A New Community Member’s Reflection
My walk was perfectly timed for me. I needed the energy and love that I felt
throughout the weekend. Not only from my leaders but mostly and more
importantly my fellow pilgrims. I wasn’t sure what to expect going in but found
myself intrigued by every minute of every talk and event. My Jesus moment was
during Friday night. I was praying and sitting next to me was a young man who
literally showed his true heart and emotion which led me to console him. It was
then when I realized why I was there. To help our future generations “get to know
God”. During the weekend I formed such a bond with many people but mainly my
table mates. We had a perfect table, all different ages and backgrounds from a
twenty something to an eighty year old. We had farmers and businessmen, factory
workers to poets. All with the same purpose to find our true path to God. My
relationship with the table of Luke became a special bond which I will cherish the
rest of my life. They held me up when I was down and hopefully I did the same for
them. Spiritually, I found that my job is not done in this world. I am here to work
with Christ, spread his love, his Word and his caring for all who follow. In my
Fourth days I found myself missing the group and wondering what more can be
done. Since my Walk I have decided it was my turn to guide the youth (K-6) of our
congregation - hoping to make a difference in their lives like Emmaus did for me.
Not a day goes by since Walk #71 that I don’t think about how much more I can
do. But I know that there is and I am looking forward to seeing where my Fourth
days take me. To GOD be the Glory.
DeColores,
Kelly Reed
