First Manned Space Flight
The first manned spaceflight took place on April12, 1961. Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin made oneorbit around the Earth aboard the Vostok 1spacecraft. The rocket was launched by the Soviet space program and designed by the rocketscientist Sergey Korolyov. This stamp commemorates it's 50th anniversary.
Georgy Beregovoy
Georgy Beregovoy was aSoviet cosmonaut whocommanded the spacemission Soyuz 3 in 1968.
Paintings of TarasShevchenko
In 2011, Ukraine once again featured a painting of TarasShevchenko. This year's painting was "Kazashka Katya,"painted in 1857.
Leaders of Cossack Uprisings
Hryhory Loboda (upper left) was a Kosh Otaman of the ZaporizhianCossack Host. Severyn Nalyvaiko (lower right) was the leader of theUkrainian Cossacks. They both participated in the Nalyvaiko Uprising(15941596), an uprising against the PolishLithuanian Commonwealth.

Vanity Stamp 2011
Unlike previous vanitystamps, the 2011 stampscontain a very small stampon the bottom, denominated"V" for domestic mail.Above it, a label wasprovided where customerscould get their own customimage printed or the ukrposhtsa logo.

The Constitution of Ukraine wasadopted and ratified at the 5thsession of the Verkhovna Rada(parliament) of Ukraine on 28 June1996. This stamp celebrates it's 15thanniversary,

A typical Ukrainian farmhouse is pictured on thisstamp, showing animalsthat would be seen on it'sgrounds. In the upper leftthere is cat. The upperright shows sparrowstending a nest full ofhatchlings. The middleshows a cow. The lowerleft has a dog, and a pig isshown on the lower right.

Locomotives
The 2011 Locomotives stamps all feature locomotives that pull passenger trains. The DPL 1 (upperleft) and DEL 02 (upper right) are both diesel locomotives. The EPL 2T (lower left), and EPl 9T (lowerright) are both electric locomotives.
Dirigible Airship Kiev
The Russian dirigible airship Kiev was designedand built by Fedor Ferdinandovich Anders in1911. The first flight was August 6, 1911.
Ukrainian Independence
The Act of Declaration of Independence ofUkraine was adopted by the Ukrainianparliament on August 24, 1991. The Actestablished Ukraine as an independent,democratic state. This stamp celebrates it's20th anniversary.

Babi Yaris a ravine in theUkrainian capital Kiev and asite of a series of massacrescarried out by the Nazis duringtheir campaign against the Soviet Union. The most notoriousand the best documented ofthese massacres took place onSeptember 2930, 1941,wherein 33,771 Jews werekilled in a single operation.
Tatyana Markus
Tatyana Markus was an antiNazi ResistanceFighter born in the Ukrainian Jewiish shtetl ofRomny. She was caught, tortured and shot byGestapo in Babi Yar. On 2006 she wasposthumously awarded the title of Heroine ofUkraine and three years later her monumentwas unveiled in Babi Yar.
Ivan Franko National University ofLviv
Ivan Franko National University of Lviv is one ofthe oldest in Eastern Europe. It was founded onJanuary 20, 1661 when King Jan Kazimierz IIsigned the Diploma granting the JesuitCollegium of Lviv "the honour of the Academyand the title of the University.
Natalka Poltavka Film Opera
In 1939, the Soviet Union made a film from the Opera NatalkaPoltavka, written by Mykola Lysenko. The plot follows a young couplein love, and what happens when the young man leaves to earn enoughmoney to marry his love.

Happy New Year and Merry Christmas
To commemorate the New Year and Christmas,Ukraine issued a setenant pair. The stamp on the leftshows Father Frost brings a bag of presents. Thestamp on the right shows a group of people going tochurch on Christmas day.
Europa Forests
The 2011 Europa Stamp theme was "Forests."Ukraine issued a setenant pair showing two scenes ofa forest from a worms eye view. The left stamp showsa forest in summer and the right stamp a forest inwinter.
