SOFTBALL PICNIC - will be held Sunday, September 9th

from 2-6pm at Snyder Park in Whitehall. ************************************************** EPHPHATHA! BE OPENED! – Even as we read the

accounts of the miracles Jesus worked, like the healing of the

deaf and mute man in today’s Gospel, we are amazed at the

powerful love of God at work to heal and strengthen us. In

particular, Jesus’ cry of Ephphatha! (be opened!), is not simply

so that the deaf man’s ears would be open and that his tongue

would be freed. It is also a call for his heart to be opened in

faith and trust in God. The Lord cries out Ephphatha! for us,

too, that we might be opened to his powerful love at work for

and in and through us. This is not only for our benefit, but for

the benefit of our parishes, our communities, the Church and

the world. As we prepare for the implementation of the On

Mission for The Church Alive! initiative, the Lord invites us to

be opened to the work of the Spirit so that we can be

strengthened for the work of building the Church. If we can be

amazed by what God works for those in the Scriptures, we can

certainly be amazed by what God can work through us. Visit

onmissionchurchalive.org to learn more and to stay informed.
