Editor’s Note
Hi guys,
The PALME show has ended with a burst of excitement or should i say ash. The news was quite unfortunate but nothing could be done. However last month was a good one as NMK had its own private event to say thank you to all its clients throughout the year. I hope everyone enjoyed their time at emirates towers. I’ll see you all on our next event!

NMK recently had a private event at the Godolphin Ballroom which was intended for all our frequent customers and clients. It was our way of saying thank you and showasing some new products within the year. Mr. Freddy Sicko (SHURE) also visited us from Germany to give a breif insight on the company and the new products coming out.
There was a wonderful buffet and open bar which I’m sure everyone en-joyed and the night ended with a great performance by Sol electic which were the same group that played during the Timeout Nightlife Awards.

PALME 2010 was quite different this year with a major disruption from a volcano that nobody can even pronounce. However we saw alot of people coming from nearby countires such as Bahrain, Qatar and Oman. It was also a good place to meet up with old and existing customers. We displayed some new products such as the RANE Sixty Eight as well as the polytune from TC Electronics. We were also quite fortunate to get a booth near a performance area with girls dancing which allowed us to get some traffic on our booth. There was also the cafeteria nearby so people were passing by to check out our booth. Overall the exhibition was alright and nothing much can be done about the ash so we hope to see you next year.

Drama Productions have purchased the Sound Devices 302. They will be using it for several audio and video projects in their studio which is based in Sharjah.

NMK @ Shelter Breakdance Work-shops
DJ Lobito continues to support NMK @ the shelter as he does breakdance workshops while he spins the records for the b-boys. I hope that there will be more events like this on Fridays where people can come and chill out with-out worrying about time or a schedule. Hopefully NMK will also be doing an event soon for DJs but this is still in the pipeline. As usual I will update you guys but please let me know if you would like to see more DJ stuff in the e-mag or any events with regards to DJing as that would be great feedback for what NMK would like to do for the scene.

DJs from 20years ago wouldn’t have believed you if you had told them that in the future, DJs show up to venues with portable computers and controllers. The media DJs play today may vary from what it once was, and the gear may have advanced over the years, yet the turntable still remains as a necessity for many. Why? Because the turntable remains as the only interface that allows DJs to play and control music with the simplest, but diverse maneuver. The amount of data analog turntables and vi-nyl feed to the DJ is massive and far more complicated than it is considered. The vibra-tion to the finger tips, width an feel of the ditches is a few and it’s impossible to digitally simulate such factors. Vestax knows the importance of the turntable, and continues to produce quality interfaces, which will connect the DJs sensibility with music.
■Direct Drive DC Motor UPGRATED! The PDX-3000mk2’s direct drive DC motor has powerful torque of maximum 4.7CN/cm, and reaches a constant speed rate within 0.5 seconds from pushing the start/stop button. An extremely precise regulator is re-quired to accurately control such a motor, and with the PDX-3000 it is digitally (32bit CPU) controlled with a digital servo. This servo keeps the motor rotating no matter how heavily the pitch is changed, reverse button is pushed or the platter is pulled back. ■New high-precision platter UPGRATED!
With an advanced digital servo in combination, Vestax has cast a new mold to optimize the balance between the platter weight and rotary inertia moment. This en-ables the DJ to perform with higher stability and accuracy. Having the surface been lowered, DJs have more control over vinyl, along with carefully designed sides for pre-cise pitch adjustment. ■ Digital Torque Simulator The digital servo firmware is the brain of the control circuitry. Reverb 6000 and Mastering 6000 offers the same core struc-ture, features and hardware configurations, and therefore the following is valid for both products.
The heart of Reverb 6000 and Mastering 6000 is the Mainframe 6000 housing all pro-cessing, physical input/output and connections for external control. The main control surface is the TC Icon remote-head and CPU, which easily connect via Ethernet to the Mainframe. The TC Icon remote are also available as software editors for both Mac and PC. Multiple Mainframes and TC Icons/Editors can be integrated into a network.
Mainframe 6000 houses an extremely sophisticated and flexible processor structure, utilizing the leading DSP architecture.
One mainframe hosts up to four audio processors, referred to as “Engines”. Each En-gine can be loaded with any of the processing algorithms available in the Library banks.
All four processors have equal DSP-power and are supported with a large amount of external RAM. Therefore any Engine can be loaded with a variety of different algo-rithms from Reverbs and effects to Dynamics and EQ.
All four Engines handle up to 8 input and 8 output channels each, depending on the loaded algorithm type. This enables to create a wealth of configurations: e.g. four stereo-reverbs; or two stereo-reverbs and a 5.1 reverb; or have a full 5.1 mastering setup with EQ, dynamics and format-conversion in one mainframe – the number of combinations are endless.MKII Upgrade ProgramOwners of the original System 6000 will have the opportunity to upgrade their System 6000 frame to full MKII specifications.

Tim Hassell came by the showroom to collect his prize which is the new PG42 mic from SHURE. This was the prize for the Dubai Timeout Night Awards which happened recently.
