OFFICIAL OLYMPIC FLEET – More than 4,200 vehicles are shuttling athletes and
officials around Rio de Janeiro, to and from venues and other sites. Among these is the Nissan
Kicks, the official car of the Rio 2016 Games, which escorted the Olympic torch for more than
three months across Brazil to the Maracanã Stadium on August 5. Kicks is the first Nissan vehicle
inspired by millennials in Latin America and is available first in the region before arriving in more
than 80 countries around the world. Nissan LEAF vehicles will also transport medal winners from
venues to Casa Brasil. Get a behind-the-scenes look at the Olympic Fleet operation and what it
takes to keep it running 24 hours a day for thousands of athletes and officials.
TEAM NISSAN – In 2012, Team Nissan was formed to contribute to the development
of 31 Brazilian athletes – 24 of whom have qualified for the Games; 15 in the Olympics and 9 in
the Paralympics. The athletes have been mentored and participated in workshops about sports
training, financial management and good sportsmanship. Nissan also supports every Brazilian
athlete who has qualified for the Olympic Games, by sponsoring Team Brazil. Athletes will be
joining us at our activation sites. Please let us know if you are interested in sports commentary or
scheduling an interview. We will provide a daily calendar of athlete availability.
OLYMPIC LIVE SITES – Nissan is hosting entertainment attractions at two venues
in the heart of Rio’s celebration of the Olympics. At the “Nissan Kicks House,” located at the
Olympic Park live site in Barra de Tijuca, the public can join interactive experiences, take a
hometown picture with the Olympic Torch, play games related to Kicks technologies and see the
new concept car Nissan BladeGlider. Watch vehicles “celebrate” in an interactive performance
when Brazil or Japan athletes win medals. At the Olympic Boulevard, in downtown Rio, the
challenge will be facing a 40-meter-high bungee jump. Put your GoPro cam on and jump. Sites
available for media location filmings, by appointment.
