioned Chocolate Milkshake – Made with chocolate or vanilla ice cream (depends on how intense you want the chocolate flavor), milk and chocolate syrup. This is always the second most favorite milkshake flavor. It’s so easy to make and delicious to drink!

I Love Strawberries Milkshake – Made with strawberry ice cream, milk, fresh strawberries and whipped cream. Yum! Makes me ravenous for one just thinking about it.

Purple Cow Milkshake – Made with grape juice, banana and milk. Purple cows are cool (and very rare). This milkshake is a real treat for kids and kids at heart.

Chunky Monkey Milkshake – Made with vanilla ice cream, chocolate chips, banana and instant coffee. This milkshake may cause you to spontaneously get up and do the chunky monkey dance.

Cherry Vanilla Milkshake – Made with vanilla ice cream, maraschino cherries, milk and chocolate syrup. A chocolate covered cherry in your glass.

Shamrock Milkshake – Made with vanilla ice cream, low fat milk, mint extract and green food coloring. Pretty simple milkshake that you can enjoy at home, even though a certain well-known burger place doesn’t make them any more.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Milkshake – Made with creamy peanut butter, milk and chocolate syrup. A nice alterna-

tive to a peanut butter sandwich.

Caramel Latte Milkshake – Made with coffee ice cream, milk and caramel syrup. Just as good or better than any drink at your local coffee or donut shop, plus, you can make this at home anytime you’re in the mood to treat yourself with some-thing extra special.

Whoppers Malt Milkshake – Made with vanilla ice cream, chocolate malt syrup and whipped topping. This is the easiest way to make a milkshake that has that old fashioned malt taste.

Adrift in our memory banks are the smells and tastes of the food of our childhoods. One whiff of something familiar coming from the kitchen and we are instantly kids again. And no food is more closely aligned with that of childhood than the chocolate chip cookie. Warm and gooey, hard and crunchy, filled with nuts or deliciously plain, the chocolate chip cookie embodies all that is sweet and wonderful about childhood.

As owners and operators of the Toll House Inn in 1930’s Massachusetts, Ruth Wakefield and her husband tended to all of their guests’ needs in an effort to give them a unique experience. Ruth herself worked in the kitchen, quickly gaining popularity with her scrumptious desserts. One favorite, the Butter Drop Do cookie called for baker’s chocolate. Having run out of baker’s chocolate during one of her weekly cookie bakes, Ruth instead substituted semi-sweet chocolate from a bar given to her by one of her guests – Andrew Nestle of Nestle Chocolate Company. Needless to say, the new chocolate chip cookie became quite a hit, as tasters enjoyed the softened chocolate nestled inside the cookie

– a far cry from the baker’s chocolate, which melted entirely.

The chocolate chip cookie rocketed to stardom taking Nestle’s semi-sweet chocolate along with it. Eager to align his company further with this popular treat, Andrew Nestle traded Ruth Wakefield a lifetime supply of chocolate for the rights to print her chocolate chip cookie recipe on all of his chocolate packaging.

That famous recipe stands today delighting generation after generation with its simple goodness. Of course, as the years have gone by, those trying to elevate the chocolate chip cookie to the next level have added all manner of different ingredients. Contests are held all over the world in search of the best chocolate chip cookie. But most cookie enthusiasts will tell you that the very best chocolate chip cookie is the one that is simple in its creation. As the saying goes, sometimes less is more.

For the baking challenged among us, the chance to make the chocolate chip cookie is still within our grasp. Advancements in packaging have given way to pre-made chocolate chip cookie dough – ready to slice and bake; no mixing of ingredients, no mess of any kind – and in 10 minutes you have fresh baked cookies right out of the oven.

But if you want to give chocolate chip cookie making from scratch a try, you can always find the sweetest recipe of all – right on the back of Nestle’s Chocolate Chips!

