Noah - Our First Registered Pupil for DBF

Way back in February, I was very pleased to meet

with the parents of this delightful child who now

has celebrity status as our very first DBF

student .

Aged only 2 years 6 months at the time of his

assessment, but clearly displaying readiness for

school, I had no hesitation in accepting Noah to

join FS1 in September.

I recall the excitement in the Admissions Office

as we announced to his parents that their son

was the VIP student who would forever hold the

prestigious title of First DBF Student and

afterwards, how happily my admissions staff and

I talked about how we couldn t have asked for a

more charming first student or nicer parents to

join our school community.

I remember Noah enjoying roleplay in the

assessment room, generously making imaginary cups of tea for myself and his mum and

offering pieces of play food pizza. Preparing to go into the playroom section of our admissions

office, Noah immediately spotted a storybook he knew, which was the delightful story of The

Tiger Who Came To Tea by Judith Kerr. Sharing the book a little later, Noah greatly impressed

me with his ability to read the story himself from memory by referring to the pictures. I could

immediately see how much Noah adores stories and how much he already sees himself as a

competent reader.

As the assessment/playtime continued, there was a lot more that I discovered about this little

boy that assured me that he would benefit greatly from the curriculum we will provide at DBF.

Additionally, I had no doubt whatsoever that all staff would enjoy working and interacting with

him.

Noah s parents have clearly prepared their son brilliantly for starting school.

He already has a love of learning and we are looking forward to nurturing that further in the

months and hopefully years to come.

Since he is such an important little person in the life of our new school, he was invited to meet

with a few of the new staff and to be photographed by our school photographers, Stu

Williamson. He was impeccably behaved throughout his visit. Full of admiration for his parents

who have clearly done such a brilliant job with Noah, all of the new teachers and I thought him

charming. The photographers clearly enjoyed photographing him too.

Although Noah happens to be the first of our registered students, he is only one of numerous

delightful children who have registered to attend DBF.

No wonder the teachers and I can t wait for the school to open, for we are certain of the most

important thing already: that we have lovely children to work with and supportive parents to

build a strong partnership with.

Many thanks to Noah and his parents for giving consent to feature Noah on our school website.
