Felix Grossschartner Cumhurbaşkanlığı Türkiye Bisiklet Turu’nun 55 yıllık tarihindeki ilk Avusturyalı şampiyon oldu.

ll TUR 2019’un Sakarya ile İstanbul arasında düzenlenen altıncı ve son etabı ise Lotto Soudal takımından Caleb Ewan’ın zaferiyle bitti. Avustralyalı bisikletçi böylece TUR’da ikinci kez etap kazandı. Etapta ikincilik Fabio Jakobsen’e, üçüncülük de Sam Bennett’a gitti.

Cumartesi günü Kartepe’de sona eren Kraliçe Etabı’nı kazanarak Turkuaz Mayo’yu sırtına geçiren Felix Grossschartner ise etabı pelotonla bitirdi ve böylece Cumhurbaşkanlığı Türkiye Bisiklet Turu’nun 55 yıllık tarihindeki ilk Avusturyalı şampiyon oldu.

Kırmızı Mayo’yu Thimo Willems (Sport Vlaanderen-Baloise), Yeşil Mayo’yu Sam Bennett (BORA - Hansgrohe), Beyaz Mayo’yu ise Feritcan Şamlı (Türkiye Bisiklet Milli Takımı) kazandı.

Felix Grossschartner became the first Austrian champion ever of 55-year-old Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey.

ll Caleb Ewan of Lotto Soudal won the sixth and last stage of TOUR 2019, held between Sakarya and İstanbul. Thus, Australian rider took his second stage win on this year’s TOUR. Fabio Jakobsen took the second place, while Sam Bennet was third.

After winning the Queen Stage in Kartepe on Saturday, and having the Turquoise Jersey, Felix Grossschartner managed to finish the last stage with the peleton and thus, he became the first Austrian champion ever of 55-year-old Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey.

Thimo Willems (Sport Vlaanderen-Baloise) won the Red Jersey, while Sam Bennett (BORA - Hansgrohe) took the Green, and Feritcan Şamlı (National Turkish Cycling Team) took the White.

Caleb Ewan of Lotto Soudal won the last stage of TOUR 2019, while Felix Grossschartner of BORA – Hansgrohe won the general classification.

Starting in April 15 in İstanbul and rounding Sea of Marmara, 55th Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey ended on Sunday, 21 April, at Sultanahmet Square in İstanbul.

Ahmet Akdilek was in the breakawayThe sixth and the last stage of TOUR has kicked off in Sakarya. Six riders managed to break in the beginning of the 172,4-kilometer-long stage: Ahmet Akdilek (Turkish National Team), Mauricio Moreira (Caja Rural - Seguros), Lorenzo Fortunato (Neri Sottoli), Hayato Yoshida (Nippo Vini Fantini Faizane), Emerson Oronte (Rally UHC Cycling) and Thimo Willems (Sport Vlaanderen-Baloise). However, Moreira gave up and returned to the peloton in around 15 kilometers.

Fortunato took the sprint primeThe sprint gate was located on the 29th kilometer.

Lorenzo Fortunato won the prime ahead of Ahmet Akdilek and Hayato Yoshida. Since no riders in the break were threatening the Green Jersey, Sam Bennett guaranteed to win the sprint classification after this gate.

Willems took back the Red JerseyThe only climb of the day was located on the 57th kilometer. Thimo Willems won this 3rd category climb to take back the Red Jersey which he lost to Felix Grossschartner previous day, and guaranteed to win the climbers’ classification. Fortunato ranked second at the gate, while Ahmet ranked third.

Willems took the last Beauties of Turkey primeAfter the gates were passed, peloton started to reduce the gap which was more than 5 minutes at one point. Ahmet returned to the peloton just before the last 15 kilometers. Beauties of Turkey sprint prime at the 14 kilometers from the finish was collected by Willems, Yoshida and Oronte respectively. Feritcan Şamlı had already guaranteed to win this classification before the start.

Evan made it to the endThe remaining four riders in the breakaway were caught 5 kilometers left to finish and front part of the peloton started to get ready for a sprint finish. Sam Bennett made a move after the Çatladıkapı turn in the last 2 kilometers and kept the lead until the last 300 meters. However, Caleb Ewan (Lotto Soudal) made his own attack as soon as he saw Bennett struggling, and got his second stage win on this year’s TOUR. Fabio Jakobsen of Deceuninck Quick-Step took the second place, while Sam Bennett was third.

