Nicenet's Internet Classroom Assistant (ICA) allows virtually any classroom, even those with modest resources, access to powerful tools. Everything in Nicenet is offered free for public use.

A. Create an account as teacher

1. Go to www.nicenet.org. You will find two types of users: Students and Teachers. If you are a new user, you must create an account first. For Teachers, click Create a class option on the right side of the screen.

2. Fill in all the required information. Your username and password maybe be alphanumeric characters that can be easily remembered. I suggest that you use the same username and password of your email addresses so you would not be burdened on remembering a lot of characters. Since we are availing of free sites, expect that we shall log on to different websites, and keying in the same username and password will not create confusion.

3. To submit your account, click Create a class found at the bottom of the screen.

4. After creating your account, the class key will automatically be generated by the computer. Copy the class key and give it to your students so they can enroll in your class. Your students will use the class key to access to all the materials you have posted on the site. All the names of the students who enroll in your class using the class

key you provided for them will appear in your virtual class; hence, the anonymous ones or outsiders can be deleted in the roll if you wish to.

5. Click Finish Registration when you’re done. Enter your username and password again. This time, your class page has been created.

6. Now that you have finished creating your virtual classroom, you can immediately navigate all the menus found on the left corner of the screen.

Conferencing - here, you and your students can discuss anything about the lesson. You will realize that your shy students get themselves out and express more of their thoughts/opinions here than in the classroom. The students can also react to their classmates’ remarks. Just provide the topic to be discussed and set the due date for online submission. Tight schedule should be observed.

Link Sharing - Related websites, the quizzes you created, powerpoint presentations you uploaded can be linked in this option. Copy the webpage of the site you intend to link which is found in the address bar and paste it in this menu.

Documents – You can type or copy and paste word documents here to serve as your lecture. You can also embed images from your uploaded files.

7. How do students join a class on the ICA?To join a class, the students must get a "Class Key" from their instructor. Click on Join a Class on www.nicenet.org to start the process. Enter username, password, and email address.
