The 2012
WOMACs chosen charity for 2012WOMAC has pledged its support to Action Against Cancer. The charity was founded by Hilary Craft, a businesswoman who has suffered with breast cancer, lung cancer and leukaemia for 13 years.
Hilary is a prolific fundraiser and has raised nearly 500,000 for other cancer charities. She is a true inspiration. Driven by her desire to continue helping other cancer sufferers, Hilary recently set up Action Against Cancer. The charity supports the development of cures for cancer at Imperial College, led by Professor Justin Stebbing, a world leading Professor of Cancer Medicine.
Your support will help to pay for a LightCycler. This cutting edge machine will provide Professor Stebbing and his team with a deeper insight into the make-up of cancer-causing genes. This will allow them to develop improved tests to diagnose, and drugs to treat, breast cancer, lung cancer and pancreatic cancer.
Please visit www.aacancer.org for more details.
About WOMAC
WOMAC (Women On the Move Against Cancer) is made up of volunteers, all working in the automotive industry, who raise money every year for cancer charities. We rely on the generosity of our friends to donate money or prizes for the tombola and raffle, and to help cover our costs.
Since WOMAC was created in 1979, we have supported a wide variety of projects, searching for more effective treatments for cancer or improving the quality of life for sufferers, their families and carers. Over this time, we have donated approaching 800,000 to cancer-related projects and charities.

Dine around in Tokyo:Gonpachi Nishi-Azabu
(Japanese Tapas - Izakaya style)
15
Housed in a re-created kura (traditional Japanese warehouse) with a high ceiling and a central, open kitchen, this is one of Tokyos most imaginative Japanese restaurants and offers a wide variety of dishes.
The inspiration for the restaurant scene in Quentin Tarantinos film Kill Bill, it is easy to imagine samurai sword-fighting at Gonpachi in Nishi-Azabu. Lanterns festoon the wood-panelled interior, where chefs prepare soba noodles and skewers of meat. Diners watch them cooking from the bar, balcony, or private rooms enticingly hidden behind sliding doors.

Suzuki Road Test - Magazine Review | Car And Driving
Suzukis uncomplicated Alto attacks the citycar market with simple practicality but is that enough? Steve Walker finds out.
The citycar sector is rapidly emerging as the most style-led in the whole of the car market. The main protagonists are locked in a war to win the hearts of fashion-conscious urban buyers by any means necessary. Suzukis Alto is a citycar but you couldnt really call it a trend-setter. Its a simpler, less image conscious option than many of the alternatives but is that something that should deter prospective buyers? We took a long term test to find out.
At a time when car manufacturers seem increasingly obsessed with their own brand image and that of their products, its refreshing to encounter a car that seems comfortable in its own bodywork. Its no secret that through clever marketing and advertising, car makers can enhance their public perception to a level that justifies the charging of premiums on their products. Its a route out of the low-cost, low-margin slog at the budget end of the market into premium brand profitability and its no surprise that so many companies seem so keen to take it. Against this background, Suzuki stands out for what looks to be its straightforward, honest approach to the car market. The Alto citycar doesnt really indulge in the flashy design and brand-building promotional shenanigans that occupy its rivals. Its a small five-door car that aims to be practical and affordable, rather than the thing to be seen driving through
upmarket shopping districts. With its practical five-door shape and inoffensive but not particularly memorable exterior, the Alto will blend into the background more than the urban trendies will like. Inside, the designers have been a little more adventurous. The vibrant colour schemes available in some rivals arent offered and our car has a simple black and grey cabin, though there is some interest in the way contrasting materials have been juxtaposed and the sculpted dash.
The rev-counter pod that protrudes from the main instrument cluster is a feature borrowed from the smart Fortwo and the Citron C1, citycars that openly play the trendy game, but it works, as do the chunky round air vents and the classy stereo. Cast your eye further down and the quality of the plastics and build drops off. A pull on the glovebox, the door pockets and the door handles reveals rather more play than youd want but nothing seems unduly flimsy.
The five-door bodystyle and a relatively tall shape make the Alto a practical option. Its a good choice for citycar buyers who are likely to carry rear seat passengers more than once in a blue moon as the back seats are accessible and usable.
With tall front seat occupants, rear legroom becomes pinched and the tapering windows restrict the view out but theres little issue with headroom in
any of the seats. The boot is less impressive with just 129-litres of capacity that can increase to 367-litres with the seats folded down. Its by no means the most meagre load space youll find in a citycar and is a price many will be willing to pay for the Altos four-seat practicality.
The Altos 1.0-litre petrol engine looks ideal for a compact urban vehicle. The 3-cylinder unit musters 67bhp and 90Nm maximum torque at 4,800rpm. That doesnt sound thrilling but in a car that tips the scales at 855kg, its enough to cover the 0-60mph sprint in 14 seconds. When youre on the gas, the engine responds with an offbeat 3-cylinder thrum that isnt unpleasant but certainly reminds you that you havent got a creamy V6 mounted over the front axle. If you venture out onto the motorway, the powerplants stay surprisingly refined at cruising speeds, with wind noise the most obvious companion in the cabin.
The Altos suspension hops about a bit over expansion joints but in general it must be one of the better long distance options in the citycar sector - especially if you take its small engine into account. Combined cycle economy of 64mpg and 103g/km emissions are the trade-offs for any lack of outright grunt.
Motorway travel, of course, isnt the point of this car. Its designed for urban use and the tribulations of the school run or the morning commute. As such, it does quite well. The steering isnt all that sharp and the car doesnt respond as sharply

