1Islands

Ometepe Island raul cortazar cortazar: Ometepe is an island located in

Lake Nicaragua and is formed by two volcanoes that join toform an interesting figure of eight which can be seen from thesky. A tour of its forest is amazing such as the EcologicalReserve of Charco Verde which is inhabited by monkeys, reptiles and many birds. The beaches found amongst thevegetation from which you can contemplate beautiful views ofthe island is a joy to the senses. Not forgetting the Ojo deAgua, a natural spring to relax in and stop along the way for aswim in crystal clear waters. I also recommend making themost of Moyogalpa parties, music, food, dancing and acompletely indigenous atmosphere. Best wishes for theconservation of this beautiful island!

Corn Island malclown: Big Corn Island and Little Corn Island: 2

paradises on the 7th kilometer from Bluefields Bay, withouttourism. The few 2700 inhabitants of these islands arereluctant to sell the land they first took from the Pirates of theCaribbean: evidence in the funds of its beaches for divinglovers all in the form of Spanish galleons and other vessels ofthe old empire. But it is also known for its interesting heritageof that era found in the people. The Creole English ofNicaragua . Pristine beaches whose main fans areindigenous, proud of its coral reef paradise. To reach it thereis an airstrip in the same Big Corn Island, but I advise you togo up to the pangas of fishermen, which is much cheaper anda more pure and humble spot . Discover the essence of itsmost intimate tenderness even in the distance from my home,it has only been possible traveling to certain regions where itspeople have taught me humility to beauty, and the people ofthe Corn Islands , that is all they want .

3Volcanoes

Masaya Volcano National Park Anna (Diario Kiana): This is the sign we found in the

parking lot upon arrival to the volcano. The sign states thatthe Masaya volcano is still active, a fact quickly realized bydetecting a large sulfur smell when first getting out of the car. Therefore it is important to take precautions and be ready torun ... Once we approached the volcano we took photos ofclerics headed to the Cross of Francisco de Bobadilla. Fromhere we had a nice view of the valley and the lake of Masaya(after climbing some steps but it's worth it ...).

Yali Streber: If your idea of fun takes you to adrenalinerush and search for new sites, with some physical preparationcan go mountain bike in the non discovered slopes ofMasaya`s Volcano, where the landscape becomes a singularspectacle that you can not resist.

4Beaches

San Juan del Sur Mortyzia: Here I enjoyed some of the best sunsets on my

trip traveling through Central America. Despite the fact thatthere are many tourists who come here to surf, the people donot lose the local atmosphere that still exists in the streets, inthe market, etc.. And at night there is a lot of rum and lots ofpartying in the beach bars ...

Yali Streber: Nicaragua can offers the most amazingdestinations for extreme sports such as rappelling. From theIndian`s mountain in the incredible bay of San Juan del Suryou can risk and descend, with all the security of specializedequipment, into a natural wall of more than 70 meters high, feeling the adrenaline rushes through your body and themajestic scenery of the bay shelters you from above.

5Beaches

Majaual Beach malclown: The beach is right on the border of Majaual

Timber Beach and San Lorenzo on the Pacific coast ofNicaragua. Its beaches are immense and filled with limestoneand little vegetation and mass tourism. It is also a spot lovedby surfers and travelers that come to the town of San Juandel Sur, which they said was quite a sight. The truth is thatthese beaches are a delight for the mind and a litmus test forthe body as waves surely know how to break here. The rocksin the distance are directing the waves coming in and playingwith them and as swimmers, we are faced with the magnitudeof the Pacific Ocean. The town of San Juan and its beachesis an absolute recommendation if you're traveling toNicaragua. I am not sure if this should be done at thebeginning or the end of the trip, but either way it will be amistake not to visit. To reach the village: there are buses fromManagua (and other cities, I guess) market, and from thereyou will be able to reach Rivas. From there, you will take

Playa El Coco Ana Cabrera: This is one of the best places on Coco

Beach. Here you have the beach to yourself, it is amazinglyclean and watching the sunrise is beautiful. You may havethe opportunity to see pelicans catching fishes and if you arelucky you will see the beautiful rainbow that bathes the beachits beautiful colors! I dare you to go to Nicaragua!

