The Importance of Landscape

We feel that you cannot underestimate the importance of good landscape design, it can mean the difference between somewhere people pass through or somewhere that changes the way people feel and makes you want to stay for a while. It can offer an alternative to the ‘standard’ solution in anything from planting schemes and installation of street furniture to more complex multi-disciplinary schemes, including public realm and housing. Landscape design can enhance existing schemes and add value to proposals that set one space or place apart from the rest – something to consider in today's climate when attracting visitors to town centres and even public parks is essential to their survival.

We understand the importance of being realistic when it comes to project development, but this does not mean standard design solutions. We aim for high quality, realistic, site specific, creative solutions to all our projects, having access to specialist advice from highways, engineers, arborists and planners when required. We can also offer services as a lead professional where there are issues with conflicts of interest.

As Landscape Architects we work to the Landscape Institutes Code or Conduct and are committed to providing a professional and personal service. Please contact Becky Allen for an information discussion if you think we can help.

We have an extensive knowledge of the planning system which includes applications as well as the impact of trees on development, Tree Preservation Orders and Conservation Areas.

Even if we have not been involved in the design, we can project manage your scheme for you, which may include planting, landscape features or artwork. We can also write a management plan to ensure its’ long term effectiveness.

We feel it is important that the end users are involved and manyprojects have been designed with the community and local schoolsfor a more sustainable approach to creating the space. We have also successfully applied for and delivered grant applications which include Heritage Lottery Fund, Forestry Commission, Landfill Communities Fund, Awards for All and Football Foundation, where we can add value to existing or developing projects.

We know that the successful implementation of projects relies heavily on effective contract management, (for which we use JCLI, JCT and ICE documentation), tendering to relevant regulations and adhering to budgetary restrictions.
