Christians Gather. It’s what we do,and who we are. We gather togetherbecause we follow a God who gath-ers. The great story line of the Bible,is God acting to overcome the scat-tering of Judgment. It all starts whenGod calls Abraham to leave his homeand his family and go to the land ofCanaan. God’s promise is that he willgreatly bless Abraham and make himinto a great nation.

A promise God keeps as he con-tinues to gather a people to himself.First in the nation of Israel, and inthese last days, in the people who fol-low his Son. The whole reason Jesus

died on the cross that first Good Fri-day two thousand years ago, was tobring us into the family of God. Allof human history is headed towardsa single point, God’s people gatheredtogether with one another, andaround the throne of God. Here iswhat John saw in the book of Reve-lation After this I looked, and therebefore me was a great multitude thatno one could count, from every na-tion, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and beforethe Lamb. They were wearing whiterobes and were holding palmbranches in their hands. And they

cried out in a loud voice: “Salvationbelongs to our God, who sits on thethrone, and to the Lamb.” (Revelation7:8 - 10)

God’s people gather. At St Jameswe realise that gathering at 8 o’clockin the morning can be difficult, espe-cially in winter, and so we havemoved our service times to an hourlater on Sunday mornings. At 9 o’-clock we run a traditional, Holy Com-munion service, followed by a familyservice at 10:30. Please come and joinus, as together we gather to worshipour great and awesome God.

Plans are well advanced for the 109thGuyra Show, which will be held next Fridayand Saturday. February 24th and 25th.

The show committee has worked extremely hard and a lot of hours and workhas gone into organizing a packed programof entertainment and events.

The pavilion is a must visit destination andwill be packed with local produce, includingthe extremely well supported wool section.

The mainstay of the pavilion is always theimpressive display of wool produced in thearea. Despite its small size, entries in thefleece competition in Guyra outnumber eventhose at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.

Outside the pavilion, sheep shearing, yarddog trials and wood chopping all feature overthe two days. There is a full program of ringevents and a family-friendly program of en-tertainment which includes tent-pegging andpost ripping as well as whip cracking demon-strations and the Rampt Mini FMX Bikes.

Guyra Junior Rugby League willreceive $14,630 towards the construction of a detached storagefacility that will assist four localsporting organisations utilising theGuyra Sporting Complex.

The funding is a result of theirsuccessful application to ArmidaleRegional Council’s Stronger Communities Grants. TheStronger Communities Fund is aone-off allocation provided by theState Government to Councils thathave undertaken mergers in NSW.

Armidale Regional Council Ad-ministrator Dr Ian Tiley said thefunding has enabled Council toprovide support to some of themany valuable groups in the com-munity.

“The Guyra Junior RugbyLeague Club is well supported in

the community and in turn collab-orates with and supports otherlocal clubs and organisations,” DrTiley said.

Northern Tablelands MP AdamMarshall has welcomed the grantfunding for a junior sporting club, saying it will help young playerscarry on a proud rugby league tra-dition in Guyra.

“Rugby league in Guyra has beenstrong and today there’s still a hugeinterest for junior players for thissporting code,” Mr Marshall said.

The Guyra Junior Rugby Leagueorganisation has been involvedwith the development of theGuyra Sporting Complex since itsconstruction and has injected itsown funds into the facility over thepast five years. These contributionshave included supporting the erec-

On February 8th, there were increased numbers of lambspenned, this being the first sale re‐ported by the National LivestockReporting Service (NLRS). Lambquality was generally very good andcomprised a good selection of wellfinished trade and heavyweightyoung lambs.

There were large runs of well‐bred lightweight young lambs suit‐able to restockers. The usual buyerswere in attendance along with thereturn of a trade lamb operatorafter an absence of some time.

Competition was strong throughall grades with market trends firmto dearer. Restocker lambs recov‐

ered all of last week’s losses plussome with quality also showing animprovement. The increased num‐bers also attracted extra restockercompetition. The well finishedtrade weight young lambs sold to adearer trend with the extra compe‐tition contributing.

Heavy and extra heavyweightlambs saw a firm market trend withsome weight and quality relatedprice improvements. Grown sheepalso sold on a firm to dearer markettrend. Restockers were active onsound mouth crossbred ewes.Quality and weight were factors insome categories showing lowerprices.

Guyra Rural favours natural P & S fertiliser

BioAg introduced BioAg-Phos S10 into the Australianmarket over 10 years ago tosupply stable phosphorus andsulphur to pastures and cropsthat were located in high rain-fall, leaching environments.

One of the key benefits ofBioAgPhos S10 is that it sup-plies phosphorus and sulphurin sustained release formsthat are resistant to environ-mental effects (like leachingand lock-up).

It is manufactured using acombination of highly reactive,high-grade reactive phos-phate rock (RPR), and a microbial digesting agent developed by BioAg that increases the release of nutri-ent over time.

