To realize mission-critical projects successfully, you need an optimal collaboration of de-velopers, managers, customers, and other stakeholders. But due to the pressure of time-to-market this becomes more and more difficult. One key role is somebody,

who speaks and understand the language of developers, who understands and transfers interests of managers, who introduces and filters requirements of customers, who is able to prepare and make the right strategic decisions, andwho has the courage, to force pragmatism and excellence.

I have taken this role in different forms in several mission-critical and successful IT projects. These projects were large in each sense (hundreds of developers, millions of lines of code, Gigabytes of data, thousands of end-users, ...).

My role was named technical project manager or system architect. However, sometime I just understand myself as being a communication manager with excellent social and IT back-ground so that teams are forced to focus on working software (slides, concepts, and proto-types may not prove anything).

Currently, the focus is on SOA (service oriented architecture), where I am one of the few world-wide experts having significant experience of implementing SOA in practice (being a team lead of a SOA system with hundreds of services in production producing millions of ser-vice calls a day).

Use my competence and experience, to find and validate the technology, architecture, and processes that is appropriate in your concrete context. Use my courage and social capabil-ities to force to make the right decisions and to detect problems and risks before they lead to disaster.

My advantage is independence. I have no products to sell and no people to place. I have worked for domains such as Banking/Finance, Automobile/Traffic, Telecommunications, and Manufacturing as technical leader, manager, or reviewer.
