Public Health England leads the NHS Screening Programmes 1

User guide: Registering new screeners on e-Learning for Healthcare (e-LfH) This document explains how to set up a new Newborn Hearing Screening Programme user on the e-

learning for healthcare website. This website is where the e-learning for all screening programmes

are hosted from 3 April 2017.

Importantly, in the case of NHSP, if a user is not set up in the correct way then Local Managers will

not be able to track their progress.

The guide is divided in to two sections:

For local managers

For new users

For local managers Go to http://portal.e-lfh.org.uk/ and select ‘Register’ from the far right of this page.

This will bring you to the registration page where you will be presented with the following input box

asking you to provide the new user’s work e-mail address.

Ideally this will be @nhs.net or .nhs.uk, although users from Virgincare, Northgate Public Services

and Circonia are also able to register for NHSP.

Select the ‘Register’ button.

Once the ‘Register’ button is selected you will be brought to the ‘Registration Details’ page which will

contain the following input boxes. This next page is the most important as it will determine

whether a user’s progress is tracked based on their NHSP site.

Fill in the user’s details in the ‘Your details’ section

Complete the ‘Your Current Role’ section.

Search for the user’s ‘Job Role’ from the drop down list:. For NHSP, the roles you can select are:

- Screener - Health Visitor - Local Programme Manager - Administrator - Audiologist In the ‘Grade’ section, enter the user’s NHS Band and choose Public Health Medicine or Other in the ‘Primary Speciality’ drop down list.

[email protected]

The image below is the same as the final box on the previous image

Finally on this page, you must complete “Place of Work” section.

Select a start date for the user and type the place of work.

The ‘Place of Work’ selection should NOT be the NHS Trust that the user works for. It should

be the local NHSP site they are attached to. They will be able to add their Trust later on.

Use the list in Appendix 1 to find out what site name to use. Enter the acronym on the far right of the

table to find the most accurate results.

NHSP Doncaster and Bassetlaw (DON)

Then select the Programmes to sign up for:

a) Newborn Hearing Screening Programme

b) Antenatal and Newborn Screening: cross-programme learning

These will be under a blue heading titled ‘Public Health’.

Public Health

On the following ‘Registration’ page select the ‘Continue’ button to send a registration e-mail to the

new users’ E-mail address.

For new users When the user logs in using the details sent to them by e-mail they will have to follow this 6 step process. Page 1: Accept terms and conditions

Read the terms and conditions on this page before selecting the button marked “I accept these terms and conditions”.

Page 2: Password Reset

Users must then create themselves a new password for the e-learning for healthcare platform and confirm it when done. The password must:

Be a minimum of 8 characters

Contain at least

o One number

o One upper case letter

o One lower case letter

It cannot be the same as the username.

Select ‘Change Password’ to continue.

Page 3: Security Questions

Users must set up two memorable questions.

Once this is done, select ‘Save Security Questions’ to continue.

Page 4: Job Role Users must check the details on this page to make sure they are correct.

‘Grade’ should be their NHS Band and ‘Primary Speciality’ should be Public Health. Select ‘Save Changes’ if any edits are made, or ‘Existing Details Correct’ if they are correct.

Place of work must be NHSP Site NOT NHS Trust.

Page 5: Personal Details The next step involves adding any missing registration information.

Currently the regions are divided in to 4 categories.

North

South

East

West Despite the limited choice of region, a selection must be made, so pick which is closest. Users must select ‘Save Changes’ if they have made any edits or ‘Existing Details Correct’ if not.

Page 6: Technical Check Finally users can check that their device is compatible with the e-learning for healthcare website by selecting ‘Check my device’.

When they have done this they can select ‘Complete Registration’.

Once the six step registration process is completed, the user will be brought to the home screen with the e-learning they have signed up for in a scrolling panel. Finally, users can add their NHS Trust by selecting ‘My Account’ and scrolling down the drop down list to ‘Employment Details’.

Users then add their Trust by selecting ‘Add new employment details’.

Once ‘Add new employment details’ is selected the user will be brought to the ‘Employment Details’ page.

Choose the same job role as selected in the registration process. ‘Grade’ should be NHS Band and ‘Primary Speciality’ should be as Public Health Medicine or Other. ‘Place Of Work’ is the user’s NHS Trust, University or CCG. Type the name in the search bar and be sure to add a ‘Start Date and/or ‘End Date’. The user can now start using the E-LfH website to complete their e-learning.

Using e-LfH

1. When you have completed all the steps you will then see a screen like this. Click on

the NHSP icon to start your e-learning.

This will take you to the next page which lists all the units for NHSP. The first time you attempt these you must complete them in order. Units will not be unlocked until the previous unit has been passed.

To pass a unit you must achieve 80% in the quiz at the end of the unit. If you do not it is

suggested that you read through the unit again before retrying.

Certificates

When you have passed a unit, a certificate is available here

You will then be able to access the next unit.

Once you have completed/passed all units you will be able to access a Programme

certificate.

To do this:

1. Select “My e-Learning”:

2. Select the gold certificate next to the programme
