ELDER HOLDEN BIGELOW !Here is a little excerpt from Holden's last letter. "I will tell you a story of a girl named R. She is 20 and is going to school to be a teacher. When I first got into the branch she was an average investigator. She didn't really read or anything because of her school. So we challenged her to read before she studied and she has and she said that she has seen a difference in her studies :) She just accepted an IBD for July 12 :) I am so excited." Holden is doing great. Time is flying by and he feels it. He knows that he needs to keep working hard for his Heavenly Father. He loves the people in the Philippines and he even enjoys the food. He is having great spiritual experiences that will help his testimony throughout his life. The bottom picture is of Holden at his 1 year mark. !

ELDER KYLE WANDELT !Elder Kyle Wandelt returned home on May 9, 2014. He returned home a little earlier than we expected. With all of the political unrest in Ukraine they reassigned over 80 missionaries to the USA and then sent several of them home early, including Kyle. He loved every minute of his mission and loves the people of Ukraine. He is working for Brother Mike McCrery this summer doing construction work and then will move to Orem, Utah in August to attend Utah Valley University.

ELDER ALEX MILLER !Alex Miller will be reporting November 19th, 2014

HERMANA SARAH EDWARDS

!Sarah is serving in Cuatla, Mexico and she describes her surroundings as "humble." Their whole mission is doing a Book of Mormon challenge; reading it cover to cover in 65 days, which is the time it took for Joseph Smith to translate it. She writes, " I love the Book of Mormon! It really is the key to our religion, to our conversion and our ongoing desires to serve the Lord. It is impossible to read this book and not get an answer, if we do so with real intent."

ELDER NATHAN CLARK !Nathan received his call to Philippines Manila Mission. He will report to the Provo MTC on Friday, July 18, 2014. He will prepare to preach the gospel in the Tagolog language.

ELDER BRANDON NIELSEN !May 19: Miracle of the week. The Hart family from the 16th Ward invite two of their friends to hear the discussions. They are Mike (24) and Mitch (20). Mitch was burned really bad as a baby ad has a lot of scars and no fingers. He has a great heart. They both are really humble. The Hart's know these men because their two oldest children, who are both on missions now, went to high school with them. The Hart's oldest son had a Skype lesson with these two friends and we were invited to help teach. We will be teaching Mitch and Mike the rest of the lessons. May 26: Remember in my last area we worked with the Parkinson family. They were less-active. We helped them come back to church. Well their daughter who is 9 decided to get baptised. I was able to go back and attend the baptism. It was such a happy baptism and its great to see the Parkinson's are keeping the faith and still coming to church strong. We had a BBQ after the baptism with the family. It was fun and a great experience. June 2: So great new for the work of salvation here. We should hopefully see two baptisms in the near future. I told you we had taught this girl Aubrey thats 18. She is really committed to hearing the gospel even tough her mom doesn't like it. Aubrey passed a note to her member friend during their high school graduation that said "I hope you will sit in the front row at my baptism." We are teaching Aubrey this Tuesday and Thursday because she wants to hear the lessons faster so that she can be baptised! I mentioned two possible baptisms. They other is Tim. When I first got in this area we set a baptismal date with him but then he moved. Well, he's back! He bore his tetimony on Sunday. We are going to start teaching him again and baptize him.