Hey Reena,I had a delicious peanut butter oatmeal bar today. A piece fell off and I didn’t see it so I spent about half of the day (at work) sitting on it which caused a little grease mark on my 100% cotton, light colored pants. What is the best way to remove this stain? Christopher

Dear Christopher,Sounds like something that would happen to me. If possible sprinkle the area with either cornstarch or baby powder. Doing this will absorb grease. Before washing your pants, cover the area with dish soap and water. Dish soap is designed as a grease cutter and does wonders on grease stains. Either spray the pants with spot remover or simply wash as usual. Check the stain before tossing the pants into the dryer because the heat of the dryer will set any remaining marks. Repeat if necessary.

Dear Reena,I notice many of your responses to people focus on stains and smells. I’m hoping you might have a suggestion for how to “dry clean” clothes at home? Hedie

Hi Hedie,Begin by removing all stains with dish soap and water or vinegar and water (use the correct spot remover depending on the stain culprit and fabric content, test on an inconspicuous area first). Next purchase a home dry cleaning kit for use in a standard dryer. One such product is “Dryel”. This kit is easy to use in that you place your clothing item in the dry cleaning bag along with a specially formulated “cleaning sheet” and let it run in your dryer, usually for about a half an hour. Next hang or lay the item flat (in a ventilated area) so that residual chemical odors have a chance to dispel. Follow all instructions on the package.

Dear Reena,Firstly, I sent six ‘Household Solutions Gift Packages’ to my family in the east and they were blown away with the thoughtful gesture, so thank-you for taking care of my order. Secondly, I need help; I cannot seem to decorate sugar cookies that look professional, they always end up clumpy and dry. I use buttercream to ice my cookies and then decorate them with sprinkles but they always look like my five year old made them. Any suggestions? Iris

Dear Iris,Help is on the way! The first step to the perfect cut out cookie is to make your favorite dough recipe and then refrigerate it for a few hours or overnight. Cut and bake as usual. To decorate your cookies use Royal Icing: Beat 4 room temperature egg whites in a large bowl until foamy. Gradually add 4 cups icing (confectioners’) sugar and half teaspoon almond, butter or lemon extract. Beat at high speed until thickened. Use this icing to outline cookies then thin your icing with a small amount of water or milk and pipe or spread it inside of the icing border using a spatula. Allow the icing to flow and cover the entire cookie within the border.

Fabulous Tips from Reader:Dear Reena,I would like to share my old recipe for play dough. It is similar to the one you printed but it is cooked. I have found that it is softer, stays moister and is not ‘gritty’ like some of the others. I keep it in sandwich-size sealable bags and store it in the freezer.

It literally keeps for years. It also makes an incredible icepack. It is super cold, not messy, can be molded to whatever part of the body you want, turn it over, and when it is warm, just throw it back into the freezer.

My play dough recipe: In a heavy bottom pan, put one quarter cup salt, 1 cup flour, 1 tbsp. cream of tartar, 1 tbsp. vegetable oil, and 1 cup water. Cook over medium heat. You must stir constantly as it will stick when it starts to boil and thicken.Remove from heat and knead (with rubber gloves because it is very hot). Once cool, add a few drops of food coloring and work it in. I find your column most interesting and practical. Thanks. Barb

Dear Reena,With regards to the shrinking pie crust challenge: First of all be careful when making pie crust not to add too much water to the crust, the dough has to be a little dry, and don’t overwork the dough. Roll out the dough, then invert the pie pan, and place the dough on the outside of the pie plate. Using a fork poke the dough all over, then bake until golden brown. When baked (handle gently) tip the pie plate and have another exact pie plate ready and place the crust into the other pan. Presto a perfect pie crust. Olga

Dear Reena, LOVE your page in the paper; I have gotten some great tips! The pie pastry tip I learnt going back generations is, place another pie pan on top of ready to cook pie crusts and turn upside down for baking. I place mine on a cookie sheet in case it dribbles. Cool upside down, remove spare pie pan and fill with pudding etc.

Feedback regarding stain on 100 year old Christening gown:

I used borax and also gave it a rub with Sunlight bar soap. I then put it outside in the sunshine to dry. It worked great! Thanks for your advice. We had the Christening and everything turned out fine! Sharon

The Bailey name has long been associated with funeral services in Melville, every since W. T. (Bill) Bailey was the community’s funeral director during the first half of the twentieth century, starting in 1914.