7Lakes

Apoyo Lagoon Anna (Diario Kiana): The Mirador Catarina, located near

the town of Masaya, offers an unbeatable view of the lakeManagua. I love this place becuause of the wonderful contrastof the blue valley and the two lakes it contains. Here one canhave a good time admiring the mesmerizing beauty of nature... There are also bars for a drink (a tamarind zumito mmhhh.... please ...) and plenty of fun to be had listening to traditionalinstruments, or you can take donkey rides around the lake. There are many other ways to enjoy this beautiful place.

Somoto Canyon Noradoa: Considered to be one of the most impressive

geological landscapes in Nicaragua, the Rio Coco is about5km long and 10 - 15 metres wide. It runs through canyonswith walls that reach between 120 and 150 meters high. Thecalm current is interrupted by rock formations that give rise topools, where you can swim. In addition to appreciating itsbeauty, you can take a boat trip further in. For moreentertainment, other activities available are doing the watercourse in a large floating tyre. In recent years, we havemarked a route with viewpoints that can be toured by visitors, though the roads are safer. For active travelers, it is alsopossible to practice abseiling from some of the walls thatreach up to 60 meters high.

the most beautiful cities in Nicaragua and it's in pureNicaragua with its unrivaled great weather all year round. Ifyou want, you can go in shorts and T-shirt and not be cold orhot. The people here are the most welcoming and havewonderful hearts. At night the streets are safer in Nicaragua ifyou're with your partner. 10Cathedrals

Granada Cathedral Noradoa: The Granade Cathedral can be found in Plaza

de Colon, in the center of this beautiful colonial town inNicaragua. UNESCO declared it a World Heritage Site. Theneoclassical style is easily recognized on the building'sentrance. There are four chapels in the cathedral. Thecathedral has been rebuilt several times since its constructionin 1583. The building was completely destroyed in 1856. Inthe late 19th century, the construction of the new cathedralwas halted due to a lack of funding. When new plans weredrawn up its construction continued and ended in 1915.

Yali Streber: The Cathedral of Granada exhibits itscolonial architecture, wowing the spectators with their carveddomes protruding from the roof tiles. Granada is the first cityestablished in the mainland after the discovery of ourcontinent.

11Museums

ELENA CRESPIN: The Carcel de la 21 Museum is a verynice museum that has a lot to offer Leon's population andtourists, such as counting the myths and legends of ourancestors and keep it because I think it is part of our culture. The only problem with this museum is that it doesn't receiveany kind of support, which I think should be different in orderto keep this place in better condition. It's important to the cityof Leon, but it could be in better condition.

Las Maderas Beach (Nicaragua)

malclown: To the south-west of the country, San Juan isa fishing village that year after year is opening more totourism. Depending on the time of year, it is an ideal place toget lost at the beach. The official beach becomes the beachof San Juan del Sur, enclosed between two cliffs that hidefrom the world. From the north to the south, though, there areranges of opportunities and some are much less crowded. Some are defended by surfers who travel from around theworld looking for this side of the Pacific, and others areperfect for disappearing from the world and relaxing. TimberBeach, north of San Juan del Sur along the coast, is one ofthem. Perhaps not as well known, but, isn't that preferable? The rock ledges force you to leave the beach jumping fromthe rocks reaching the limestone plate to the beach andcrumbling into sand. Giving the feeling of a violent naturemagnitude under the waters. And yet it is a perfect beach forswimming because it is large enough to occur together seaviolence and serenity of its flow. The Guatuzos Wildlife Refuge Ninoska Garcia Paz: Dear friends of Mi Nube: Recently, I

visited the Wildlife Refuge in Guatuzos in the south west ofthe great lake of Nicaragua. The experience was delightful. We toured the Papaturro River channels and saw many birds, turtles, alligators, and monkeys. Once we arrived at theinterpretation centre, a tour guide led us through the trails andon a tour of the puento pendant to appreciate the wetlands'natural fauna, which is a RAMSAR site. We visited thehatchery where earth lovers support the reproduction of riverturtles and alligators. Anyway, it was an event, it poured rainand we all got wet. It's worth visiting the Guatuzos. If you arevisiting Nicaragua, stop and visit this paradise.

