ASPCA- We Are Their Voice -
MB Nichols Company
ASPCA Animal Abuse is
unfortunately more common than most
people believe.
It’s not hard to care about a friend who loves you
unconditionally, & yet,
many animals suffer at the very hands
of the ones they love.
Sometimes abuse is neglect…
…Other times it’s cruelty
At all times…
IT’S WRONG!
In the State of California:
Animal cruelty is a criminal offense, punishable from a six month term in
jail up to a one year term,
in state prison.
Financial penalties include fines from $1,000 up to $20,000 dollars.
Statistics
As per media reports, in animal cruelty cases, dogs are the most regular victims
of animal brutality. Of the 1,880 cruelty cases media reported in 2007:
• 64.5% (1,212) involved dogs.
• 18% (337) involved cats.
• 25% (470) involved other animals.
• Pit bulls represent an increasing percentage of total canine animal cruelty cases.
• In 2000 and 2001, pit bulls were the victims in 13 percent of reported dog abuse cases.
• In 2007, pit bulls were the victims in 25 percent of reported dog abuse cases.
