Smar installs major automation system in ThailandSmar was instrumental in the successful installation and

operation of an automation system for NY Sugar Co. Ltd.in the city of Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, 200 milesfrom Bangkok. This refinery operates with four cookersand produces 820 tons of super granulated sugar daily.

"This successful project resulted from the efforts ofeveryone involved and will be followed with a visit of theNY Sugar directors to Brazil. In addition to NY Sugar,Smar also installed six DT301 density and concentrationmeters at the Mitr Phol UFIC, Khon Khaen Sugar andMirtr Phol Kalasin mills. The sugar facility installationsenhance our market presence in Thailand and increase thepotential for future business," says Jayme Tamaki Jr., SmarBusiness Development Manager.

"With the penetration of these products in the sugarindustry and as additional sugar plants observe theefficiency of the NY Sugar automation system, we willexperience higher visibility and interest in Smar productsin the Thailand market," adds Sompon Wongcharern, headof Smart Control & Application, Smar local representative.

Environmental protection with oil recycling program

Smar has implemented a soluble oil recycling systemin its main mechanical manufacturing unit at thecompany's headquarters in Brazil. This system recyclesthe oil used for metal cutting during the milling process.Once the oil is dispensed, the residues are separated and

the used oil is mixed with new oil to be reused. Theremainder is then treated in a floating process thatseparates water from the heavy residue. The water is thentreated and discharged clean, and the residue is incinerated.

To put the system in place, it was necessary to replacethe previous oil with a viable alternative that wouldfacilitate recycling without impeding the manufacturingprocess. Smar is now using a 100% biodegradable canolavegetable oil produced by Blaser Swisslube.

In addition to promoting environmentally friendlymanufacturing, the oil recycling is bringing economicbenefits to Smar. "During the first 30 days of use, thesystem experienced a 25% decrease in oil consumptionon the machines in comparison to the previous month",says manufacturing unit manager, Wilson Luiz Cury.

He also points out that environmental protection inthe industry goes beyond waste treatment. The processbegins with the selection of equipment and services."When hiring services and purchasing material, we choosesuppliers who support environmental concerns. It is alsoa decisive factor in equal condition bids," notes Cury.

commercialization, exploration, treatment, refining, transportation and drilling; as well as companies dedicated tosupplying equipment to the Oil & Gas industry, were present.