The sulphur componentconsists of sulphur bentonitepastilles that reduce theamount of sulphur dust andprovide for a sustained conversion from elementalsulphur to plant available sulphate.

BioAgPhos S10 can be applied by both ground rig orby air, and can be applied atannual or biennial (every sec-ond year) rates.

Recent trials at DadswellBridge (Vic) compared BioAgfertilisers against SSP whenapplied at biennial rates(spread every second year).

In 2016 (year 2 of the trial)BioAgPhos S10 outperformedall other fertilisers to producethe most dry matter yield inthat year. When compared to

the control, it produced almosttwice the amount of additionalgrowth as SSP.

BioAgPhos S10 also produced the most dry matter

yield when combining bothyears of the trial

This trial has helped to highlight that the availability ofsulphur and a sustained re-lease form of phosphorus de-livers greater productionacross two years.

BioAgPhos S10 is availablefrom Guyra Rural Services, who have been operating inGuyra for close to 28 years, and are long term BioAg distributors with a long andgrowing list of customers ben-efitting from BioAg productuse.

They supply farmers and retailers with a range of fertilisers, stockfeeds, seedoats, seed potatoes, cottonseed meal, protein supplements and much more.

Guyra Rural stock a rangeof trace elements and soilameliorants, and can custommix blends as needed.

Tingha tug-o-war continuesNegotiations continue between

Armidale Regional and Inverell ShireCouncils over a boundary changethat would see Tingha move betweenthe two council areas.

At its Council Meeting of Febru-ary 8, Armidale Regional Counciladopted a recommendation that itwould not oppose an area of 393square km incorporating the town-ship of Tingha, being removed fromArmidale Regional Council LocalGovernment Area (LGA) and addedto Inverell Shire Council LGA.

Inverell Shire Council, at a specialmeeting also on February 8, declinedto support the Armidale Council’spreferred position. Inverell favour alarger area totalling 823 square km beput under their control.

Council Administrator Dr IanTiley said that Armidale’s decisionwas made after carefully consideringa request by Tingha Citizens Associ-ation Incorporated (TCAI) seekingCouncil’s support of their request tothe Minister for Local Governmentfor Tingha to be absorbed into theInverell Shire LGA.

Armidale Regional Council hadprepared a notional boundary mapfollowing property boundaries, roads, creek lines and other physicaldemarcations which included theTingha Township and a smallamount of land south and east ofTingha and north and west to exist-ing LGA boundaries.

Armidale Regional Councilstrongly opposes any allocation fromthe $5million merger transition fundor the $10 million Stronger Commu-nities / Stronger Regions fund beingmoved to the Inverell Shire Councilin the event of the transfer proceed-ing.

The two councils met with Member for Northern TablelandsAdam Marshall in Guyra on Mondayto further discuss the issue.

Changes agreed to at the meetinginclude a small adjustment that includes Green Valley Farm movinginto the Inverell area.

Inverell has backed down on theirproposal to include the MoredunCreek area after feedback from residents east of Tingha, towardsGuyra, indicated they would preferto remain in the ARC area.

Still in question is land to the southwest of the Tingha village, fromSandy Creek down to GeorgesCreek.

Around 50 residents living in thesmall community will be surveyed ontheir preferred local governmentarea.

Once the survey is sent out, it willbe on exhibition for 28 days. Bothcouncils hope for a swift resolutionin order to give identical recommen-dations to the Minister for LocalGovernment, avoiding a meetingwith the NSW Boundaries Commis-sion.

Year 10 Guyra Central Schoolstudent Carly Harman embarkedon an exciting adventure duringthe recent school holidays for sixmonths.

Carly is participating in aWorld Education Program(WEP) student exchange whichis an opportunity for students toexchange their school, cultureand family in another country. Itis far more rewarding than sim-ply being a tourist, as studentslive like locals and acquire

knowledge not available to thegeneral traveller. It is a once in alifetime opportunity to travel andstudy at an overseas school withthe support of a volunteer hostfamily.

At a glance Carly will be livingwith a local volunteer host fam-ily, attending school as a local, experiencing her host country’scultures and customs first-hand,

Carly has shared a little bitabout her adventure so far andwe look forward to hearing more

as her time progresses. “Departing Australia on 15th Jan-

uary I was excited, I had three flightsahead of me, the first flight was fromSydney to Los Angeles, second flightfrom Los Angles to Minneapolis andthe third and final flight was fromMinneapolis to Dayton, Ohio.

Upon my arrival at the largest cityin Greene County, Beavercreek, Ohio,United States, I was still very excitedbut also a little nervous.

My host family is a family of five.My host father works in the military,

host mother is a stay at home mumwith two preschool aged children oneboy & one girl, my host fathers motheralso lives with us making 5. Currently the daytime temperature isaround seven degrees and night timeminus it is quiet cold and limitswhat/where we can go at the moment. On the weekends we do go to churchand play outside the house. I am look-ing forward to the weather warming upand being able to see some more of thearea. “
