RAM GC's Striking Oil Again

The XTO Energy project in Tioga, ND started for RAM GeneralContracting, Inc. at the end of September 2012. This project is anoperations facility for XTO Energy which is a subsidiary of ExxonMobile. The building is 40' x 150' x 34' intersected by another 50' x60' x 25' section creating a T-shaped building. A 10-ton crane runsthe full length of the 34' high section. XTO Energy needed allsummer to get their equipment and pipelines in place before thesteel building work could begin.

Due to the stringent safety guidelines the oil company has tofollow, XTO Energy required RAM General Contracting to adhere tosafety requirements specified by an independent auditor. RAMGeneral Contracting's safety manual has been re-vamped to followmore stringent safety protocols and RAM's site superintendentattended safety training in preparation for on-site work. The steelbuilding is currently being erected with strict safety guidelines inplace and should be completed in early December. After the workin Fryburg last year and now the XTO Energy project in Tioga, ND,RAM General Contracting has certainly earned their place in the oilindustry!

The site work included a soil correction, digging footings, backfilling, water main installation, sanitary/storm sewer installation, and preppingthe parking lot.

The rain has really been hindering this project but we keep movingforward the best we can.

We have also been busy finishing spring cleanup of a few all weather

With the air cool and crisp, another beautiful Minnesota fall is uponus. As the leaves are turning colors of soft golden yellows andbright, vibrant reds, it is time to plant for winter beauty. There isstill time to get everything planted and established, before thereally cold weather sets in, to give your yard some color whileeverything else becomes brown and lifeless.

Although the variety of flowers to plant in winter is more limitedthan in warmer seasons, it's possible to plant flowers in earlywinter before the ground freezes. Glory of the Snow has star-shaped petals that poke out of the ground in late winter and earlyspring. The bulbs are planted in the fall and each one produces onestem that grows up to nine inches with a flower in pink, blue, orwhite. Crocus is an annual that has grass-like leaves and bloomsin late winter in shades of white, yellow, and purple. The bulbsneed six weeks of temperatures below 45 degrees to form flowers. Some other flowers that will bloom when there is snow on theground include camellia, pansies, hellebores, and white forsythia.

Even though hardy shrubs and flowers usually don't bloom for along period of time, these winter blooms provide splashes of colorto brighten up the otherwise gloomy winter season.

Wild-Wild West Day!Truhaven Ranch held a fundraiser on September 14th. They did afantastic job of organizing a portrayal Wild West Day. They hadvolunteers in costume, gunfight reenactments, & food servedunder a tent like you see in the old westerns. RAM was amongstthe sponsors, so I was the lucky one from the company whoattended. I had a good time. My favorite part was the time spent inthe stable with the horses. The warm welcome from President,Sarah Smith was much appreciated too.

In addition, we were busy with various other jobs we bid through RAMGeneral Contracting and RAM Buildings, including the site work forthe new McLeod County Maintenance Facility located off of Highway7 in Silver Lake.

Recently, we started a big residential project in Stillwater Township. The crew has been putting in long days clearing and grubbing trees, digging retention ponds, and pushing dirt. They have moved over6,000 yards of dirt so far.

Our busy season of site work, building and shed pads, indoor andoutdoor riding arenas, demolition, and driveway repair isn't quite overyet. Our hard work and fair pricing has earned us enough business tokeep us busy until the ground is white.

The site work included a soil correction, digging footings, backfilling, water main installation, sanitary/storm sewer installation, and preppingthe parking lot.

We have also been busy finishing spring cleanup of a few all weatherpaddock areas that needed some manure removal and touching up.These areas always need to be maintained to ensure water drainsproperly and doesn 't create soft spots that worsen with horse traffic. We have recently landed two large commercial jobs that will do agood job filling our schedule for July. All of the people who work at the ranch are volunteers. Theequines are rescues of abuse and neglect. Not only does the ranchhave a program for the horses but they also have a youth program. The goal of the youth program is to assist disadvantaged youthand at risk youth from the Greater MN area to get an education.

If you are an animal lover, and you have a pet of any kind, youknow how much a part of the family they become. No one wants tosee animals being treated with malice or starved. And what can wesay about our youth? It has been said many times before but it isthe truth, they are the future.RAM feels these are worthwhilecauses and we all need to do what we can to make a difference inour communities.

Go Team! The McLeod County Relay for Life walk was on August 2nd inHutchinson, MN. Relay for Life gives people an opportunity tohonor cancer survivors, promote how to reduce the risks of cancer, and to raise funds to aid in ending cancer. RAM was one of thesponsors for a local team, the Prairie Pacers, out of Lester Prairie,MN. Everyone involved in the event raised over $112,220 forcancer research and Race for a Cure. Thank you to everyoneinvolved for being a part of something so vital to all our lives!

them how to think, not what to think.

Students from Lester Prairie School

In our case, the team was working on their first Community ProblemSolving project. They considered their community of Lester Prairie. They decided that people need to be able to get outside in the winter. So they devised a plan to raise money for the warming house at theice skating rink in town. RAM donated materials and in exchange theboys painted a fence at RAM. The community portion of this programis designed to get the youth involved in their projects and theircommunities.

Employees go Medieval This year we came across an opportunity we could not pass up.Our employees work very hard and we like to show ourappreciation for their dedication to RAM. We were able to gettickets to the Renaissance Festival for the employees and getthem there with families at a largely discounted price if they sochose.

For those of you who have never been there, it is a traveling show.

Fall Fertilization

It is time to fertilize! The most important fertilization of the year isapplied in the fall. Fertilizer applied to lawns in the fall helps rootsystems recover from summer stress and develop food reserves foran earlier and better spring. Your lawn and trees consume a lot morefood in the fall than through the rest of the year. Your entire landscape"shifts gears" in the fall to begin storing food in preparation for theexplosive new growth of spring. Fall fertilization makes nutrientsavailable that may not be present in some poor soils. The healthierthe roots become the better growth you can expect in the spring.

Happy to HelpDear RAM Buildings, We want to thank you and your employees forvolunteering at the burger stand, it was a great success! Without yourhelp we could not have done it. We also would like to thank you forhelping us create our stage by providing the planks. Coronation wasso much fun, especially when I was crowned a 2013-2014 LesterPrairie Ambassador. It is themed to the Renaissance period. They have shows withComedians, Jugglers, Stunts, Story Tellers, Musicians, &Jousting. You can also eat, shop, & drink. My favorite thing to dothere is people watch. Not only does all the cast dress up but ifspectators desire they may dress up renaissance style and get incharacter. They also have some rides and games for the kids. Allin all, there is something for everyone!