Esteli Noradoa: Interesting town in northern Nicaragua, which

can perfectly serve as a base to see the wonders of the areaas it's well connected by road. As for tourism, the focus is onthe central square with its beautiful cathedral, almostimmaculately white. In the vicinity you can visit the SomotoCanyon, where you can take a bath, Matagalpa, a beautifulcity or Tisey park.

Pavona to Tortuguero Tour Héctor www.mibauldeblogs.com: In Pavona, you should

take the boat to Tortuguero because it is the only way toreach the village. To reach Pavona from Cariari San Jose, you take a bus. Normally you get on the boat at 13:30, and itusually waits for the bus as this comprises 90% of thepassengers. The journey takes about an hour and you willsee some wonderful animals, especially birds and crocodilesif you are lucky. You will certainly enjoy this water ride in thejungle. You can take a return trip on the boat later. Thesepaths are maily full of locals and the occasional backpacker.

He is a XXI century hermit that spent most of his lifein agriculture and sculpting. Self-taught, he transformed therocks of his farm into a stunning art gallery. 17Volcanoes

Concepción (volcano) Noradoa: Located on the island of Ometepe, near the

town of Moyogalpa, is the most perfect volcanic cone ofNicaragua. Although the fog covered a part of it, The volcanowas still incredibly impressive. It's visible from the entireisland. It's active so you might not go any furher than halfway up, but it's worth it if it's a clear day. You have to hire aguide but it's easy to get one in the village (15 euros). Theclimb is not easy so I don't recommend it to people who areunfit.

18Lakes

Asososca Lagoon, León josseline: Asososca Lagoon Leon, Nicaragua is my

favorite area because I can relax swimming in its warmwaters, while seeing some spectacular scenery along withthe sound of birds and branches blowing in the wind. Also, Ican challenge myself to go up one of the volcanoessurrounding the area, one of them is active and one dormant.

Laguna Asososca, Nicaragua, La Paz Centro

Viewpoints

Devil Viewpoint Noradoa: From Devil Viewpoint, which is a small hill, just

over 10 miles south of Moyogalpa, you have a breathtakingview of the island of Ometepe, especially its two volcanoes,Concepcion and Maderas and Lake Nicaragua. It's awesome. You can get there by bus from Moyogalpa, the capital of theisland (buses stop there whenever you want). Renting a bikeor scooter to get there would be a bad idea, trust me. If youvisit it, I also recommend losing yourself in the Charco Verdenature reserve, which is right next door.

Moyogalpa

19Islands

Las Isletas Noradoa: Located on Lake Nicaragua, opposite the town

of Granada, there are 365 islets, which were created after aneruption of the volcano Mombacho. For about $15 you cantake a boat (fitting 8 people) from the port of Granada. Thejourney normally takes just under 1 hour and it often visits theisland where Fort San Pablo is located (possible to stop toview it) and the islet with a colony of monkeys.

20Villages

Tortuguero Village Héctor www.mibauldeblogs.com: If you don't wish to be

a prisoner of the luxury Lodges tour packages in Tortuguero, then you must stay in the village. I saw few Spanish in thevillage and those in the resorts almost all were sorry, becausehotel is lovely but they could not leave. They could only leavefor short times and this was based on the availability of theboat from the hotel to town. The boat trips were few andstrictly scheduled. The village has no luxury lodges but theyare pretty good and give you the freedom to move andcontact the friendly locals, who incidentally, have created thewebpage that I posted. The village has a few small housesand streets, with next the beach right next to it.

21Nature Reserves

Green Pool Nature Reserve Noradoa: It is located just over 10 km from Moyogalpa

(capital of the island of Ometepe), following the road south. Inthe lower area of the reserve we can see a lagoonsurrounded by mangroves and lush vegetation with a fruittree. The walking tour around the reserve is short, taking lessthan 1 hour . I did it with a guide (and recommended it) butyou can do it without if you want. The route is well marked, and you can see a monkey, but especially birds, they'reeverywhere. You can also explore the lagoon by kayak ortake a tour on horseback. If you're staying within the reserve,Hotel Charco Verde is located inside, in front of a smallbeach.

