Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA) is the only non-profit organization dedicated to serving the financial professional in the construction industry. Established in 1981, CFMA now boasts over 7,000 members and 87 chapters in major cities across the United States. CFMA is the communications leader and premier source of education and information about those aspects of financial management unique to the construction industry.

CFMA meets the needs of a broad spectrum of financial managers: CFOs, treasurers, controllers, and accountants. CFMA’s General Membership represents all types of contractors, including generals and subcontractors as well as developers, construction managers, architects, engineers, principals and material and equipment suppliers.

ABOUT CFMA

JAKE APPLEMAN, FMI Corporation. Jake is a consultant with FMI, management

consultants and investment bankers for the construction industry. As a member of the

Leadership and Organizational Development Group, Jake is committed to partnering with

architecture, engineering and construction organizations to develop exceptional leadership.

In his role as Director of FMI’s Executive Coaching practice, Jake works one-on-one with

senior leaders to help them achieve their personal and organizational goals. He also works

with organizations in implementing cultural and strategic change. Jake’s areas of expertise

include training, strategic human resource management, instructional design and statistical

analysis. He brings consulting experience from small start-up organizations, government

organizations, and Fortune 500 companies.

Jake holds a Master of Arts degree in industrial/organizational psychology from the University

of Colorado, a degree focused on maximizing the impact of individuals and organizations. He

is an alumnus of Montana State University, where he graduated with a bachelor of science

degree in applied psychology.

JODY WRIGHT, Senior Vice President Construction Department Manager; Lockton Companies, LLC. As Senior Vice President/Construction Department Manager, Jody is

responsible for risk management consulting, insurance brokering, and service for Lockton’s

clients involved in construction, architecture and engineering, and real estate development.

He is a resource for all Lockton clients and has direct responsibility to provide service to a

group of major accounts. Jody also assists with insurance carrier relationship management,

associate education and development, and quality assurance.

Jody has managed risk on projects ranging from high rise office and residential buildings,

major infrastructure projects, single family homes, pipeline, hospital, student/military hous-

ing, hospitality, resort and multi-family construction, and light rail and transportation.

JOHN ARMOUR, CPA CCIFP; CBIZ MHM, LLC (formerly Brockmann, Armour, & Co. LLC). Mr. Armour has served construction clients since 1970 and is a frequent speaker

to construction trade associations. John is the West Region Director of Construction Services

for CBIZ and is a shareholder in Mayer Hoffman McCann PC, an independent CPA firm. John

is a member of the Board of Advisors and contributor to the Journal of Construction Account-

ing and Taxation. John also serves on the Tax and Fiscal Affairs Committee of the Associated

General Contractors of America, and is a founding member of the Construction Financial

Management Association, Colorado Chapter.

CAROLYN DUFFY, CPA, Director of Business Advisory Services; Hein & Associates . Carolyn has over 26 years of tax, audit, and consulting experience, and serves as Director of

Business Advisory Services in the Denver office of Hein & Associates. Carolyn leads the SOX

404 and IT service lines and was instrumental in designing and implementing the associated

methodologies. She specializes in assisting clients of all sizes with process re-engineering,

IT management, software assessment, and implementation management, including IT

integration in support of mergers and acquisitions and IT review in relation to due diligence

services. Carolyn also has extensive experience with managing Section 404 of Sarbanes-Oxley

(SOX 404) consulting projects for both financial and IT controls as well as SAS70 Type II and

SysTrust projects.

Carolyn is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA),

Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), Construction Financial Managers Association (CFMA),

the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants (COCPA), Association of General

Contractors (AGC), and the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA). She

received her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics form Marquette University, and her Masters of

Science in Accounting from the University of Colorado.

JON ROBINSON, CEO & Chief Lending Officer; UMB Bank Colorado. Jon Robinson

is CEO for UMB Bank Colorado. Mr. Robinson joined UMB Bank Colorado in 1981 and is

responsible for developing overall strategic direction and ensuring execution of the com-

pany’s key strategies and plans. During his 30 year career in banking, he has worked in both

operations and commercial lending. Prior to his current position, he was President of UMB

Bank Colorado.

Mr. Robinson is an active member in the Denver community. He currently serves as chair-

man of the board for the Metropolitan State College Foundation, board member of Denver

Health Medical Plan, Inc., board member of the Metro Denver Economic Development Corp.,

board member of the Downtown Denver Partnership Inc, and a board member for Junior

Achievement.

A resident of Colorado for more than 30 years, Mr. Robinson earned a Bachelor of Science

degree in accounting from Metropolitan State College where he continues to be an active

alumnus.

JOHN MASTRO, Senior Vice President in the Commercial Loan Department; UMB Bank Colorado. John graduated from the University of Denver in 1999 and began his career

with UMB as a Credit Analyst in January 2000. In January 2002, John was promoted to a com-

mercial lending position. His background includes financial analysis/underwriting; commer-

cial and small business lending; construction and real estate lending and floor plan lending.

For the last ten years, John has been active with Junior Achievement in coordinating UMB’s

participation in the JA Bowl-A-Thon. In 2008, he joined Denver Active 20/30, a local non-

profit group of approximately 80 men that raise money for under privileged kids located in

Colorado. Since joining, he has remained one of the organization’s top 5 fund raisers. In

2009, he was elected to co-chair the non-profit’s annual Christmas for Kids event which

was one of the most successful of its kind in its 27+ year history. Since 2008, he has been

appointed to the charity review committee, a group of 6 individuals, which make the final rec-

ommendations on the distributions of funds. In 2010 and again in 2011, John was appointed

to chair the auction committee for the Schomp BMW Polo Classic – the non profits largest

annual fundraiser. In March 2011, John was named by the Denver Business Journal to the

2011 Class of “40 Under 40.”

MIKE MOLARO, CFMA Director, Chapter Services. Mike is CFMA Director, Chapter

Services, and staff co-chair of the Chapter Resource Committee and its seven subcommittees:

Chapter Ambassador Program, Chapter Formation, Chapter Operations Manual, Chapter

Recognition Program, Chapter Summit, Life Cycle and Mentoring, and Satellite Chapters. He

is also staff co-chair of the Leadership Development Committee.

Among his responsibilities are CFMA at Spring Creek—The Annual Retreat for Incoming

Chapter Presidents; the multi-media Chapter Recognition Program Awards Breakfast held dur-

ing the Annual Conference & Exhibition; the Chapter Leadership and Operations Handbook,

updated annually on the CFMA Web site; “Chap Chats,” a bi-monthly newsletter electronically

sent to chapter leaders; the annual Chapter Summit held in conjunction with CFMA’s Annual

Conference & Exhibition; the formation of new CFMA chapters and satellite chapters of existing

CFMA chapters; and CFMA’s National Mentoring Program.

Mike received a BA in Communications from the William Paterson College of New Jersey in

May 1979.
