Sunday, November 1, 2009 marked the first professional tryout for Nick Schrank with the Richmond Revolution and the cross-city rival Richmond Raiders. Along with 4 of his Summer League teammates from the VA Crimson Cardinals, the workouts consisted of position specific drills, the 40-yard dash, vertical jump, 225 bench-press max and the broad jump. After a strenuous 2-hour session with the Richmond Revolution, the Revolution coaching staff expressed a heavy interest in all the players sent by Manager Collin White from the VA Crimson Cardinal team. Hopes for a contract offering and an invited roster spot for the 2010 spring season are what Nick Schrank is praying for. "It was definitely a very good experience for me to be able to grow and learn about the workings of professional football," stated Schrank. Nick Schrank was able to talk closely with the Head Coach of the Revolution, Steve Criswell, and hand him his media kit of previous game and workout film. The next few weeks will definitely be stressful for the young athlete as he awaits the incoming phone calls.

First Professional Tryouts Show Promise of Contracts

Vertical and broad jumps Players jump straight up or straight forward without using a first step for momentum. These jumps accurately display a prospect's explosiveness, which is relevant not only for receivers and defensive backs for jump balls, but also by offensive and defensive linemen to move or gain leverage against their opponents. 20-yard shuttle In the "short shuttle," players straddle a yard line, run five yards in one direction, then 10 yards in the other direction, then five yards back to their original starting position. They must touch the ground at each stop except the last.

Combine Drills

40-yard dash The most famous and the most publicized of these drills, the 40-yard dash shows sustained speed over a distance. However, the "40" might be even more important for some positions when looking at the 10-yard and 20-yard splits. The splits are good indicators of a quick first step, something every coach wants to see in all his players. Bench press Bench press repetitions of 225 are the standard. This is more than just an exercise for the biggest and strongest linemen. Most all players need upper body strength to excel. Even those at the "finesse" positions, such as wide receiver, use their arms and shoulders to release from, or shield, their opponents.

NICKSCHRANK.COM Introduced To Michael Vick by NICKSCHRANK.COM

LYNCHBURG, VA - Monday, December 7, 2009 NICKSCHRANK.COM and Fresh Printz Clothing collaborated with Restaurant Seven owners for their Grand Opening Gala that hosted close friends Michael Vick and Andre Kendrick in downtown Lynchburg Monday night. The event featured a night of buffet-style food, drinks and the appearance of Michael Vick who later signed autographs for fans that previously purchased exclusive tickets for Opening Night. Spending the night in VIP, Nick Schrank and fellow teammate JeRome Mann, were able to talk with Michael Vick briefly. "It was just a hi...goodbye...and here's a NICKSCHRANK.COM shirt for ya! But I really enjoyed getting to meet him and I hope somewhere down the road I'll get to do it again," said Nick. There in VIP, Nick, with the help of Manager Collin White, was able to establish some valuable connections with football as well as lock up future collaborations with Restaurant Seven’s owners on designs for Michael Vick’s anticipated appearances in the spring to Restaurant Seven. The Grand Opening of Restaurant Seven proved to be a very valuable experience for Nick Schrank as he was able to mix and mingle with the National Football League’s finest. Andre Kendrick, Virginia Tech running back and standout in the 2000 Sugar Bowl versus Florida State as well as close friend to Michael Vick, sported a NICKSCHRANK.COM T-shirt and even gave a shout out on camera to the website. Michael Vick grabbed a .COM shirt right before heading out the door and appreciated the fact that someone had something to give him for a change.

by NICKSCHRANK.COM Under the Parisi Speed philosophy, Nick Schrank is currently under a training regime provided by two of Northern Virginia's most dedicated Parisi instructors, Nick Sicina and Sarah Talomie, the three have come together for a year-long training session in preparation for the 2010 NFL Combine. Hopes of getting a bid for the combine in Indianapolis are what keep the tenacious trio clawing for more, day in and day out, with each new routine built for speed. Nick has entered the Speed School to learn and critique his running form, which will in turn produce a faster athlete on the field. The concept of mechanics and training “smart” not “hard” are what is emphasized at Old Town Athletic Club in the Speed School. That is not to say that Nick isn’t working up a sweat however. It simply means that without proper technique, an athlete will not be able to reach his or her full potential that they are capable of. Make sure to check out NICKSCHRANK.COM to see Nick’s progress, as he stays enlisted to the School, training under Sarah Talomie and Nick Sicina. Determination and Dedication fuel their drive. They won't stop until they make it to the top.
