    Department of Management Studies (DMS)came into existence recently within theational Institute of Technology umbrella and

    aims to impart quality management andtechnical education. The courses offered from amix drawn from a well developed body ofknowledge coming from a diverse background.Jt aims at developing the analytical skills,functional skills, operational skills, leadershipqualities as well as ethical and moral valueswithin the students. The department boasts offaculties from diverse backgrounds and it takesin students with regional diversity and variededucational qualifications. Semester 1& 1I focusmainly on the different concepts of generalmanagement education to give the students agood grounding in all the functional areas ofmanagement study. Semester ill& IV providean in-depth knowledge on various peeializatiensubjects. There are a number of industry orientedsubjects in the electives offered. The departmentgrooms its students into industry ready proactivefuture managers.

    Dr AvijanDuttaDr Avijanlrutta is presently is a faculty member in the Department of Managementstudies, Nationallnstitute of Technology.Durgapur India. He has obtained his PostGraduation in Management from llM- Aherndabad and received hi PhD degreefrom Jadavpur University.

    ~----__. He has published several articles in leading Journals. He was awarded with theSilver Medal for Best Research Paper at the Association of Indian ManagementSchools convention held at Hyderabad 2005. He ha also the distinction of ecuring 2nd place for Best

    Dr.GautamBandyopadhyayDr.Bandyopadhyay is presently working as an Associate Professor in theDepartment of Management Studies, National Institute of Technology Durgapur,He has an enviable exposure towards teaching and research activities. He has donehis Ph.D. from the Department of Mathematics of the Jadavpur University.Dr.Bandyopadhyay is also a fellow member of the Institute of Cost & Works

    Dr. Neelotpaul Banerjee(Gold Medallist), Ph.D, Assistant Professor, Dept of Management Studies,

    National Institute of Technology, DurgapurDr.Banerjee secured the first position in the University in the MBA examination forwhich he received a gold medal from the University. He has also secured the secondposition in the University in the B.Sc examination. Dr.Banerjee's research papers

    a) Students shall conduct themselves within and outside the campus of the institute in a mannerbefitting the students of an Insti tu te of national importance.

    b) As per order of the Hon'ble Supreme COUItofIndia, ragging in any form is banned. Acts of raggingwill be considered as gross indi cipline and will be severely dealt with.Rules'Regarding

    Following rules hall be enforced to govern theconduct and discipline of all students:1. Student's shall show due respect to the

    Teachers of the institute, the Wardens of theHalls of Residence the Sport Official of theAthletics and the Officers of the at ionalCadet Corps; proper courtesy andconsideration should be extended to theemployees of the Institute and of the Hallsof Residence. They shall also pay dueattention and courte y to the visitors.

    2. Students are required to develop a friendlyrelationship with fellow students.