to inputs as some of the sportier models in the sector do but the turning circle is suitably tight. The suspension provides a comfortable ride and is unfazed by speed humps, even if you take them more quickly than was intended, but theres quite a bit of body roll when you pitch the Alto into a bend.
Our Alto is an SZ4 model and comes with most of the stuff youd want for around 9,000 - including air-conditioning and a passable stereo. The car may not be the most
fashionable option in the citycar segment but you find yourself admiring its honesty. There are rival models which will come less well equipped with less space but will charge you a premium for their adventurous looks and elaborate marketing campaigns. The Alto will tug on the heart-strings less vigorously but is likely to be at least as capable as real-world urban transport. Prospective buyers will just need to ask themselves what value they place on looking cool.

Windsor FestivalSchools Programme

3Welcome
Windsor Festival is a vibrant, exciting and eclectic music and arts Festival held each year in March and September, attracting over 30,000 people.
One of the most prestigious and renowned Festivals in the country, the Festival celebrated its 40th Anniversary in 2009, and continues to go from strength to strength.
The Festival runs a competitive Schools Programme through the year, the results of which have been displayed at Ascot during the September meeting for the last four years. This year we received over 300 submissions from which our judges chose prize-winners and highly commended works to be exhibited.
Our programme, which began in 2004, aims to promote the Festivals core value of creativity in schools, as well as developing an understanding of the artistic world, providing an opportunity for children to see beyond the syllabus and National Curriculum. After receiving proposals from various companies and deciding that none met all our criteria, we designed our own programme with the support of our Schools Programme Partner Honda (UK) and local schools.
We aim to encourage imagination, creativity and artistic talent in senior schools, both state and private, throughout the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. Young people in years 10, 11 and 12 submit work in a range of categories for Music, Writing and Art.
Prizes are awarded to first, second and third places, and to the pupils school in each case. The prize-winners are also invited to Windsor Castle for a tour of
the Royal Library, which is not normally open to the public. All those submitting work are given a private tour of the State Apartments in Windsor Castle.
The Windsor Festival Schools Programme legacy is shaped by its enduring relationship with our Schools Programme Partner Honda (UK), the support of local schools and, above all, the creativity of young people.
Prizes will be presented in the Parade Ring at 1pm on Sunday 26th September. The exhibition is located on Level 1 of the Grandstand.

Interactive Party Invite and RSVP - PHP / MySQL Driven | Mackrell Turner Garrett
-
Mackrell Turner Garrett Solicitors required a Simple themed online RSVP system, allowing invitees to respond to an invitation to attend a summer party.
I produced the design concept, a mixture of strong British and American imagery in line with the partys theme and then used a mixture of PHP, a MySQL Database, HTML and CSS to produce the functionality.
When the user responds to the event they are taken through to a new page, allowing them to see more information and also to save the event to their Outlook or iCal Calenders. An email is sent to the event organiser who also has access to a list of attendees via an admin screen with sepa-rate log-in.
