Eid Parties – Thursday 7th July Eid will happen on either Tuesday (5th) or Wednesday (6th). We wish you a peaceful Eid. There will be class parties in the afternoon on

Thursday 7th July. Class teachers will send

letters home with details of the plans for each class’ event.

Sports Day – Friday 8th July Sports Day will be held at Springfield Park again this year. We’ll be in the lower field by the River Lea, where we were last year. All children need to come in their full P.E. kit, including their house T-shirts. We have a huge drinking water tank, so send your child with an empty water bottle, along with a packed lunch and sunhat. The children will be taking part in lots of different athletic events. The points accumulated will decide which house will be this year’s points winner. The entire winning house will go on a special trip to the seaside as its prize. Will it be a repeat of Yellow House’s victory? Or will it be the Blues? The Greens, Reds or Purples? Come and join in the family fun. Bring a picnic too.

Celebration Day – Thursday 21st July Come and join us at The Round Chapel in a celebration of an incredible year at Northwold. It's our prize-giving ceremony, an art exhibition, and a music showcase all in one! Not only will there be awards for children who have worked hard and consequently have made amazing progress throughout this year, but there will also be an exhibition of artistic masterpieces created by your children throughout this year. On top of that, you will be dazzled by music, singing and dance performances by our students. As it’s the last day of term, you can take your child home after the event. Date - Thursday 21st July 2016 Time - 10.00am-12.00pm Where - The Round Chapel, 1 Glenarm Rd, London, E5 0LY Please note: As there is only space for about 350 parents, admission will be given on a first-come, first-served basis, so come early to avoid disappointment. We can't wait to see you there!

Bugsy Malone – Tuesday 11th July

As Fat Sam and Dandy Dan slug it out to control the streets of New York, Busgy Malone becomes friends with Blousey Brown. Will they make it to Hollywood or will Talullah wreck their friendship? And who will get ‘splurged’ out of existence? All will be revealed in the Year 6’s production of the 1976 film. There will be three performances on Tuesday 11th July (see item below for performance times). Tickets will go on sale next week from the Office.

After School Clubs Next week – w.c. 4th July – is the last week of the After School Clubs for this term. We hope your children have enjoyed participating in them.

Bangladesh Trip – Southend On Tuesday 28th June, Year 1 went to Southend to visit the Sea life centre where we saw a range of fish from puffer fish to manta-rays. The children got to touch a crab and a starfish. They learnt the starfish dance and then proceeded to dance all the way to the beach. We had lunch overlooking the water and the children had a wonderful time looking for stones and shells on the beach. The children were exhausted by the time they got back on the coach for the journey home. “This is the best day ever!” – Ayran

Mexico Trip – London Zoo Mexico class enjoyed their trip to London Zoo on Monday 27th June. “Amazing!” Joel exclaimed whilst looking at the penguins. “Their skin looks slippery,” Jubilee told me whilst looking at the hippo's. The children were also excited to see the Komodo dragon and couldn't believe how big the turtles were! “They are as big as my house!” said Shah Jannat.

Pakistan Trip – London Zoo Malachi: Are we getting on a bus? Ms Appiah-Kerr: No, this is a coach! Malachi: It is very nice inside. Our trip to the zoo was so awesome. We had a really good time going round looking at so many different animals. Some children got to touch the dried skin of a crocodile and a snake. The Daddy

Gorilla was sitting down looking at us; he looked a bit sad. The tiger was going from left to right, left to right and left to right, left to... We got points because we listened to the adults we were walking around with at the zoo. The teachers and parents/carers helped us on the trip to make it wonderful! Thank you to all the people who made this trip happen.

NSPCC – Speak Out, Stay Safe

The NSPCC’s’ Speak Out Stay Safe’ programme visited Northwold on Friday 1st July to make sure our pupils have the knowledge and understanding they need to stay safe. This is a nationwide programme for all primary aged children. With the help of Buddy, the presenters did two assemblies and a Year 5 workshop. The theme was that children should speak out whenever they feel unsafe.

Year 5 Cake Sale Year 5 held a cake sale on Friday 1st of July. A fantastic £83.65 was raised for the Children’s Trust. A big thank you to for your generosity towards this wonderful cause.