Grupta Türk Milli Takımı’ndan Ahmet Akdilek’in yanı sıra Mauricio Moreira (Caja Rural - Seguros), Lorenzo Fortunato (Neri Sottoli), Hayato Yoshida (Nippo Vini Fantini Faizane), Emerson Oronte (Rally UHC Cycling) ve Thimo Willems (Sport Vlaanderen-Baloise) yer aldı. Ancak Moreira, yaklaşık 15 kilometre sonunda gruptan ayrılarak pelotona döndü.

Sprint kapısında ilk sıra Fortunato’nunEtabın 29. kilometresinde geçilen sprint kapısında ilk sırayı Lorenzo Fortunato, ikinciliği Ahmet Akdilek, üçüncülüğü ise Hayato Yoshida aldı. Kaçıştaki hiçbir isim Yeşil Mayo’yu tehdit etmediği için, Sam Bennett (BORA - Hansgrohe) TUR’un en iyi sprinterine verilen mayoyu garantilemiş oldu.

Willems Kırmızı’yı geri aldıGünün tek yokuşu 57. kilometrede tırmanılırken, 3. kategori bu tırmanışı ilk sırada geçen Thimo Willems, bir gün önce Felix Grossschartner’e kaptırdığı Kırmızı Mayo’yu geri almayı ve TUR’u tırmanış klasmanı şampiyonu olarak bitirmeyi garantiledi. Bu kapıda ikincilik Fortunato’nun, üçüncülükse Ahmet’in oldu.

Son 300 metrede rakibinin yavaşladığını görüp kendi atağını yapan Caleb Ewan TUR’da bu seneki ikinci etap zaferine uzandı.

At the last 300 meter to finish, Caleb Ewan made his own attack as soon as he saw struggling his rival and got his second stage win on this year’s TOUR.

üzerine çıkan zaman farkını kademeli olarak azaltmaya başladı. Son 15 kilometreye yaklaşılırken Ahmet ana gruba döndü. Bitime 14 kilometre kala geçilen Türkiye Güzellikleri sprint kapısında ise ilk sırayı Willems, ikinciliği Yoshida, üçüncülüğü de Oronte aldı. Feritcan Şamlı etaptan önce bu klasmanı birinci bitirmeyi garantilemişti.

Sonunu Evan getirdiKaçan dörtlü de bitime 5 kilometre kala yakalandı ve

ana grupta artık sprint finişi için hazırlıklar başladı. Son 2 kilometredeki Çatladıkapı dönüşünün ardından hafif yokuşu fırsat bilen Sam Bennett atak yaptı ve son 300 metreye kadar da öndeydi. Ancak bu noktada rakibinin yavaşladığını görüp kendi atağını yapan Caleb Ewan (Lotto Soudal), TUR’da bu seneki ikinci etap zaferine uzandı. İkincilik Deceuninck Quick-Step’ten Fabio Jakobsen’e gitti. Sam Bennett ise etap üçüncülüğüyle yetindi.

ll TUR 2019’un şampiyonu Grossschartner, kupasını aldıktan sonra basın mensuplarına açıklamalarda bulundu. BORA - Hansgrohe takımının 25 yaşındaki tırmanışçısı şöyle konuştu:

“Bu turun tarihindeki ilk Avusturyalı şampiyon olmak çok güzel. Umarım bu zafer ülkemdeki gençlere de ilham kaynağı olur ve Avusturya bisikletinin gelişmesine katkıda bulunur. Çünkü bu spora gönül veren gençler, kendi ülkelerinden yetişmiş bisikletçilerin böyle başarılar elde ettiğini gördüklerinde daha fazla motive oluyorlar.”

Grossschartner, son etaba ve TUR’a dairse şunları söyledi:“Yarış kuvvetli bir ters rüzgârla başlamıştı. Son 2 kilometredeki yokuş da zorluydu. Ama takım arkadaşlarım beni o noktaya kadar güvenli bir şekilde taşıdı. Sam Bennett ile birlikte gitmeyi kararlaştırmıştık. O, etabı almayı denedi ama bu kez başarılı olamadı. Bu benim kariyerimdeki ilk World Tour zaferim. Bu

“TUR’da bir kez daha etap kazandığım için çok sevinçliyim. Bugünkü etabın sonu oldukça zordu. İstanbul’da önceki yıllarda yapılan finişleri izlemiştim. Bu yıl, 3-4 sene öncesine nazaran kendimi daha güçlü hissettim. Sam Bennett’in atak yapabileceğini tahmin ediyordum. Ama beklediğimden

daha erken atak yaptı. Sonrasında yorulup geriye doğru baktığını gördüm. Devamı getiremeyeceğini düşününce ben atak yaptım ve etabı kazandım. Finişte son virajların tehlikeli olduğunu biliyordum. Herhangi bir kaza yaşamadan çizgiyi geçtiğim için mutluyum. Beni destekleyen takım arkadaşlarıma çok teşekkür ediyorum. Burada kazandığım iki birincilik özgüvenimi daha da artırdı. İnanıyorum ki bu sene bu tip etap zaferleri almaya devam edeceğim.”