ELDER TRENT RYDER MAY 19 I WAS REALLY BUMMED ABOUT COMING HERE AT FIRST, BUT THEN I GREW TO LOVE ELDER NELSON AND EVERYONE ELSE IN THE DISTRICT. AND SOMEONE IN EVERY COMPANIONSHIP IS LEAVING. SO, HERE'S THE STORY: ELDER HOLLAND IS COMING TOMORROW, WHICH IS THE DAY OF TRANSFERS, AND WE ARE MEETING IN LANSING, WHICH IS OUT OF THE MISSION AND PRETTY FAR AWAY. SO, PRESIDENT WANTED TO HAVE A SMALL TRANSFER WITH NOT A LOT OF PEOPLE MOVING AROUND TO MAKE THINGS EASY, BUT WE TALKED TO HIM THE OTHER DAY AND HE SAID THAT IT WILL END UP BEING A REALLY BIG TRANSFER AND A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE MOVING AROUND. SO, OF COURSE EVERYONE IN OUR DISTRICT IS GET MOVED AROUND. BUT OUR DISTRICT IS THE ONLY ONE IN OUR ZONE THAT GOT HIT LIKE THAT. OUT OF OUR WHOLE ZONE, ONLY 2 OTHER MISSIONARIES OUTSIDE OF OUR DISTRICT ARE GETTING TRANSFERRED. I'M NOT USUALLY TOO NERVOUS UNTIL THE ACTUAL TRANSFER MEETING ITSELF, BUT WITH SUCH A BIG TRANSFER AND THE FACT THAT I STILL DON'T KNOW THE AREA OR THE WARD VERY WELL AND WE'RE SEEING ELDER HOLLAND STRAIGHT FROM TRANSFER MEETING, I'VE JUST BEEN REALLY ANXIOUS AND ON EDGE THE LAST FEW DAYS.

MAY 26 TRANSFER DAY WAS NUTS. THE WHOLE MISSION WENT TO LANSING FOR TRANSFERS AND AS SOON AS THE COMPANION-SHIPS WERE ANNOUNCED, IT WAS A MAD DASH TO GET EVERYONE'S LUGGAGE LOADED UP INTO THE RIGHT VEHICLE THEN TO ANOTHER CHAPEL IN LANSING WHERE WE WOULD SEE ELDER HOLLAND. ELDER HOLLAND WAS AWESOME. HE SPOKE TO US FOR ABOUT AN HOUR AND A HALF. HE ACTUALLY CAME DOWN OFF THE PULPIT TO SPEAK TO US ON THE FLOOR. I WAS WAY IN THE BACK THOUGH SINCE I WAS ONE OF THE LAST CARS TO ARRIVE AND SISTERS AND SENIOR COUPLES GOT TO SIT IN THE FRONT. AND THERE ARE A LOT OF SISTERS. HE MAINLY SPOKE TO US ABOUT OUR PURPOSE AS MISSIONARIES. HE TALKED ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF TEACHING OUR INVESTIGATORS REPENTANCE

AND THAT WE NEED TO UNDERSTAND IT OURSELVES FIRST. HE ALSO SAID SOMETHING TO THE EFFECT OF "IF I HEAR THAT YOU GOT OFF YOUR MISSION AND WENT LESS-ACTIVE, I'LL SHOOT MYSELF." HE GOT PRETTY HEATED AS USUAL, BUT NOTHING TOO CRAZY. HE DIDN'T SEND ANYBODY HOME OR ANYTHING. I GOT TO SHAKE HIS HAND THOUGH, WHICH WAS SWEET. ELDER HALSTROM OF THE PRESIDENCY OF THE SEVENTY WAS THERE AS WELL AS OUR AREA SEVENTY, ELDER DUNNIGAN. ONE THING THAT WAS SUPER SWEET IS THAT I HAVE BEEN PUSHING PRESIDENT GERBER FOR ARABIC SPEAKING MISSIONARIES OR AT LEAST A WAY TO LEARN IT OUT HERE AND SO WHEN PRESIDENT AND SISTER GERBER HAD DINNER WITH ELDER HOLLAND THAT NIGHT, THEY DISCUSSED IT AND THEY ARE GOING TO TRY AND SEND ARABIC LEARNING MATERIALS TO THE MISSION TO HELP WITH THAT, SINCE THERE IS NO ARABIC TAUGHT IN THE MTC. SISTER GERBER SAID SHE THOUGHT OF ME WHEN THEY DISCUSSED IT, SO IT FELT GOOD TO SEE THAT SOMETHING I DID, WAS WORTH THE EFFORT.

AS FOR NOW, I'M JUST TRYING TO WORK HARD AND FINISH STRONG. WE WENT TO A COUPLE OF BAPTISMS IN ELDER WARNER'S OLD AREAS AND WE GOT A RIGHT TO THEM WITH PRESIDENT AND SISTER GERBER. SO WE GOT TO SPEND A LOT OF TIME IN THE CAR WITH THEM AND TALKED ABOUT WHAT TO DO TO GET THINGS GOING IN THE AREA AND THE WARD. SO, WE DO HAVE SOME WORK TO DO. I HAVE TO GO NOW THOUGH. I LOVE YOU ALL VERY MUCH!