Madera .. I do not know how my Chevrolet Spark managed tocross that road .. There is a beautiful beach, a very secludedbeach, not a soul to be seen .. I walked over to the rockswhere the water crashed hard on the shore and I wanted toenjoy its breeze .. I walked along the sand, I walked to thesea .. My body started to turn brown like a sausage on abarbecue, with all the flavors of sea salt and the last rays ofsun .. It was truly heavenly, it gave me time to breathe andcreate space in my mind .. It filled me with great peace .. Itwas my therapy .. It brought me back to life .. I would spendall day lying on the sand or on the rocks .. Justcommunicating with the whales and shipwrecks ..

Beautiful Poneloya beach has thepleasure of being found just 20 kilometers away from León. Ifrequently went there to eat fish with garlic and enjoy a goodflower cane rum. Here you can see sea turtles lay their eggs from themonths of July to April. It is an amazing spectacle that shouldnot be missed. El Castillo malclown: From Lake Nicaragua to the Atlantic runs the

winding San Juan river; it's like a canal into the country'sinterior which impressed Louis Napoleon Bonaparte, whoreferred to this area as the "Constantinople of the NewWorld". It's so well located strategically that a Spanish fortwas created in order to stop pirate raids. This fort was ofgreat interest and the scene of bloody battles known as ElCastilo. Like the place named after it. What this place lacks, they make up for in kindness. You will not need anythingelse, not streets or roads (of course, there are issues ofaccommodation so you should be prepared). The whole townis geared toward the river, which is the center of life in thisregion which is often flooded. There's no better place to go tofeel the benefits of this place. There was a beautifullagoon. There are several trails to climb at the Maderasvolcano. I recommend the Finca Magdalena (you shouldbring a guide). You can also go around the volcano, being arural area with farming villages. If you look, you can see thepre-Columbian history in several petroglyphs.

Masaya Market malclown: Catching the interlocal bus (9-seater van

where more than 20 people travel) from Managua towardsGranada, we found Masaya, known for its craft markets andcalled the city of flowers (they dedicate themselves to selling, plus crafts, flower). You need to lose yourself in the marketclosest to the express bus terminal, because it's notdedicated to tourism and the locals do their shopping there. There is another market, more touristy and therefore moreexpensive. It is in an old building renovated colonial buildingwith stalls of masks, necklaces and jewelry made from seeds, typical Nicaraguan clothes, etc. It is worth going to see thestage where groups like Los Mejia Godoy or CardinalBrothers perform, folk and revolutionary songs copyright.Masaya is known as the birthplace of folk music and all newmusical contributions of the country come from here ... sodon't find it odd that everyone is dancing in Masaya and thatthe music is everywhere.

Cascadas del Río Santa Emilia Franklin Rodríguez Stulzer: There's a group of waterfalls

not far from the town of Matagalpa that are ideal for arefreshing swim or a nice outdoor picnic. The surroundingmountains are actually home to lots of waterfalls which youcan reach either by car or by catching a bus in the city. Thethree main waterfalls are El Salto de Santa Emilia, El Saltodel Escondido, and La Flor. In winter, they're full of water andthe sight is pretty incredible. The main waterfall is El Salto deSanta Emilia (it's named after a nearby town) and costs about$2.00 to visit. Salto del Escondido is located a little furtheraway and costs $1.00 to visit. La Flor is on the same path asSalto del Escondido but it's a completely wild waterfall so it'sfree to visit. It's located about one kilometer down the trail soit's a great spot if you like hiking. So whether you're a hiker orjust a nature lovers, these waterfalls don't disappoint.

An island in the middle of a lakein the middle of Nicaragua, in the middle of Central America, between two gigantic oceans, we are in the middle ofnowhere. It was dark when we arrived, after a good hike withbackpacks in the mud. The next day, after a night full ofmosquitoes, we climb the volcano, whose slopes form theisland. Finca Magdalena is the biggest city in Madera and is 1km away. The night costs $ 2 in a bedroom 1.50 for campingor to put up your hammock. You will definitely need insectrepellent!