He was later assisted by his son Ray Bailey. It was here that W. Allan Bailey, the founder and president of Bailey’s Funeral Home, was first

introduced to the profession, assisting his grandfather and father.

In 1983, Allan Bailey opened a Chapel in Melville, bringing the family name back to the community after an absence of about three decades.

The Melville Chapel is located at 101 Fifth Avenue West.

To ensure that a funeral ceremony is truly a reflection of the life lived, we appreciate the opportunity to explain the options available to you,

and the services we provide.

We want to ensure that you understand your choices, and have the information you need to make a decision when

you are ready.

2004 Chevrolet Venture

The Ford F100 Truck series gave birth to one the most collectible series of Ford trucks, the 1953, 1954, and 1955, and 1956 models. It was on Ford's Golden Anniversary Year, that the two zero's were added to the F1 series, and the newly re-styled Ford 100 truck was introduced.

The new styling was dramatic, a big one piece curved windshield was added along with newly designed fenders and hood. It is interesting to note some of the items that were still "optional" on this 1953 Ford Truck included a rear bumper, heater/defroster, and a right side tail light. Standard items included an inside rear view mirror, and electric horn, hub caps, and a chrome front bumper.

The 1954 F100 offered up a V8 motor for the first time in a Ford pick up truck. With the 1955 Ford F100 you could order the optional "Custom Cab" Package, which included a front seat with 5" of padding, two tone exterior paint themes, chrome plated vent windows and other "luxury" items.

The 1956 F100 truck was a totally redesigned affair, and had an optional "big back" wrap around window (a $16 option), which is a highly sought after by Ford F100 Truck collectors today. An optional 272 cubic inch V8 motor made the 1956 Ford F100 the most powerful pickup truck in Ford's history.

The 1956 Ford F-100

Head Into Winter With ConfidenceAttention!! Hyundai Owners

You don’t need us to tell you that Canadian winter weather brings special challenges with it. There’s no better way to deal with them than by ensuring your Hyundai is in top condition before the first snow falls. When you bring your vehicle to your Hyundai dealer, it will be serviced by specially trained professionals who spend each and every day working on Hyundai vehicles. They’re knowledgeable, experienced, and know your vehicle inside and out - spotting and solving small problems before they lead to potential repairs.

Call and book your Winter Maintenance Package today!Nitrofill Nitrogen maintains your tire pressure far better than regular air because the oxygen molecules in compressed air are much smaller and leak out 3 to 4 times faster. Air also contains oxygen and moisture that rots your tires and corrodes your wheels and valves.

BY FILLING YOUR TIRES WITH NITROGEN YOU’LL GET BETTER FUEL ECONOMY, LONGER TIRE LIFE, IMPROVED SAFETY...AND SO MUCH MORE.

The 2007 Chrysler Crossfire has a very distinct monochromatic look and metallic paint job and the unique design of the automobile giving it a very modern and stylish look to this superior automobile.

When the engineers at Chrysler designed the Crossfire safety was on the forefront as well as the stellar look and excellent performance capabilities.

Some of the standard safety features on the Crossfire are an Occupant Classification System for the front passenger seat, multi stage driver air bag in the front, a passenger frontal airbag, driver and passenger knee airbags, driver and passenger seat belt pretensioners, and driver and passenger force seatbelt retractors. All of these standard safety features make the Crossfire one of the safer cars available today.

The interior on the Crossfire is extremely roomy and luxurious as there is a two-tome interior mosaic that adds a sense of style to the cabin. The telescoping steering wheel is leather trim and can be easily adjusted by the driver. The stereo inside the cabin gives the feel of a live concert as it features speed sensitive automatic volume control and a standard AM/FM stereo radio CD player with four speakers spread throughout the cabin. The Crossfire features a duel zone semi automatic temperature control system that has specific settings for both the driver and passenger.

