Optimism over US-China deal and hopes of a swift Brexit after thumping election win by Britain's Conservative Party boosted sentiment. Both, Sensex and Nifty ended above their psychological 41,000-mark and 12,000-mark, respectively. In the week ended on Friday, 13 December 2019, the Sensex rose 564.56 points or 1.40% to settle at 41,009.71. The Nifty 50 index advanced 165.20 points or 1.39% to settle at 12,086.70. The BSE Mid-Cap index gained 163.30 or 1.11% to settle at 14,830.40. The BSE Small-Cap index shed 6.69 points or 0.05% to settle at 13,332.66. On the economic front, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) unexpectedly left interest rates unchanged on Thursday, 5 December 2019. The move was driven by the rising inflationary pressure and gradual improvement in monetary transmission. RBI revised GDP growth downwards to 5% for 2019-20 from 6.1% projected in its October policy. The CPI inflation projection has also been revised upwards to 4.7-5.1% for the second half of FY20 and 3.8-4% for the first half of FY21. Asian Development Bank (ADB) lowered India's growth forecast on Wednesday, 11 December 2019. India's growth is now seen at a slower 5.1% in fiscal year 2019 as the foundering of a major non-banking financial company in 2018 led to a rise in risk aversion in the financial sector and a credit crunch. Also, consumption was affected by slow job growth and rural distress aggravated by a poor harvest. Growth should pick up to 6.5% in fiscal year 2020 with supportive policies. In September, ADB forecast India's GDP to grow 6.5% in 2019 and 7.2% in 2020. Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) data released on Wednesday, 11 December 2019, domestic passenger vehicle sales fell by 0.84% to 2.63 lakh units in November 2019 from 2.66 lakh units in November 2018. Domestic car sales were down 10.83% to 1.60 lakh units as against 1.79 lakh units in November 2018. Motorcycle sales last month declined 14.87% to 8.93 lakh units as against 10.49 lakh units a year earlier. Total two-wheeler sales in November declined 14.27% to 14.10 lakh units compared to 16.45 lakh units in the year-ago month. Sales of commercial vehicles were down 14.98% to 61,907 units in November 2019 over November 2018. Vehicle sales across categories registered a decline of 12.05% to 17.92 lakh units from 20.38 lakh units in November 2018, it added. Industrial output in India dropped 4.3% year-on-year in September of 2019, following an upwardly revised 1.4% decline in August. India's industrial production (IIP) data for October 2019 was announced on Thursday, 12 December 2019. The Manufacturing production data for October 2019 was announced on Thursday, 12 December 2019. Manufacturing Production in the country decreased 3.90% in September of 2019 over the same month in the previous year. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for November 2019 was also announced on Thursday, 12 December 2019. India's retail price inflation rate climbed to 4.62% year-on-year in October 2019, the highest in over a year, from the previous month's 3.99%. During the last week Nifty has made a low of 11832 and given a bounce up to 12099 and closed above 20 DEMA of 11960. Its immediate support is likely to be seen around 12020 to 11950. If trades or closed below 11950 next support around 11850 for next week. Its resistance is likely to be seen around 12150 and 12230 for next week. During the last week Bank Nifty has made a low of 30996 and given a bounce up to 32105 and closed above 20 DEMA of 31395. Its immediate support is likely to be seen around 31600 to 31400. India's WPI inflation rose 0.16% year-on-year in October 2019, slowing from a 0.33% gain in the previous month. It was the lowest wholesale inflation rate since a decline in June 2016, as cost of both fuel and manufacturing continued to fall. India's retail inflation jumped to a 40- month high in November on higher food prices, while industrial output contracted in October from a year earlier, data showed on Thursday, 12 December 2019. India's IIP declined for third straight month at 3.8% in October 2019, in addition to 4.3% dip in September 2019 and 1.4% decline in August 2019. The numbers were better than expected given that in October there are several holidays when factories were shut. The manufacturing sector output declined 2.1%, while electricity generation plunged 12.2% in October 2019 contributing to the overall decline in industrial production. Further, the mining sector production plunged 8.0% in October 2019. The all-India general CPI-based retail inflation jumped to 5.54% in November 2019, compared with 4.62% in October 2019. The higher inflation was driven by transitory factors such as increase in food inflation while core inflation continued to remain subdued, reflecting the tepid demand in the economy. The core CPI inflation rose marginally to 3.50% in November 2019 compared with 3.44% in October 2019. Macroeconomic data to influence market direction Global cues, macroeconomic data, movement of rupee against the dollar, Brent crude oil price movement and investments by foreign portfolio investors (FPI) and domestic institutional investors (DII) will be watched in the week ahead. On the macro front, the WPI Inflation (YoY) for November 2019 will be unveiled on Monday, 16 December 2019. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will on Thursday, 19 December 2019 announce the minutes of its monetary policy review meeting held on 5 December 2019. Overseas, China's industrial production data for November 2019 will be unveiled on Monday, 16 December 2019. The Bank of Japan (BoJ) will announce its interest rate decision on Thursday, 19 December 2019. The U.S. GDP Growth Rate QoQ final estimate Q3 will be announced on Friday, 20 December 2019. The US Markit Manufacturing PMI for December 2019 will be announced on Monday, 16 December 2019. The Week That Was

Nifty regains 12,000

Indian stocks ended with major gains during the week on positive global

cues. Optimism over US-China deal and hopes of a swift Brexit after

thumping election win by Britain's Conservative Party boosted sentiment.

Both, Sensex and Nifty ended above their psychological 41,000-mark and

12,000-mark, respectively. In the week ended on Friday, 13 December

2019, the Sensex rose 564.56 points or 1.40% to settle at 41,009.71. The

Nifty 50 index advanced 165.20 points or 1.39% to settle at 12,086.70.

The BSE Mid-Cap index gained 163.30 or 1.11% to settle at 14,830.40. The

BSE Small-Cap index shed 6.69 points or 0.05% to settle at 13,332.66. On

the economic front, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) unexpectedly left

interest rates unchanged on Thursday, 5 December 2019. The move was

driven by the rising inflationary pressure and gradual improvement in