ll The Australian sprinter of the Lotto Soudal told at the press conference as follows:

"I am very happy that I have won the stage once more. The end of today's stage was quite difficult. I have crossed finishes in Istanbul in previous years. This year, I felt more powerful in comparison with previous 3-4 years. I was guessing that Sam Bennett could make an attack. But he attacked earlier than I expected. Then I saw

you getting tired and looking back. When I thought he couldn't get more, I had an attack and I won the stage. I knew the last corners were dangerous in the finish. I'm happy to cross the finish line without any accidents. I'd like to thank my team members who supported me. The two victories I got here increased my confidence. I believe that this year I will continue to get this kind of stage victories more."

Felix Grossschartner, Cumhurbaşkanlığı Türkiye Bisiklet Turu’nun 55 yıllık tarihindeki ilk Avusturyalı şampiyon olmaktan mutluluk duyduğunu söyledi.

ll 55. Cumhurbaşkanlığı Türkiye Bisiklet Turu geride kalırken, Türkiye Bisiklet Milli Takımı sporcuları da World Tour seviyesinde bir yarış tecrübesi daha kazanmış oldular.

Tamamı Salcano Sakarya Büyükşehir Belediyesi kulübünde pedal çeviren milli bisikletçiler arasında genel klasmanda en iyi dereceyi Mustafa Sayar elde etti. 29 yaşındaki tırmanışçı, TUR’u 29. basamakta bitirdi.

İki yıldır Onur Balkan’ın kazandığı Beyaz Mayo ise bu sene Feritcan Şamlı’nın oldu. 25 yaşındaki sporcu, ilk etapta kaçış grubunda yer alarak sırtına geçirdiği mayoyu bir daha bırakmadı ve kariyerinin en önemli başarısını elde etti. Feritcan genel klasmanı ise 77. tamamladı.

Onur Balkan, Kartepe’deki Kraliçe Etabı’na genel klasman 12’ncisi olarak girerek adından söz ettirdi. Onur, TUR’u 42. basamakta tamamlarken, Halil İbrahim Doğan ve Ahmet Örken ilk 40 sporcu arasına girmeyi başardı. Takımın domestikleri Ahmet Akdilek 65., Muhammed Atalay ise 90. oldu.

Yeni genel menajer Kairat Baigudinov’un göreve gelişinin ardından sadece iki aylık bir kamp süreci geçirebilen ve TUR’dan önce üst seviyede yarış koşma şansı bulamayan Türkiye Bisiklet Milli Takımı’nın tüm üyeleri, tüm etapları zaman limitleri dahilinde bitirdi ve böylece takım, TUR 2019’da hiç fire vermemiş oldu.

National Turkish Cycling Team's 25-year-old rider made a proposal to Merve on podium before the stage during the introduction of teams.

Feritcan asked to Merve who’s been his girlfriend for 10 years. “Would you agree to spend the next long time of your life with me, honey? Will you marry me?” and Merve answered theese questions: “Yes, with all my heart!”. The couple then crowned these happy moments by dancing shortly on the podium.

ll While 55th Presidential Cycling TOUR of Turkey was behind, the riders of Turkish Cycling Team gained a race experience at the World Tour level.

Mustafa Sayar achieved the best overall rating among the national cyclists who were all pedaled in Salcano Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Club. 29-year-old climber, ranked 29th TOUR.

Feritcan Şamlı won the White Jersey which has been won by Onur Balkan for two years. 25-year-old rider did not leave the jersey that he won at the first stage in the break and achieved the most significant successes of his career. Feritcan ranked 77th in general clasiffication of TOUR.

Onur Balkan started the Queen Stage as the 12th of general classification and made an indelible impression. While Halil İbrahim Doğan and Ahmet Örken were among the top 40 riders, Onur ranked 42nd in TOUR, The domestiqeus of the team, Ahmet Akdilek ranked 65th in TOUR, and Muhammed Atalay ranked 90th.

After the new general manager Kairat Baigudinov took office, the national team could only camp for two months. So they had no chance of racing in a top level race before TOUR. However, all members of the team finished all stages in within time limits and did not diminish in terms of timing at TOUR 2019.
