An "engaged employee" is one who is fully absorbed by and enthusiastic about their work and so takes positive action to further the organization's reputation and interests.

The Three Types of Employees Productivity Level

Engaged – employees working with passion and profound connection to their company. They drive innovation and move the organization forward.

Highest

Not – Engaged – employees that are essentially “checked out.” They are punching the clock, putting in their time, but with little to no energy or passion.

Average

Actively Disengaged – employees that are not happy at work and busy acting unhappy. Everyday, they undermine engaged workers and can be toxic to the employee culture.
