Our History

The number of people using Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) has grown enormously. The Neuro Linguistic Psychotherapy and Counselling Association (NLPtCA) grew out of a desire amongst people using NLP in a purely therapeutic setting to focus on the field of therapy specifically.

The Neuro Linguistic Psychotherapy and Counselling Association was formed as a 'free standing, not for profit organisation' in July 2002. Previously from 1992, there had been a group called the 'Psychotherapy and Counselling Section' within the Association for Neuro Linguistic Programming (ANLP). This change meant that Neuro Linguistic Psychotherapists and Psychotherapeutic Counsellors have their own identity within the field of psychotherapy. Since 2002 we have had our own robust processes for meeting the stringent criteria for being entered onto the United Kingdom Council Psychotherapy (UKCP) register of psychotherapists.

What the NLPtCA Offers

The Neuro Linguistic Psychotherapy and Counselling Association is the professional organisation in the United Kingdom that provideshelp and support to psychotherapists and counsellors whose therapeutic work has developed from NLP.The NLPtCA is an accrediting organisational member of the UKCP. As a member, it provides the only pathway to professional registration as a Neuro Linguistic Psychotherapist. The NLPtCA also offers guidance and direction with training and development from NLP practitioner level through to Accredited Neuro Linguistic Psychotherapist.
