Brown Version - Sewing Instructions1. Sew (1) 3” x 23 ½” Fabric B strip to each side of the 20 ½” x 23 ½” Fabric A panel. Sew (1) 3” x 25 ½” Fabric B strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric A panel. Trim the block to measure 24 ½” x 27 ½” to make the Center Block (Fig. 1).

2. Place 3 ⅛” Fabric F square on top of (1) 3 ⅛” Fabric G square, right sides together. Draw a line across the diagonal of the top square (Fig. 2). Sew ¼” away from each side of the drawn diagonal line (Fig. 2). Cut the two squares apart on the drawn diagonal line (Fig. 3) to make (2) FG units (Fig. 4). Trim the FG units to measure 2 ¾” square. Repeat to make (16) FG units total.

3. Sew (4) FG units together to make (1) Unit 1 (Fig. 5). Repeat to make (4) Unit 1’s total.

4. Place (1) 1 ¼” Fabric B square on the left side of (1) 1 ¼” x 2” Fabric F strip, right sides together (Fig. 6). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 6). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 7). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼” seam allowance.

5. Place another 1 ¼” Fabric B square on the right side of the 1 ¼” x 2” Fabric F strip, right sides together (Fig. 8). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper left corner to the lower right corner (Fig. 8). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 9). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼” seam allowance to make (1) Unit 2.

6. Repeat Steps 4-5 to make (16) Unit 2’s total.

14. Cut the JHJ strip set into (8) 2 ¾” x 5” Unit 4’s (Fig. 16).

Brown Version - Quilt Top Assembly (Refer to Figure 20 while assembling.)18. Sew (1) 2 ¾” x 27 ½” Fabric E strip, (1) 2 ¾” x 27 ½” Fabric D strip and (1) 2 ¾” x 27 ½” Fabric C strip together lengthwise and in that order to make (1) Side Strip. Repeat to make a second Side strip.

19. Sew (1) 2 ¾” x 24 ½” Fabric E strip, (1) 2 ¾” x 24 ½” Fabric D strip and (1) 2 ¾” x 24 ½” Fabric C strip together lengthwise and in that order to make (1) Top/Bottom Strip. Repeat to make a second Top/Bottom Strip.

20. Sew (1) Side Strip to each side of the Center Block.

21. Sew (1) Block One to each end of (1) Top/Bottom Strip. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew the strips to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block.

23. Sew (23) Unit 5’s together lengthwise and alternating their direction to make (1) Side Border. Repeat to make a second Side Border. Sews (1) border to each side of the Center Block.

24. Sew (25) Unit 5’s together lengthwise and alternating their direction to make (1) Top/Bottom Border. Repeat to make a second Top/Bottom Border. Sew the borders to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block.

25. Sew (1) 3” x 54 ½” Fabric K strip to each side of the Center Block. Sew (1) 3” x 55 ½” Fabric K strip to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block to make the quilt top.

26. Layer and quilt as desired.

27. Sew the (6) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric H strips together, end to end with 45-degree seams, to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and press.

28. Bind as desired.
