Trade Show
The Chamber organized another 2-day Trade Show this December to highlight the presence of French companies in Bangladesh and the Bangladeshi agents/distributors representing French companies. The inaugural was done by the Honorable State Minister, Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Mr. Nasrul Hamid, M.P. and the Chamber Patron, H.E. Mrs. Sophie Aubert. There was a total of 16 companies including Paragon Group, Lafarge Surma Cement Ltd, ACI Agribusinesses, 3S Impex Bangladesh (Royal Canin), Energypac Electronics Ltd, Bolloré Logistics, Maer Achol, Schneider Electric, Bureau Veritas Consumer, FB Technology, Europcar, Best in Brands, aamra resources Ltd, TSI, Totalgaz Bangladesh and Packard Engineering.
Gala evening The gala evening was held just after the Trade Show on 10th December. The evening was animated with a fashion show choreographed by Bibi Russell followed by a classical dance program from the Pallavi Dance Center by Minu Haque. Both shows were very much appreciated thanks to the very talented designers, models and dancers. All our performers were wearing make-up from Farzana Shakil and outfit from new designers: Ruhsan Rahman (Altius Moda), Hanif Kaiser (Ethical grace by Haneef), Nashra Sakhawat (Source) and one line from the famous Bibi Russell. The guests enjoyed French dinner with live musical performance by band Rongdhonu. It was again a very successful evening managed by Dr. Rifat Rashid. The sponsors of the event were Aamra (Platinum), Suez (Silver), and Bronze sponsors areCorona Lafarge Surma Cement Ltd, Paragon, Totalgaz, Maf Shoes Ltd. Bolloré. The Annual General Meeting 2016 The Annual General Meeting was held on 2nd April 2017 at Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden hotel in Dhaka Cantonment. The meeting was conducted by the President, Mr. M. Maksud and Dr. Rifat Rashid Director of the Chamber presented the Annual report. The Treasurer, Mr. Md. Shafquat Matin announced the treasury position which is positive due to the income generated from the annual gala with the highest sponsorship raised this year in Chamber history. The Economic counselor of the French embassy, Mr. Franҫois Petit informed the members about a coming delegation happening on June 6th, 7th and 8th 2017. The Chamber will arrange B2B meetings with local companies for the French companies. To conclude the AGM meeting, H.E. Mrs. Sophie Aubert praised the involvement of Dr. Rashid who dedicated 20 years of hard work and honesty toward the Chamber and members. She is grateful to the Director for the contribution to make the Chamber a successful place and wishes the bonding between France and Bangladesh remains the same.

CCIFB Trade Directory The new Directory of the Chamber covering year 2016-2018 has been published on the occasion of the French Trade Show. The CCIFB counts today 161 members with both Bangladeshi and French companies. Trade Show Brochure Also a brochure was published to highlight all those companies which were participating in the trade show with a company profile and details of its representative. All the partners and artists also had their profile.
Business Luncheon / Launching of the Website
A business lunch was held on 29th September 2016 at the Westin hotel. The Honorable guest speaker of this get together was no other than the Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), Mr. Kazi M. Aminul Islam. Were present during this lunch the patron of the Chamber H.E. Mrs. Sophie Aubert (Ambassador of France to Bangladesh), Mr. Francois Petit (Economic & Commercial Councilor), Mr. M. Maksud (CCIFB Chamber) and Mr. Syed Mahmudul Huq (CCIFB policy advocacy).
Be-Bound Be-Bound (www.be-bound.com) is the first global solution which allows any Android users to stay connected on any mobile networks from 4G to 2G including Wi-Fi with or without Internet. It enables and extends connectivity at low cost using deployed infrastructures (no CEPEX). Be-Bound is already working in a project with Government ICT Ministry and also with a private company MCC. In February Be-Bound was in Dhaka to extend their network in the country. The CCIFB has organized some B2B meetings with different companies (Grameen phone, bKash, Robi, Aamra, Banglalink) and the government body (the ICT Division, Teletalk). Their next step would be to have a press conference after establishing some business in Bangladesh. For now they need to connect with an MNO (Robi and/or Grameen Phone) and add more Be-Bound compatible apps for the Bangladeshi market (adapted by MCC).
Foire de Paris The Foire De Paris is a major retail event that is annually held in Paris for more than 100 years now. Foire De Paris is the largest general-purpose fair in Europe in different fields such as shopping, Gastronomy, home. After 3 years, the CCIFB is participating again to represent the Bangladesh Pavilion among with the SMEs. Fifteen companies are exhibiting their products made of jute, cotton, silk, wood/ bamboo, leather, recycle paper, jewelry (pearls, silver, gold). Participating at the Foire de Paris would be considered as an achievement for the Chamber as our aim is to facilitate trade between both countries. This is an opportunity for the Bangladeshi participants to extend their business and share with the world the Bangladeshi assets.