ELDER ALEX BERTHELSON

This week has been really good. It's pretty safe to say that I am at that point of the mission where it is a little bit of a challenge for me to think back at what I did this past week since it all felt like a blur. It feels like the last time a wrote to you guys was just the other day... that's how fast it is going by.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yesterday we finally started the Spanish Group in Lowell! President Packard was even in attendance as well with his wife and son, who just recently came off his mission from Santiago Chile North (diff than Jazz). He ended up translating for them during the fast and testimony meeting. But wow! The sacrament meeting that we had was so strong. Many people from the other Spanish ward (15 min away outside of our mission boundaries) came in attendance to support our group. But we also had a few who were in attendance that haven't been to church in years. It really was a blessing to witness the success of our work. We ended up having a total of 42 people for our first Sunday for the group! We were blessed to have had a lot of those people who hadn't attended church in a while come up to the pulpit and bear their testimonies on how this small little spanish group is like a family. We know that it will take time for it to grow, but all things come in due time of the Lord. I am blessed to know that these things will come to pass and I am a part of it.------------------------------------------------- !Starting off with last Friday, Elder Holland was able to speak to all of our mission and share his thoughts on our missionary/personal efforts and ways that we can better reach out to others. The spirit was so powerful during the whole meeting. I also had the opportunity to shake his hand and meet his wife along with Elder Hallstrom of the 70. All of them spoke and it was just incredible! There are many things that Elder Holland spoke to us about... too many to even be written in this email and many that are very personal, which I know helped further strengthen my testimony and was certainly a blessing my life. It was awesome nonetheless and I know that Elder Holland is a man ordained from God to be in the position of the church that he is in.

HERMANA JASMINE BERTHELSON !The most freezing week ever with all of the rain here. Freezing Freezing Freezing. With rain- you would think that the 32 deg weather would hit,or 0 Celsius but it continued to rain all weekend long. I have been using 2 pairs of leggings, two jackets, hat, mittens scarves,------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I'm not sure if I have shared this with you before, but I love these two verses in 1Nephi 16. This is the part where he and his family are in the wilderness. His bow breaks. Here, Nephi has a Problem. In vs 23, He finds a solution. Not only that, but he asks his father where he can go to find food. If we ever feel like we have trials or problems, We can use our knowledge and resources to find a solution, and we can ask our Heavenly Father what we should do next. I have lived with this knowledge over the last few weeks because these weeks haven´t been easy for me, but I do know what when we identify our problems, we´ve got half of the solution. So, I´ve just got to work with what I´ve got and ask the Lord what I should do next.---------------------------------- Other than that there are a lot of people with problems. And not much else because they don't want to listen to our solution. And we keep visiting them. Haven't lost hope! They will accept the gospel someday :)

HERMANA KENNEDY COLEY !This week was just miracle after miracle. We are really focusing on figuring out who is prepared or who are progressing and who just likes the feel good message but isn’t ready to act. We love all of our investigators but we just have so many that God has given us that actually are prepared that we need to focus on. Another thing we have been doing is repeating the lessons. Instead of doing the three lessons and then reviewing and adding we teach the lesson and then the next time we teach it again in a different way. Also the first vision video is the best! It really ties it all together for some people. We have realized even more how these people really need to have their own testimony about the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith and not just feel good and like everything. Life gets hard but if they each have the fundamental testimonies they will be fine. ............................................................................................................. Our temple trip was perfect timing. I love love love the temple. I love the calmness and the peace. I love being able to get answers to questions. The temple is one of the biggest sources of strength for me. !I KNOW that this is the church of Jesus Christ and that He is our Savior. I Know that we have a loving God who is our eternal father. He has a plan for each and everyone of us. I know that the Book of Mormon is the guide to reaching our potential. I know that we can always rely on our Heavenly Father and Savior. I know that my family can and will live together for eternity. That knowledge helps me daily. This work is truly the Lords work. I am so so so extremely grateful for this life in the gospel.