The Crossfire has a standard ESP that is specifically designed for the driver to have as much control of the car as possible even under extreme conditions. The ESP has the ability to know when the car starts to spin or plow and will automatically correct the

course by taking over control of the throttle and aiding in individual wheel braking to keep the car on course as this gives added stability when turning. The Crossfire has 4-wheel antilock brakes with a Brake Assist system that allows for excellent braking abilities on any type of surface even if the car is traveling at accelerated speeds. Power steering also comes standard on the Crossfire coupe. The distinct body design on the Crossfire was especially designed to have a low coefficient of drag and because of this the car easily cuts through the wind.

The Crossfire suspension is state of the art as the front features an upper and lower “A” arm independent with coil springs, gas-charged shock absorbers and stabilizer bar. The rear suspension features 5-link independent with coil springs, link stabilizer bar and gas charged shock absorbers. These features allow for maximum control and drivability as well as superior traction.

The Crossfire is a very sexy car that has sleek curves from bumper to bumper. What is impressive about the Crossfire is what is under the hood as the car features a powerful 215 horsepower 3.2-liter V6 engine that has awesome pick up as it accelerates from 0-60 mph in an impressive 4.9 seconds and hits a top speed of 154 mph. The look of the Crossfire is very distinct as it can be spotted immediately with its tapered “boat tail” look that highlights the Crossfires 19-inch rear wheels and 18-inch front wheels.

The designers at Chrysler made an excellent automobile with the Crossfire as the car perfectly blends a luxurious high tech interior and superior performance with a look that is nothing less than sexy and dynamic, not to mention unique.

People who are just starting out with their love of snowmobiles might not have any idea what to look for when they are trying to pick out the right snowmobile to fit their needs. With the high cost of new snowmobiles and the uncertainty of used ones, buying a snowmobile can be an intimidating venture. With a little bit of research and some buying tips, a new snowmobiler can be confident in making a snowmobile purchase.

For first-time snowmobiler owners, buying a used snowmobile might be the best option. Investing a lot of money into a brand new snowmobile when you are not sure how long your enthusiasm will last could lead to a waste of money for something to sit in storage for years. Purchasing a used machine will allow you to gain experi-ence on a snowmobile that has been broken in already. This will help you learn the nuances that go along with gliding across the snowy landscape rather than needing to learn the feel of a snowmobile that has never been ridden.

But there are some other more specific things to remember when choosing the best snowmobile for you, too. To choose a machine to fit your needs, first decide what your needs are going to be. If you want to learn how to compete in snowmobile competitions, you will want to find a high-performance sled that is designed for racing and optimum performance. Other snowmobiles are designed specifically to make it easier to travel through deep snow which would be ideal if you live in an area that receives a large amount of annual snowfall. Others are designed for recreation and are not made to travel at high speeds.

The engine size that will best fit your needs is related to what you will be using your snowmobile for, too. Research information about what engine size is designed for specific snowmobiling needs. Larger engines typically have more horsepower which results in higher speed possibilities. One of the disadvantages, however, is that the larger the engine, the heavier the snowmobile. If you will be loading and unloading your machine regularly, a larger engine may not be your best option. Ideally, inex-perienced riders will want to stick with less horsepower to avoid the temptation of

testing its abilities before gaining the necessary riding experience.

When purchasing a snowmobile, you will also want to find out the options for modifying the equipment. If you find your ideal snowmobile but want to change certain things (such as the skis, for example), find out how easy it is to do this or if it is even possible. Decide on the aspects you are willing to deal with in exchange for aspects that you are not pleased with. For example, would you rather have a high-performance machine that is more difficult to operate and load or a machine with less horsepower but is easier to maneuver? This could prove to be an important decision that will affect your overall enjoyment of your snowmobile.

Asking yourself a lot of questions before deciding on the best snowmobile to fit your needs is vital in choosing the right one. Snowmobiles can be a great investment in your recreational opportunities and they can be costly. Therefore, doing research on the various models that are available to you along with the advantages and disadvantages of each will be sure to provide you with the maximum potential for enjoying the outdoor winter landscape.
