It happened. School started, youth group kicked off, summer concluded, families raced to get school supplies, students learned new schedules, and all the sudden – students are a year older! That has turned out to a total blessing – this year our youth group received in the biggest group of 6th graders we have had in recent history. This is good news. We’ve made the decision to have middle school ministry each Sunday night from 5-6 p.m. followed by high school and middle school dinner from 6-6:30 p.m. and then high school group from 6:30-7:30 p.m. each Sunday night. We feel confident that this is going to serve each

EPWORTH IS OUR MINISTRY! Where do children go when DSS has taken them from their families because of abuse or neglect? What about when a mother is struggling with addiction and is neglecting her children? Last year 181 of these children found refuge in the ministry we share as United Methodists in SC. Epworth Children’s Home has been welcoming children in Christ’s name for 120 years through the generous support of churches like ours! We will participate in the annual Work Day Offering on Sunday, September 11, to benefit the children who call Epworth home. Epworth Children’s Home goes above and beyond just food and shelter for children who have experienced abuse, neglect and tragedy. It provides children with tutoring, counseling, health care, fun activities, and the spiritual formation they need to heal and gain a sense of belonging. Through the ministry of Epworth Children’s Home we open our doors to these children, surround them with comprehensive care and provide them with the opportunity to

transform their lives. Without the support of churches like ours, Epworth could not provide transformational care for children in need. We are grateful for the continued support that Trenholm Road UMC has shown to Epworth and ask that you continue to give generously to the children who call Epworth home. For more information, please visit Epworth on the web at www.epworthchildrenshome.org.

If you have been visiting Trenholm Road and would like to join our church, please mark Sunday, September 11, on your calendar as our next “New Member Presentation” Sunday. Those interested in joining the church need to have attended Pastor Mike’s Summer Sunday school class that was offered in June and July. For those who have not attended a New Member class, another one will be offered in the future. Please contact Jennifer Ross at [email protected] or 803-254-6695, ext. 108, if you would like to be presented as a new member in September or if you would like to be on the list for next new member class series. Email her with any questions you may have and/or to set up a meeting with the Pastors as well.

The Major Way To Faith Circle will meet at 1:00 p.m. in the Dining Room on September 13. The guest speaker will be Mary Lee Roper, telling of her husband Ed's experiences during World War II as a prisoner of war. For information call Lorene McGuire, 803-782-7356 or Emily Roberts, 803-738-8241.

Pastor Mike will lead a group trip to SkyTop in the mountains of North Carolina to pick apples! We will leave Tuesday, September 13, from the church parking lot at 9 a.m. and plan to return by 6 p.m. The cost for the trip will be $10 per person, plus you will need money for any apples you purchase and lunch. Register via email to Jennifer Ross at [email protected] or by clicking on the SkyTop banner on the main page of the website (www.trumc.org). For more information about what SkyTop has to offer, go to www.skytoporchard.com.

In South Carolina we experienced a devastating natural disaster in October 2015. Eleven trillion gallons of water flooded our streets, destroyed dams and devastated families. In the flood’s wake we are left with compelling stories of heartbreak, loss, bravery, service, deception, and resilience. This play, based on over thirty interviews, tells these stories so that the audience can reflect on where we’ve been and where we’re going. Please join us on Sunday, October 9, for a reading of And the Flood Goes On to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the SC flood with this community event. A light supper will be served at 5 p.m. with the play reading to follow.

The TRUMC TV team is looking for folks interested in learning TV camera operations, directing and editing. Drop by the TV booth after church to learn more about TRUMC’s TV ministry and how the TV team records the Sunday service, edits and prepares it for rebroadcast on WACH TV 57. Contact Barry Brandes at [email protected], or 803-513-4483.
