When we think about Christian living, we

get excited about big sto-ries such as an incredible answers to prayer, people coming to Christ, unimagi-nable stories of healing and other types of miracles, but God’s work is often subtle and simple. He works in the day-to-day while leading us closer and closer to eternity. While it is often unnotice-able, God’s greatest work is the changing of a person’s character. Despite popular opinion, people do change,

but only when we are sub-missive to God. When we allow God to rule our lives, He will slowly refine us into the person that He has called us to be.

Of all that God want us to be, His highest priority for us is that we are faith-ful to Him with the life that He has given us. You may remember Jesus’ parable about a man that entrusted his servants to care for his money. In the story, there were two servants that invested their mas-

ter’s money wisely, and the master replied to the both of them, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your mas-ter’s happiness!” (Matthew 25:21). As our faithfulness to God increases, the more God can use us for a greater purpose.

We are in the midst of our small group series called Faith and Finance,

The Power of Gratitude

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, con-fusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a strang-er into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow.

Celebration Sabbath

Join us on Sabbath, November 21 for our

Celebration Sabbath. We will be celebrating what God has done during our Faith and Finance series and in our small groups. We look forward to hearing from the groups and how God has been working with each group.

Every celebration needs some good food.

Please plan to stay after church for a feast that will be provided by our small groups and church mem-bers. The small groups will each bring some soup and church members will bring crackers, corn bread, finger sandwiches, etc. It will be a time of fellowship and shar-ing some food.

Don’t miss it. =

and while it’s nice to know sound money principles that gives a little more financial security, we must always keep in mind that stewardship is so much more than learning to live with-in our means. It is recognizing that our Creator has entrusted us with His resourc-es, and He requests us to be faithful to our responsibilities. The way we deal with money could be the greatest indicator on faith-fulness to God. Money shows us how much we value the pleasures of the world, how much we live with disregard to the future, and how much we acknowledge God by the way we give back to Him.

In the end of our six week series, my greatest prayer is for us to continually grow in the faith that God always provides, and the

evidence of that faith is shown by our actions.

November’s Sermon Calendar

November 7 - Saving and Investing. Wisdom

from the Bible says, “pre-cious treasure and oil are in a wise man’s dwelling, but a foolish man devours it” (Proverbs 21:20; ESV).

God has given us the resources to fulfill His purpose for our life, and a wise man will be intelligent with their money on how they spend or save it. When we do follow God’s princi-ples on finances, we are able to live with

a greater sense of freedom and the way God intended us to live

November 14 - Rewards of Financial Faithfulness. We conclude our Faith and Finance ser-mon series with a call for patience. Jesus told John, “Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done” (Revelation 22:12). When we live less for the immediate satis-faction that comes from squandering and tempta-tion, we are able to make choices that have eternal value.

November 21 - Celebration Sabbath. After every small group series, we spend a Sabbath high-lighting the experiences from each of our small groups. The groups will share what they learned from the past six weeks, and we will conclude the series with a celebration

fellowship dinner that brings us all together.

November 28 - God is Good. For this Thanksgiving weekend, we will have a message that reminds us of all the amazing things that God does for us. The Psalmist says, “With my mouth I will give great thanks to the Lord; I will praise him in the midst of the throng” (Psalm 109:30; ESV). It is so important to uplift God in praise and also uplift each other with encourage-ment.

See you when the church gathers. =

sprinkler system. Thank you for your support! A special thanks to those who came out and helped setup and tear down. Also a big thanks to our Pathfinders and their leaders who worked so tirelessly all day long.

If you have borrowed something from the kitchen (pots, pans, knives,

etc.), please return them. We seem to have quite a few things missing. Thank you.

Squanto, the Native American who helped

the Pilgrims, has a back-ground remarkably simi-lar to that of Joseph in Genesis.

Years before the Pilgrims arrived in America, English traders kidnapped Squanto and other Native Americans and sold them as slaves in Spain. Incredibly, Squanto was bought by monks, who set him free and taught him about Jesus. Later Squanto sailed to England, hoping for passage to America. But he had to wait years, so he worked as a stable hand and learned English. Finally able to travel home, he was devastated to find his tribe wiped out by

smallpox.

A couple of years later, the Pilgrims came ashore, tired, sick and having lost many shipmates on the way. Implausibly, they encountered an English-speaking Native American, who shared his friend-ship and knowledge. Like Joseph going from his homeland to Egypt and from slave to expert leader, Squanto experienced God’s leading — even when the path was littered with misfortune.

Using Squanto, God saved a whole community. What some intended for harm, God turned into good (see Genesis 50:20). =

In November 2014, many Facebook users accepted

a gratitude challenge, post-ing what they were most thankful for. An anony-mous analysis of the posts revealed the top answers: friends (not surprisingly, for a social-media site), family and health.

State-by-state results garnered the most interest, though. Arizona residents were most thankful for the rain, for example, while Hawaiians gave thanks for rainbows. People in the Northeast were grateful

for living near the beach, while those in the Bible belt expressed gratitude for mercy, salvation and God’s Word.

Top thankfulness top-ics in other states ranged from YouTube and coun-try music to “upbringing” and in-laws. What are you most thankful for, and why? =
