PROJECTED HOUSING & SHOPPING In north Oshawa, a shopping centre and two major subdivisions have been approved on the east side of Simcoe Street North (in the vicinity of Conlin Road and Winchester Road). Plans for the new residential developments include a total of 1,300 homes, two elementary schools and one high school. The RioCan shopping centre could include 200,000 square metres, or more than 2 million square feet, of retail space.
The University of Ontario Institute of
Technology (UOIT) has reached an all-time
enrolment high of 9,203 undergraduate
and graduate students – representing a
tenfold increase in 10 years since the first
947 students arrived on campus in
September 2003. As of September 19, the
last day for students to add fall courses,
UOIT recorded an 8.9 per cent increase
over 2011 in overall undergraduate
enrolment from 7,977 to 8,685 with 2,808
being new students. In addition, 518
graduate students now attend UOIT
representing a 16.1 per cent increase over
last year.
